He was respectful. What the caller means by respectful is that you need to show subordinance and act like a scared little dog othewhise they take offence and have to "correct" you for thinking you're equals.

If you can get a ticket for beeping your horn in NYC, shouldn't everyone who drives be getting tickets constantly all day long? That's all that city does. Honk horns. It's constant. There's not a second that goes by where you're not hearing some ass laying on their horn. As if permanent bumper to bumper gridlocked traffic in tiny 1776 toll-tax streets isn't bad enough, you're also subjected to the most annoying sound ever produced by human hands. Who the fuck decided cars should have horns anyway? They're useless.

Only the lowest of society do that job, it's low paid, bad hours, and dangerous. You either can't get a decent job or you need authority in your otherwise mediocre life. Very few of them get into it to serve the public, as they are supposed to. So these losers who have no brains, have never been to college, have not run a successful business or have any real achievements, demand respect because they passed the application process to be a cop? Respecting groups is dumb anyway, you know there are always scumbags in groups.

There is a disconnect between the police and the community and that's because there are too many inflated egos within the force. Every single interaction I have had with a police officer has been a negative one and I'm the one who called them for help (once for getting hit by a semi on the highway, helping a girl who was just mugged and once for helping a man who was beaten and bloody on the street).
I treat them with kindness and respect and they have treated me with nothing but indignation. I am a young, white female, I could only imagine if I was of a different race.

I have to be honest, when someone working in a professional capacity calls me "buddy," in most cases it tends to irritate the fuck out of me. The fact is though, if I measure a benign intention behind it, I NEVER call them out on it. If I was a cop would I? Maybe if I was in a bad mood. For that reason, yes it is an absolute powertrip to say "It's officer, not buddy," and overall it makes the cop look like a dick. However, calling someone you don't know "buddy," in a non social scenario is WAY too casual. Jimmy is both right and wrong about this.
I only give respect to those who give me respect.......
