I am 58 years old and I grew up on this music. I don’t ever think I have a bad song from him
It was the first number one hit song in 1980
Haven't heard this song in a long time. But still remember every verse. Music of my youth!!!
Bingo....
"If you leave, at least in my lifetime
I've had one dream come true
I was blessed to be loved
By someone as wonderful as you" Love, Love, Love this song, takes me back to my younger days!!!!
I was 11 and my big sister was 21 when she died. And I’d cry my heart out hearing this song. I wished I had died and she lived. I’m 56 now and it still hurts hearing it 😢
I'm so sorry for your loss. Such a beautiful - but heartbreaking - song to remember her by. God bless you.
Man you truly loved her
Terrible news 😮😢
I cant imagine losing a sibling at such a young age. Sending you much love and healing. One day you’ll get to see her again and listen to this song together.
So sweet. Especially love:"If u leave, at least in my lifetime, I was blessed to be loved by someone as wonderful as you" ❤
This was the last #1 song of the 70s and first #1 of the 80s on American Top 40
Just think...in the middle of all that disco sweating and bumping and spinning and twisting and gyrating...there is nothing better than adding slow grinding to the formula....Even KC knew that and succeeded with songs like this....enjoy!
Yup memories
Love your reaction bro. Saw him in concert last night- 72 years old and still bringing all of us baby boomers out to party! New Sub. God Bless you guys.
On the very first week on the new decade of the 1980s, KC and the Sunshine Band had the #1 Hit with Please Don't Go, and Donna Summer had the #1 Album, Greatest Hits on the Radio volumes 1& 2. Two of disco's biggest artist, started the 80s on top.
I sooooo ❤️ this song!!! I would roller skate to this back in 1980...good times😊
You never hear bands sing songs like this anymore
My favorite KC and the sunshine band 🎵 song 🎵
I miss the 70's like you can't imagine! The music, the trends, the fun, the freedom feeling, the movements, the clothes, the protests, the dancing, the disco's, & most of all, we all just liked each other, without question 💞Great reaction 💞
Hearing his voice takes me back to my childhood and the 70's. It seems like a world away that long ago and a totally different world at that. I love this song and miss the music of the 70's and KC's awesome voice.
I grew up with Kc and love all their songs , singing right now... beautiful
Oh yes I agree with the comment right below me. KC and the Sunshine band song Give it up was their best best song in the 80s. It just makes you just want to dance and dance and dance and dance. ♥️❤️♥️ Peace and love fam. ✌️
Without a doubt, one of THE best contemporary songs, ever written, produced, and sung. Be sure and listen through again without interruptions.
So glad you discovered it. That was so precious how you took the hand of your sweetheart. ❤🥰
This really shows his voice , what a great memory
One of my all time favorite songs
YES!! Y'all listened to me. I told you this song is so pretty. KC is a master of entertainment. Y'all are an adorable couple!!
One of my favorites!!!!!
I loved this song... it was different for him to sing slow songs. But this is great.
Yep! KC decided to switch up with this awesome ballad and KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK! PERFECT SONG!!!🤩😍🥰❤ KC, if you sang this song to any girl who wanted to leave you, I'm pretty sure you were successful in changing her mind!😆
Even before I watched this, I liked it because I was in love with this song. Still am😍✨❤️❤️❤️
This song and Styx/ Babe were so special in Feb. of 1980 as my ex husband prepared to leave for basic training. This just brings back so many beautiful memories.
53 yr young here and this is the #1 song to me ever
What I love about your reactions: Mel is always so emotional and gentle. And Shawn is always shocked, caught off guard, really moved by the music! Together it’s great! ❤
Yes like that. It’s the profound sacred love between two human beings. It’s a prayer.
Mels voice is gold. She should have her own group. Her voice is like an Angel from Heaven!
Jam reminds me of pops. When my mother and him would have a fight and she'd leave. He would sit alone in the dark and blast this. He worshipped the ground she walked on. ❤
First #1 hit of all the 1980s: interesting fact.
Instant skating rink memories... Great great song. Thanks so much. ❤ 💙 💜 💖
There is only one song to dance to at the end of the night - And this is it
The most smooth song KC and the Sunshine Band ever did was a song the backed George McCrea on called Rock Your Baby!
he was so good. brings back memories of high school.
that dude so smooth he turn cream to butter
If you can’t dance to this song then you just can’t dance - great great song .
Such a beautiful song!!!!!! 💞💖🔥🔥
❤ all their music
Folks, next stop should be his duet with Teri DeSario "Yes I'm Ready" Mad crush on Teri!
Definite Must!
Yup
Been asking for that one since they started their KC journey 🎶🎵😎
One of my favorites of K.Cs😍
My first slow dance with a boy .....ever!!!! I will never forget!
All the feelings and listening to that song again and again and again. Love you ❤️
My youth…every word in my head…..it won’t go away…
YES! I was waiting for you to do this one!!!
I'd definitely take him back after that song but then again I'd never leave him because I've always had a crush on him!
You guys are extra cute reacting to a love song, I can see the love..
Easily my fav KC song!! 💞
Trivia: This was the first #1 single of the 1980s, the first week of January 1980 for one week. The previous week was Escape (The Pina Colada Song) by Rupert Holmes, and the following week was Babe by Styx.
Love me some KC!!
Like your timeline a lot Aloha from the paradise stay in good spirits and best of health ciaos
This is later KC after the famous funky tunes. It came out in 1979
Another great reaction! Love that you both love this band. You both are awesome!
This was released in 1979. Going to #1 on the US, Canadian and Australian charts.
Edit: Even though they had another hit in 1982/83, with "Give It Up". "Please Don't Go" was the last time they hit #1 on "American billboard charts"...
i am glad you didn't Mel you are such a sweet cute couple love you both y'all are like my own kids. love to you both from the one and only Memphis Tn.
Great memories! Thank you two for playing it
Ele ama essa mulher até hoje, com certeza absoluta ❤️
that bass line
One of those songs at the end of the disco where you get up close
My favorite song by them. ❤️ Such talented musicians - and fabulous camera work, too.
How could anyone go after hearing this song? So much fun watching you guys enjoy it. ❤️
Shawn and Mel,
I was in Bahrain in the middle east at Tylos Disco dancing this song (with a British Girlfriend that lived there from Birmingham, UK) was played for the first time (the song was released in July79) at Christmas time 1979 I believe and was deep into a romantic kiss and the moment, when I was tapped on the shoulder and informed we Military guys and Self defense force guys were on Alert to get back to the base. I told her that I would see her in a few days. 4 months later I saw her after going on a special op, top secret mission of rescuing civilians and diplomats off the beach in Iran during the Iranian crisis. She said that was the longest few days ever when I showed up after going on that mission. The British DJ, Mike Ocean was the DJ and I had him put that song on when Sharon and I got there to slow dance a proper long dance.LOL
KC and the Sunshine Band were jumping on the dance floor back then overseas and had LOTS of dance partners, and lady friends when times were fun and music was great! Keep up the great videos!
Mel, I love your hair!! Also, so glad you checked out this slower KC song.
I'm really glad you are checking out all their songs.
I bought this album in summer of ‘79….slow jam turns into a disco groove… The Miami Disco Sound 😀🌴❤️
This is the younger K.C, He sung this on American Bandstand. He is in his early 70’s , and he is touring and sing this song.
I love all of your reaction videos. I'm a fan!!
Y'all are in for a treat!!!...This is a baaaaad jam!!!....in my days.,
Love his music!
I love how you guys hold hands ... most dont do that on these music reactions .
I used to play this over and over (45 record). So many memories
I'm luvin' this rockin' new hair Mel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They had the best disco dance tracks.
Just got out of the AirForce and a couple of my friends and I started what was k own back then a garage band. We played Steppenwolf and doors. Outside we had a crowd and that’s where I first met KC.
We fizzled, and they bloomed. Interesting fact though was I went to school to become a respiratory therapist. While working at Cedars of Lebonan hospital in Miami I walked into a room to treat a patient, and low and behold there was kc!
I'm loving this music, and thank you for sharing that personal story. It touched my heart. Love seeing you and Mel!!!
“Give It Up” is another song by an older KC in the early 80s the video however is super super corny but the song is pretty good!
Every time I hear “Give It Up” the last few years I can’t help but think of the first “Kingsmen” movie. The song was used in such a strange context in the movie you’ll never hear it the same after that LOL
The bass guy...He is the GOAT!!!
Love you're engery thank you that song reminds me of a much better time❤
So excited when I saw this "alert". Just KNEW YOU'D LOVE IT! Yep...this hits home.
Cheers!
One of my favez. Got a tear that time.
That's KC this song is just a few years after he had us going hard on the dance floor in 1977 1978
You need to check out his duet of Him with the song Yes I'm Ready. Same flavor. I believe the female on the song is Desario.
I love them all but this is my favorite one by KC and the Sunshine Band...great reaction thank you
Oh, the memories! ❤️
Great reactions you guys are great!
KWS did a cover that was a big club / dance hit in the 90’s - might be worth checking out.
Yes, and in fact, I originally know this song by KWS. I found out later in life that this was actually KC+Sunshine’s song.
Brings back so many memories for me. 8th grade dance.
I told you I'd turn on the air conditioner.....why does everyone want to leave me....😭 ( J.D )
I love this song ❤️🎹🎶🎸
This song reminds me of my first luv who passed away
Classic song from 1980. Love this cut!
I remember roller skating to this song😊
Just imagine being 6 years old, and falling in love for the first time, and this was your jam!
K. C. up there lookin' like Elvis - no female's gonna walk away from that.
*You finally did it! KC's ballad! This song was released in 1979. Just so you know, K.W.S. did a cover of it in 1992. It's more upbeat and fun! I hope you check it out.*
This song played in my heart. My fiancé at 59 died in my arms. He was my high school crush and we reunited after 40 years. He’s been gone 2 years
Best reaction of this song
Please Don't Go is song 4 side a from their album Do You Wanna Go Party, I still have that vinyl album.
This was a different K C but I really liked it. Get down tonight. Yes I'm ready. KC was hot back in the day. I hope y'all really liked it.
Daaaang. Love this song.
Couples skate back in the day. Great memories.
You gotta love the wide collar! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
