You're awesome, I don't speak English, but with the automatic subtitles and guiding myself through the image, I try to capture as much as I can. You're a sampling monster, the way you use each tool with a purpose is truly inspiring. Sending you a hug from Peru.
thank you for all the tips on layering! something really REALLY hard to learn due to its occasionality, and something you are really good explaining. amazing video!
quick tip for making bass - of you have problems with finding the right note for bass pattern, you can just put eq on ur sample and delete all high and middle stuff, put lots of distortion and try find what are the notes you hear
Hey brother, just wanted to let you know that your videos inspired me to get back into hip-hop producing as well as paying more attention to my favorite beats. I fell into an electronic music production rut but your tips and insight got me back into where I started, but leveled up. Appreciate you, excited to keep following your channel!
Been dipping my toes in making Soulful Boom bap beats lately and I must admit that it is one of the best things I ever did xD nothing beats Chopping up a good gospel or soul sample! Combine it with some scratching and I am in beatmaker heaven
Great video, was searching for soulful beats explanation for a long time now. I still can't fully understand the drums. Everytime I choose a sample, it feels like the drums of the sample are completely standing in my way. Can I just ignore them, or what should I do?
I dont understand one thing. You have cleans sounds efter the bass, then you add a bunch of stuff after, that in my opinion isnt really needed. The mixing is most likely gonna pass a filter, and its gonna sound muddy? So my question is, do you do this cause you like it, or cause the current gen of music requires it?
Please share the sampling tips with stock fl plugin as my laptop is in bad condition where i can't have any big plugins to do sampling and help out with how to find the tempo or how to put the sample on tempo please its a request please do this
Fl slicer… manipulate the sample… remember samplers had minimal sample time hints the chipmunk sound… 9th wonder wad a FL studio user in the early days so it can be done without all the vsts
@@Handle_Edit I don’t want him to duplicate his beats I just want him to make a video are tips for similar beats. Also relax RZA sampled like everybody else lol
Dope vid as always ❣ but shouldn't you (as an experienced and knowledgeable educator) at least mention the potential downsides with sampling records you prob can't clear? Obviously you're not gonna get sued the second you rip it, but building your catalog with productions you don't fully own can/have/will cause issues for most producers. Would just be good for up-and-comers, who are brand new to the game, to know at least
I personally have always pitched my samples down, always hated that "chipmunk" sound. I started experiment with pitching up very subtly, about 2-3 semitones, but that's as far as i think I'll go for now 😂
I like the beat, but this is not soulful like the title claims. The beat sounds more like a classical beat with an opera sample. I would use a real soul sample to begin with.
Excellent stuff, truly, but i wouldnt call this remotely "spuklful". Its just sampling softer vibes, much like Dan the Automator did with Lovage. Its very pop-py but no this aint "soulful". But its good and i love your tutorails Navie.
half of the fun is the search and listening to music you've never heard or even thought about before. digital crate digging is tough sometimes when looking for a specific type of song to sample and you don't really have the record sleeve to give you any information to go off of (instruments, producers, even labels). I know they have channels dedicated to samples, but they are usually a big mixed variety. I like to use AllMusic and sites like that to go through compilation albums (similar to those timeless infomercial albums you'd see at like 3AM in the 90's and early 2000s). Anyway, I'm just sharing how I like to go about finding a random-specific type of song to sample that may help someone if they hit a brick wall when searching through UA-cam's algorithm. Anyone else do anything different when digital crate digging?

Is crazy but this Indian dude makes the best tutorials on UA-cam. Also, it has a good taste when it comes to Hip Hop. 👌
quick tip for making bass -
of you have problems with finding the right note for bass pattern, you can just put eq on ur sample and delete all high and middle stuff, put lots of distortion and try find what are the notes you hear
You could just low pass filter the sample and use that as the bassline
or eq the bass and consolidate it and then use newtone to find the note and take that midi and put in your piano roll
Once again, the GOAT blesses us with his expertise.
Wow, what an amazing video. So clever and clear. Makes me want to go into the studio and make beats again. Thank you

Eq the sample
I would recommend finding samples with thinner/no drums in that case
