Good primer for ice out trolling..cheers buds
Won't be long now, Tight lines.
@@PineStateHunter You the same bud
Thanks for showing us how to rig those smelt. Where I am in NYS everything about trout fishing was a big secret. Even the guys selling the bait at the bait shop would keep their mouths shut about trout fishing. In future videos can you tell us how you go about finding those salmon and how deep the lake is? Love your channel, its better than cable tv!
Your welcome, dags sporting goods in auburn maine had a instructional paper on cash out desk free for the taking. In near future we will put out a video explaining how we go about finding the salmon as well. We're not experts by far but this has worked for us
Great videos
Thanks!
Thanks for the video it is one of the best salmon fishing video i have seen. We do a lot of salmon fishing in the spring
Glad you enjoyed it. Tight lines.
Fantastic work gentleman!! Salmon are hard to beat!! I wish I had more lakes around with them!!!
Thanks, Salmon are a bast to catch.
Great day! Thanks for the video.
You bet
Looks like you boys have upgraded. 👍🏻
Oh yea, and it seems some nice. Thanks for watching.
Nice work fellas! You know it's a good day when you lose count of how many fish you caught!
You got that right!
Nice boat guys. Congrats!
Thanks! 👍
Nice day salmon trolling for sure..
Awesome day, wish every trip was that good. Thanks for watching.
same one hahaha nice video
Glad you enjoyed
Sliding bait rigs with a single on the nose and a treble, one up the pooper seldomly misses catching a fish.
Nice boat, beauty of a salmon. I want to filet one and put it on the smoker. Love that Yankee ingenuity, the truck camper top.
Thanks for watching, Wish I had thought of the tuck cap before getting a Bimini top.
I have towed a bucket before but never 4 buckets. Must have had the speed right because you guys hammered them. Congrats.
Wind was pushing us, Into the wind with 2 buckets was just about 1 mph.
I'm so glad I found your channel. Instant subscriber!
Since I am just getting into trolling for LL salmon, I'm trying to make sure I have my rig setup properly. Do you mind explaining in a very "dumbed down" detail how you rig your line (piece by piece)? I have a trolling rod with lead core line followed by 20 feet of fluorocarbon line. From there, do you tie the following: fluoro --> #2 barrel swivel --> dodger --> 2' to 6' leader --> sliding rig or sewn on smelt? Or is there more line between the barrel swivel and the dodger? If I have a 30 inch sliding rig, is that part of the 2' to 6' leader after the dodger? Also, what pound test do you use for each section?
Thanks!
Hey thanks for watching!
Ok so we will start at the end of the leadcore I like to use 18 or 27 pound Sufix leadcore line. this ensures when i get caught on bottom my main line leader breaks before the leadcore does.
If your leadcore is brand new or you havent been caught on bottom (causing the sheathing around the leadcore center to cinch down making it impossible to remove on some brands) you should be able to slide the Dacron sheathing back down the leadcore 6 to 10 inches, break the lead off and pull back down the dacron sheathing, enough to tie on a pline dura-max hi-speed rolling treble swivel (i cant remember the size).
Then I tie on the 25ft 12 pound Fluorocarbon main line leader, then I tie a ball bearing swivel with interlock snap. This some what prevents line twist from there i put on the dodger followed by 24 to 36 inch sliding rig or Maine Pro Series size 6 Emerald Smelt sewing hook 8 pound test, it comes in 5ft leaders so you will have to cut it down to size.
Thanks!@@PineStateHunter
After seeing the boat with the truck cap I have seen it on a lake near me I fish regularly.
Probably William, We fish all over the place. Thanks for watching.
@@PineStateHunter me too ! Probably meet you on the water sometime, somewhere!
Where do you get your sliding hook rigs for sewn on bait?
You can find them at most bait and tackle shops or order them online. We usually use the Northeast trollers. Good luck this spring.
I fish Northern Maine. What setup do you guys have the most luck on?
Dodgers and sewn bait
Great video VERY INFORMATIVE if you don’t mind me asking what’s your trolling speed . Thank you
Early-season with bait we try to troll around 1 to 1.5 mph
@@PineStateHunter Thank you very much for your reply.
Hello again, I tried finding that sliding rig set up with treble hook, can’t locate it anywhere. Can you please let me know who makes it or where I can find them. Thank you
Backwoods Bait and Tackle, Dag's Bait and Tackle I don't seem to have any packages kicking around and I can't remember the name of them. Any bait and tackle shop should know exactly what you're talking about if you ask them.
@@PineStateHunter Thank you very much. Actually I checked 6 locations down here in NJ and PA as well as Bass pro and Kittery trading, Amazon with no luck. Thank you again I'll swing by those places next week on my way up to Portage Lake enjoy very much watching you guys having fun. Stay safe
What purpose do the 5 gallon jugs serve? Are they acting as a sea anchor?
The buckets help slow the boat down. Without them we can only get down to 2 mph. Trolling bait, we like to be around 1 to 1.5 mph.
I’ve always called the buckets a Sebago Lake brake !
I like you guys. Maybe someday we can fish together.
Eric and I usually fish along, but if something comes up we will let you know.
Pls do that. Appreciate that.
