How Our Kids Saved Us... We Almost Separated.

  • We're sharing this personal #Marriage story in hopes that it helps others in a similar situation feel understood and not alone. I will repeat, we stood together for EACH OTHER not our children, but... our children did widen our eyes open and helped us see the value in fighting to stay together VS fighting to separate just because separating is easier to do. Please NEVER ASSUME having children will save your relationship because it doesn't work that way! But us already being parents and married has helped our mentality switch from what the world promotes as "happiness" from a single's perspective as separate individuals ⇢to a marriage perspective from a GOD brain, and what truly matters in our future as a family, as Husband and Wife who vowed to become one and stay united forever.
1 Corinthians 13:13: "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."
1 Corinthians 16:14: "Do everything in love."

I'm a stay at home mom and I hate it. It was an option my husband presented and I took that leap of faith he would care for us. I sacrificed my financial independence and career. Financial shifts changes romantic relationships. Our child has come to see that he is abusive. Now that I dream of getting a divorced the financial hurdle is insurmountable. Another child created additional demands and the family made an adjustment. I recommend that no one give up their financial independence.

    • @candyluna2929

I'm sorry you're going through this! Thank you for sharing your story. I know it doesn't make it any better, but even when the man isn't abusive, giving up financial independence is often precarious. Thank you for the transparency.
I know everyone's situations are different, but if possible, I urge all men and women to never forget that we are multidimensional beings that are ever evolving. The choice between "work" or "family" is too black and white for the colorful lives God has given us. Speaking from a place of compassion and experience. My mother was such an amazing mother and wife, I will never take that for granted! But as her daughter, I wish I saw her pursue her dreams more. Maybe watch her win an award or take a spa day with friends. Have her own identity and self care outside of doing her hair/skincare etc. I'm an adult now and don't have those things to mirror.

@@candyluna2929 Maybe there were, maybe there weren't. There's people who change (or show their true colors) later in the relationship. Besides, there's other things that can also happen: the working partner ends up unemployed, gets sick, dies etc. So I do believe that it is important to **at least** maintain some sort of activity that you could put on your cv, but ideally keep working, even if it is in a part time job. My mom gave up on her studies/job to take care of us, and it was really sad to see her struggling for years to find a job. Thankfully she has been working for more than a year now and I'm so so proud of her🤧

I'm a stay at home mom and traditional wife. When my husband and I were just dating before we were married and had a baby, I feel that he didn't really love or appreciate me the way he does now that I am his wife and mother of his child. He used to go out a lot and had friends and family who would encourage him to go out to bars and stuff like that. But now he is so protective of our daughter and me and he does not go out or leave us. We are a very happy family. We also moved from NYC to Florida and live a very traditional life. What a difference from our friends and family in nyc. I feel bad for them but not everyone can pick up and leave. This life works for us and we are so much happier living this traditional way.

I see my daughters behavior changing so much due to major increases in screen time and indoor time. These things truly have big affects on our children.

This is real. We all start out naive about life and love. And then life teaches us what love truly is. The dating years are usually carefree with little responsibility towards each other. Once marriage and especially kids come along, we are tested as individuals and in marriage. It’s hard, really hard. But the trials and tribulations are worth it in the end, because wether the relationship continues or not these experiences make us better people for our selves and our children.

When they said about little Manny and having hope, “Even if it’s just a little bit of progress it’s worth it bcuz we owe that to him”, my heart flipped. That’s so beautiful and a feeling only a parent would know. Jesus Christ put that unconditional, self sacrificing feeling within parents so that just maybe, we can have a small glimpse of how He must have felt, what HIS sacrifice was about when He died on the cross so that we wouldn’t have to by grace through faith in Him alone. HE IS ALIVE FOREVERMORE HALLELUJAH!! You guys are incredible people, I admire your openness and honesty and commitment to your babies and each other. Thank you for being humble enough to share this. Incredible point about not being able to do it all. So many people encourage others, and I find many women tell other women, that they can have everything they want, but it’s simply not true. You literally do any and everything necessary so that your child thrives and when you do you will forever be blessed in life. I admire your love for one another and am so glad you are working it out for your family. You're so real and honest and we appreciate that. Much love from a fellow Austinite. 💛

I admire your courage to share this video. Very commendable to focus on your beautiful marriage but SO humbling and honorable how you stepped up as a father and put your son's needs first. I can't help but admire your paternal instincts in doing that. A lot of fathers may not have done that under the same circumstances. Wishing continued blessings & strength upon your family! ❤

Thank you for your courage to share. There is a lot to learn from your beautiful story. No one is perfect in this world. No one. And there is no one right portfolio to follow in life. Each of us go where life takes us and deal whatever positive and negative it throws at us. You’ve had your struggles, been tested as individuals, married couple and parents. and found a way to overcome. Be proud! Wish you both the best in life ❤️

This video made me smile. Our stories are
similiar. I had a very unexpected csection with my first. My husband and I experienced a lot of learning curves. I had a very healing VBAC 16 months ago and I could not have done it without my husband cheering me on ❤️ God bless y’all!

wow wow wow!! This has truly blessed me!! I had to stop at the 20min mark write this comment and subscribe. "I know the idea is out there that yes you can do it all" I personally believe that is why women are having so many "mental health" issues. As women we are burning ourselves out trying to keep up with unrealistic expectations set up by our society.

I literally had tears coming down my face as I watched this video. My family’s struggles have been different than yours, but our children have taught us to be more selfless, serving, and loving which in turn, strengthened our marriage as well. Lastly, as a working mother who prides herself in her work, I greatly appreciate the last comment you made about becoming a “traditional mother” because I’m also learning to slow down and re-prioritize my life. I admire your strength, Alba, and ALL the sacrifices you’ve each made for your children. It’s so beautiful and inspiring! May God continue to bless and build your relationship! ♥️♥️♥️

Wow, I've been following you for years now, and I'm so glad you guys did this video. So many people out there don't realise that the food they eat are having negative effects on their bodies (physically & mentally), and it's not just the people who have been diagnosed with something that need to be mindful about what they eat, it's everyone. Also, marriage and parenthood is not all glitz and glam like some believe, you really need to be open to learning, growth and love over all❤️. Thanks again for sharing!💕

I’ve been with my hubby since I was 15
Here we are now 20 years later …
It’s definitely a challenge to hold on to love 💗 we need more stories like this to see what real love looks like. It’s not what ppl think … it’s fighting daily.
But in the end it’s rewarding I think to hold on to your day 1 person, the person who really does know you inside and out and has real authentic love. (As long as no abuse involved)

Man, i’ve always admired manny, I like that he’s honestly, he’s gentle and he wears his heart on his sleeves. But he’s a family man and we need more of his kind these days. Alba is pure strength, she’s an OG, fearless queen. I thank God he gave you both the will power and strength to control and tame something you both had no awareness of, during that process, he sent a beautiful shining light that would keep you guys together as a family ( baby Alma). Your boy is in good hands, he will tell his story soon, he will share it with the world at his press conferences. He’s going to be something great.
Keep your head up guys, we are all going though something, some of us are going though mote things than others, but we are fighting the good fight as we embarked and disembarked on our individual journeys in life. Stay strong and never give up. ❤️😇.

Alba & manny. I so appreciate your honesty and transparency. This just encouraged me a TON. I am a young mom of three. My husband and I married at 21. I got pregnant at 22 with my daughter, The next year I had my son, the next year I had another son. I’m from Detroit and my husband Chicago. We moved to Mississippi for his work and we also have zero family. We never get to go out or anything. Our date nights are in the home as well. Our daughter is getting evaluated to see if she may be on the spectrum or if she has sensory problems. It’s so difficult for us to even goto the grocery store because too much stimulation aggravates her. My husband and I being newly married and newly parents and trying to get our daughter all the resources she needs has left our marriage on the back burner. But we love each other and we know our family purpose and purpose together is bigger than what we may face. I showed this to my husband and this encouraged us so much. May God bless your family abundantly.

Thank you for being SO transparent with us. I’ve been following you for 8 years and truly respect what you have decided to do for your family. As a soon to be wife I appreciated the marriage rawness. As a Social Worker, I want to strongly encourage you both to write a book on your experience because there are so many parents out there that get a diagnosis and their world falls apart. You have learned techniques and lived experience to be an essential tool for parents in need. May God continue to bless your marriage and children🙏🏽❤️
