- This is the great Mother and Daughter Scene with Whoopi Goldberg and Carol Burnett from the 1987 TV Special Carol, Carl, Whoopi and Robin. I searched for it for years. The quality is bad but it is the only version available on the internet so far.

I cannot thank you enough for posting this! For years I have searched all over for a copy of this wonderful skit with no luck. I remember watching this with my mother when it first aired. My mom was taking care of her mother who had dementia at the time, and the song that they sing really meant a lot to my mother. Now, twenty years later, dementia has taken my mother from me, but just hearing that song once again brought back a flood of memories! Thank you, you don't know just how incredib

I saw this in 1987 and was deeply moved by this skit. I recorded and had the vcr tape for over 10 years. It got damaged alittle, and then I haven't seen it in 10 years. I was SO HAPPY to see this now on you tube. It is so precious and beautiful on the circle of life. Thank you so much for putting this on you tube. Now I have grandkids and can show this to my adult children and anyone who will watch.
So do I ... I had the whole show on VHS until my ex husband accidentally handed it to me as a useable tape. The lullibye that carol and whoopie use in this segment is one that hit a very strong chord with me... and I used it with all of my nephews and nieces, and surrogate children that came through my life and have called me mom for one reason or another through the years. It made me cry the first time I watched it and it still has that power.
Thanks for posting this gem! I love Whoopi as the teenager...similar to her surfer act from her Broadway show!

I laughed myself silly AND I cried my eyes out when I saw this for the first time. They had such great chemistry together! Peace.
That's some talent. The ability to go from infant to bride in essentially the same costume. I'm sure they must have flubbed s line here or there, but appears as one take as well.

My brother recorded this back when it aired and we had it on VHS. Poor recording, but when I ventured to online sites and let it be known I had the show on tape, I got inundated with requests from people to copy the program and especially this scene.
