I’ve read tons of comments in the past with the format : “ turns out the Actor was doing this, that, & this (usually something crazy) and the Director just happened to be filming.” Looks like the writer must have seen those type of UA-cam comments because they’re ACTUALLY doing it in this movie!!! We’ve come full circle lol. This is going to be amazing.
Totally agree, he really delves into the parts where you look into his eyes and get the intensity of each role, and he really knows people, he puts mannerisms on and takes them off like a glove.
when they say he did not get a single script. it means the exact sentences. james still knows the plot of the whole movie and exact plot of each take he was taking
@@annabodhi38 Like, it's a really fascinating concept through 3/4 of the movie and Claire and James are powerhouses, but the ending is so tacked on and takes you right out of the story.
@@xxwhispersxx2856 We watched this last night and I agree with you on the ending. It could have been better done or even omitted altogether. I did enjoy the scenery. Scotland is quite beautiful. Overall James and Claire did well, and you're right about that ending. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!
Good flick. The first half is slow moving and I admit I nearly turned it off. But it picks up in the second half and is worth seeing it through. A solid 7/10
Just watched it, thank you i loved it cast we're great, location's we're bleak and assist in the gloom of a lost loved one, it's pace was perfect and no annoying kicking and punching scene that goes on for 8 minute's, lovely bit of stealth from James not too much Commando, just desperate Father. A Fine Display 👏
I’m so confused about the negative reviews!! If you’re not sure whether to watch it or not, do it! It’s a fantastic thriller and Mcavoy was brilliant👍🏼
Hi @RebeccaWoodward , this is the first that I have heard of this movie. Our theaters were shut down for so long locally that I only started going back to the movies in the end of 2021. Where can I find this movie? Is it on the streaming service?
I was a nervous wreck the whole time. A horrible-horrible situation which happening every damn day and it is an open secret among powerful, rich people.
They may not have given him a script, but I imagine they gave him a run down of the character he'd be playing. Can't completely cold turkey a whole movie without knowing the character you're playing.
@@addie_is_me I'm not saying I don't believe that they did it, but we have to be realistic here. He didn't get off the plane and was suddenly surrounded by cameras with a director yelling action. Though that would be a funny skit.
Looks like a remak of the french movie from 2017, “Mon garcon” with Guillaume Canet… It was a great movie, i would still watch My son for the performance of Mr. McAvoy. Hope it is good too
i swear i had this in mind to create a film without a script and that actor should really find deeper meaning in their character and experience the real story ..
I’d rather slice their Achilles stop the bleeding let them crawl on the ground struggling then shoot A kneecap an a elbow have him begging for his life or is get very angry in the middle of it an probably just beat them to death beyond recognition
Now among all the pieces of junk (for the lack of a better word) movies coming out this and last year this seems to be a way better work resembling a masterpiece.
so Im guessing this is an improv piece. He's given a scenario, he's told the basics about his character and the rest of the cast have lines to deliver to him and he reacts. Sounds cool but it risks having clunky dialogue as real life conversations often do.
I don't mind the idea how the film was made but to use it as a sales argument (hence this is a trailer) is plain stupid. People should not value a movie because they were impressed about how it was made.
I’m guessing McAvoy character is going to face trial for being a vigilante, blow torching the nonce’s feet etc… It’s sickening to know he would also face trial if this happened in real life, our justice system means criminals are given greater rights than the victims.
Interesting way to film. If anyone can pull it off this two can. James Mcavoy is always finding new stuff within himself for every project and I just really like Foy in movies. Never saw her on TV. It is great Mcavoy does have to use some dumb accent. He has had to when he has not needed to and it is annoying. He's a Scot, let him talk like a Scot!
James mcavoy & Claire foy = 🔥 looking forward to this it's not a matter of will james ever win a Oscar it's only a matter of when the man is crazy talented. 👍👏
I’m 12 minutes in and having problems with the credibility of a 7 year old having no adult supervision in the wilds of Scotland, but maybe I’m missing something. To be clear, the film is excellent, it’s just kinda weird they didn’t make the kid 12-14.
super kid maybe? Maybe you will find out watching longer that he actually is much older and from another planet and was only missing because he went to his home galaxy for a while. Maybe this is just a modern version of ET the extra terrestrial. Just guessing.
The ex wife actress made this a hard watch. Her stupid rapid breathing thing she did to act distressed was to over the top and honestly laughable. Also, on a brand new Apple MacBook with the brightness cranked to max can still see nothing. It’s a good stylistic choice if your movie is dark and has a good plot with a foundation, which this shit excuse for a film did not.
The father's character is stupid and emotional..if he thinks that his ex wife's new partner is behind the disappearance of his son, he should have kept his composure and asked thw police to investigate the guy. Nope, what he did was, he beat the guy black and blue and was hospitalized. Now, the police booked him in prison instead of the otger guy. Crazy stupid. Doednt know how to mqke the smart move.
warning: this movie is complete filled with the shaking camera effect. For some like me the film is therefor unwatchable and for the rest of the shaking camera effect haters it is plain stupid. If the story or cinematography cannot create atmosphere or action then why make a movie?
I can see why James McAvoy took this character, it's challenging and really shows the ambition of an great actor.
I've just watched this and I tell you, James McAvoy is hauntingly very good. I don't know how he's able to pull off such spontaneity.

MUST SEE! I watched it. It was so good. James really needs to make more movies.
Where did you see this movie?
True
James picks carefully. He is the next up coming method actor such as Daniel Day Lewis.
Is on in Amazon prime video
He's one of my favourite actors every since 'Wanted'
My god this looks good. I will watch anything with James in he’s a phenomenal actor brings so much realism to every roll

It must have been very stressful for James ... having the full weight of the movie on his shoulders.
Please don't let this suck. James and Claire are excellent and deserve to show their talent.
The ending is so confusing.

Agreed. And they surely did many takes for each scene.

Brilliant idea. Most would, and do just go for full adlib, which always sucks. But having just the lead out of the loop is a very smart move.
