- A visit to the historic towns of Bradian and Bralorne. The further i walked into the woods the more homes and buildings i found. I will be going back in the future to explore more as there is so much i know i didn't find. The drive is incredible as well.

I grew up here in Bradian/Bralorne. My dad poured the final gold brick in 1969 and then we left so we were one of the last families to leave. I finished grade 7 here. Very remote place to grow up, but a fantastic place to grow up in the 1960s. The mine owned everything so they made sure that we were well taken care of. We had a ski hill (rope tow), outdoor swimming pool, movie theatre (one movie a week), curling rink/skating rink, and company picnics at Gun Lake on a regular basis. We had a small school that went to grade 10. There was a pipeline that ran between our school area and Bradian and alongside the pipeline we had what we called the "cat trail" that us kids walked to get to/from school. Moms didn't drive back then so kids were on foot, trudging through all that snow, and boy did we get lots of snow. One more story I will share. On Sunday, we would go to Sunday School and were each given a quarter to put in the dish, however, we would sneak out a dime because on the way home we would race up to the Legion which was right at the beginning of the "cat trail" and go to the front door where we could each buy a bag of potato chips for our walk home from Sunday School. I can still smell that musky old Legion lobby to this day. This video was a nice trip down memory lane. Thanks for taking the journey up into the mountains.

Thanks for the videos, Dustin. I'm 72 yrs old and will never get a chance to see these places for myself, so I'm very grateful to you for posting them. Loved the one about the old guy who died from lung cancer, but what a life he led. It still hurts my heart to see how vandals destroy, destroy, destroy!!! But so happy you have preserved the memory of some of these places!! Just amazing work!!! Thanks! (You may be a relative, too. Guess I can claim that's a possibility!!!). Thanks!

I can definitely see the difference in your filming abilities, from now in 2023 and 7 years ago. ....you definitely have come a long way with equipment.. but I can see your abilities to catch what is interesting to film, was in your head, from the beginning......, such a great job even with the limited amount of photographic gear.....but since you upgraded your photographic tools, your videos became more and more spectacular! Thank you for sharing your blessed talent with all of us. What I love most is your humor came out more and more as you grew into this..... You were just so serious in this video.....lol
Lots of beautiful flowers growing around the houses. Just so you know, the world’s smallest bed was actually a spring belonging to a baby’s crib. Thanks for the great video. Sad to see a whole town gone.

Driving tip from Vancouver. Depart in the morning and head up the Sea to Sky highway towards Whistler, doing this circle tour. The sun will be behind you for most of this trip, lighting everything up perfectly.
Old town i sin remarkably good condition for depression-era buildings. Wouldn't take a whole lot to make one or two of them usable again. Thanks for showing us, and again, appreciate your respect for the "people who came before". Old saying holds true for you - take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints. Used to be my mantra when I was doing this sort of thing in the '60's-90's. Old now, 70+, but still have the heart of the adventurer, if not the body! Thank you, Dustin!
The “investors” aren’t worried about getting their money back, they are worried about hiding dirty money in real estate. Here in Vancouver we have mansions and entire condo buildings that sit empty and deteriorating because of “investors” buying them and hiding money in real estate. It’s a great way to launder crime proceeds etc.
Interesting place but abandoned houses, towns, etc., have always interested me. Great video as always and thanks for always letting us know some history about the places you visit.

It is hard to believe that people lived out there in the woods. they had good times with their families there. Lots of good memories.

I don't know, but one day even land like this will be worth just as much as in Vancouver. They got a steal in my opinion.

reminds me a bit of Creighton, Ontario, before they took it all down ( except the mine ) in the 1980's after it had been part of the local scenery since about 1902.

Hi, Mike Morel July 24. I know all about Bradian I lived in one of the houses on your film. I was born in Brailorn, we at that time lived in Pioneer up the road further there was a town there, old mill under ground access there that joined tunnel access at Bralorne. All started there. Lots of people at the time. Used to visit ma Murray of the Lilloet gazette in Lilloet.
Thanks for posting the town names. I like to look for them on Google earth for reference and perspective.

I used to fish for trout at a few lakes around Bralorne. It was good fishing at one time.

House looks well made. All wood built and no particle board. Even a tin roof. Make a neat hunting camp.

Gotta keep a steady, patient hand. That way we have enough time to see and process the images. Otherwise it gets frustrating to the eyes and folks get headaches.

i usually try and be as steady as possible but honestly on this particular adventure i was so excited to be at this location it was hard to focus on the camera. i was disappointed once i started editing. always improve on the next one :)

Thank you for the video. Want to let you know, if you don't already. Hwy 550 in Colorado going from Ouray, through Silverton and into Durango there are miners homes also. They are right off of the road. They are stunning, painted up, sort of taken care of. Old mines on that road. Beautiful place if you get to go there.

Excellent job. You do well with research. Helps to appreciate the explore. For several years I lived in the northern California sierra mtns historic gold region which included large active gold mining into the 1950's. I learned to explore and appreciate such history.
The place on the mountain built by the man who died of cancer was just beautiful. Wonderful location. This 1 is very interesting & the area is really nice . To bad everything is in such bad bad shape , great place for a camp ground .

Those houses are move in ready and just a bit of a fixer upper. Reminds me of the old church I found outside Hemingford Nebraska on my way to Wyoming this past summer. Great Video 😊👍

God my family came up here 40 plus yrs ago. And up to Bralorne mines. We camped up there. My dad rolled his Bronco down the embankment. Split his head wide open. Took him next day to Lilooett hospital. Next day my sister went into labour, took her to Lilooett hospital to have her baby. I did wander through the mine back then, I collected a Bralorne mine share that someone bought. I am surprised the houses are still standing. Now 40yrs later, my parents are long gone & my brother (s) I have 3kids. My sister who had her son in Lilooett is in his 40's with 2 kids.
Thank you bro for the adventures you take me on with you. Awesome locations, love the scenery, and best of all the Canadian history!! The more I learn the more I admire and appreciate our neighbors.

the small bed is the springs from an old fashioned crib, a stiff mattress pad would have been placed over it, the kid could have been left inside even during the day with a few toys

loved all the bright colored flowers and the 2 different young bucks ( deer) one with just a single rack the other one had the start of 2. I agree the colors are yucky but maybe 60 odd years ago this was the fad.

Very interesting to hear about all these old places. What I find amazing is that these old buildings are still standing! Don't know what they used back then to build as opposed to today? Same in Ocean Falls, BC. The old houses are still standing and a newer apt building (1967) is almost completely collapsed.
Johnny Jensen I think they just took better care when building and used better materials, maybe? Look at some places in Great Britain and Europe...buildings still standing after 1000 years, in some cases more.

Amazing countryside, w/beautiful wildflowers blanketing everything! I esp. loved those crimson poppies! Great garish wallpaper, as well! I totally respect yr unwillingness to trespass, but I doubt if any Chinese investors are gonna pop up & put u out. Still, that's cool, there's plenty to be seen w/o chancing it. Ha - u had a deer stalker. Onward to pt. 2!

You should do a search about this town , the middle age couple that really owned the town with son and daughter but when the husband was putting money in the houses by keeping the houses in good shape. One day the husband took a walk towards the creek or river, he incidentally found a gold nugget and decided to sell the town , the town was for sale for under 3 years a day the previous owners decided to sell the town for $1.3 million but at the end they did receive shy of a million from the Chinese investors but the other communities near the town of bradian would like the town to become back to life as the next town has electrician's, framers and plumbers
