I’m so desperate to make friends right now. I just started 10th grade and I feel like it’s going to end up being the same as freshman year where I was too scared to involve myself in anything and talk to people. Nobody talked to me first and I didn’t know how to start the conversation so I end up with no friends.
I can relate with you because I’m going into 10th grade at a new school and I only share one class with an old friend (study hall) and I’m very socially awkward and don’t know how to start conversations either-
but maybe a tip that could work is complimenting someone, then asking how their summer was, then maybe asking them if they think this year is gonna be a good year 😭 hopefully this helps.
@@luvhearts1 yeah I’ve tried that plus joining in conversations but I know it usually takes more effort than small talk for someone to actually like you and I can’t do much more than small talk 😅

You'll make the real friends girl! Be approchable. Maybe those people are scared too so ur not alone! If there is another new kid, talk to them since u have a thing in common as angel says. Don't stress! Forget what happend in 7th grade xxx

My problem is a number of things when it comes to making friends but it all falls down into consistency. I moved into a new school 10th grade year and I barely have anyone I can truly call a “friend”. I believe I have the confidence to talk to people, but I feel like when I talk it’s just boring small talk conversations about school or an upcoming test. Cause my talk is so boring I overthink and I can’t come up with anything interesting which makes it really hard to stay consistent with people and causes me to loose possible friends or only turn into acquaintances. Some people even ignore me cause of that. I want to get to know people make friends and have people actually looking for me after class, but my consistency isn’t allowing me to create friendships. So Ig the big question is how do I stay confident & consistent with people I barely know about?
I think you should talk about things THEY like or talk about THEM . Ask them about themselves. Make the other person feel good and comfortable with you .

I'm in desperate need of help, can someone please help me out with this situation:
So, I started 9th grade this week (art high school in Italy), so no one new each other, it's been 5 days of school and honestly I'm miserable. Middle school school years were hell so I wanted to have a fresh start in high school, but I guess it's not working and I'm already crying again. The first and second day of school were ok but then the third day of school I sat alone in class and it's like people already started to make groups and the people I talked to the first day are now in other groups and don't talk to me. And it's like suddenly everyone started to ignore me for no reason whatsoever bc we don't even know each other. For example, i heard this girl ask another girl if they were supposed to bring the drawing material and the girl answered her with some laughs and all, a few minutes later I ask the same thing to them and they just looked at me for one second and continued talking. There were like 10 situations just like this in 2 days. And now I'm too scared to start any conversation bc I constantly think they're just gonna ignore me, which made everything worse bc I was too scared to start a conversation even before this started to happen. And it's like they made groups even without knowing each other but they just simply chose that I wasn't part of it, and I honestly don't think I would fit in any of the groups in my class. I'm always that one person that's just there, not knowing what to say, like literally, how do they never run out of things to say????
And there's this girl in my class who I think her style is sooo cool and I'm really curious about her. But I think she's too cool for me. She has a black curly mullet, very white skin, unusual face (kind of like a white avatar), piercings, her eyebrows are cut in half and she wears lots of jewelry, black tops with no sleeves, black cargo pants and platforms, hard rock cafe hoodie with zipper. You get it. Although, I think her head is shaved off bc sometimes she wears african twists, and so I think she wears wigs and extensions. I really really wanted to be friends with her but it's so difficult. She failed so she is a year older than me and she only talks to this guy who failed with her (also in my class) and with her older class, so I think she's out of reach for me bc she always walks away to her old class on breaks, she does those cool handshakes only cool people do and she sits on the street in front of the school talking to a bunch of people. I barely know her so I don't know how she would react if I talked to her, and if I did I wouldn't know what to say. And it's actually impossible to find a time where she's not with her old class. How do I become friends with her?????
Hey I read your whole comment 💖 it must be really hard to be in that situation I had the same thing so many times because I always end up everywhere in the middle of the semester 🤣🤣 like I started high school 3 weeks later bc I transferred and everyone already had friends. Same for university I was a semester late bc i couldn’t get the visa on time and this year I missed orientation because I was moving soo everyone made friends w eachother and I was again like well f*ck🤣🤣 but in school I had the same thing as u at first I wanted to be friends w this alternative girl who was in one of my classes I also felt too shy and insecure to talk to her tho so I never did BUT right now looking back there is no such thing as “someone’s out of ur league” because all of that is just what we define in our heads and if u just get the confidence in yourself to talk to the person like you’re equals without putting them on a pedestal the “league” no longer exists. I’ve seen so many ppl do it, at the end of the day confidence is the defining factor and if u talk to someone without thinking ur inferior you’ll get the scoring reaction, so don’t think ure less then and try Ull never know maybe u guys can end up being really good friends (also don’t go on too hard at first tho because friendship is a gradual thing and it takes time to develop) there’s also a chance that u won’t like her once u talk to her or that u guys won’t click which is totally okay it’s just compatibility and it says nothing about your value as a person (it’s like choosing a jacket in the mall u don’t get upset that u don’t really like the pockets of the jacket and be like why doesn’t the jacket want to be worn by me 🤣 u just go and look in a different store for the one that’s a better match for u) so there might be someone else that’s a better match for u back in high school I’d never think I’d be best friends w the girl who later became my best friend, so also try to give a chance to ppl u might not have considered. Go to events too if u have time that’s liegit how I made friends in university and talk to people yourself it won’t always work out but who cares if it doesn’t it’s not a fit and move on to the next person

It takes time honestly, you need to be around someone a lot for you to become friends
I met my bestfriend 4 months into college. First 4 months I sat alone feeling lonely and miserable but then she came along and boom, besties. It takes time so don't get yourself down over not making new friends because it will happen eventually

well to me extraverted people tend to easily bounce off other extraverts,which is why they tend to gravitate towards one another. i think she doesn’t approach you because she prefers to hang with her closer friends? like everyone would rather hang around with their good friends than a stranger. she also doesn’t know that you want to befriend her.my best advice here is to approach her and ask her if she wants to be your friend.most people aren’t evil and would be more than happy to help.
