    Year 2 to year 3 with the Dolphins could be a challenge. New DC, new defensive players and some assistants, Possibly 2 new OLinemen, new 3rd receiver. Could be feast… or not… won’t be famine.. just no playoffs.

    Until the OL shows me the money, they're still 20 somthing ranked, which is worse than mediocre.
    Armstead is the offensive line anchor and when he's out, the OL diffently suffers. Look for Armstead to be out 6 to 7 games. Without Williams and Hunt, I wouldn't bet that the OL will rank top 15.

    Agree with Josh's comment, "You want to build your team in the trenches". We typically seem to settle for "serviceable" offensive linemen. It'd be nice to have some "maulers" for a change.

    • @tttrickyyy5748
      @tttrickyyy5748 4 місяці тому +1

      Perception issue. What you may think is a mauler, McDaniel may not. That zone blocking scheme can be dominant as long as they stay healthy. The issue isn't a lack of talent, it has been injury!

    • @zenman1001
      @zenman1001 4 місяці тому

      @@tttrickyyy5748 I agree that McD is an offensive guru but PFF, PFN and most other objective outlets have our O-Line ranked in the bottom tier of teams. We have lost two outstanding players (Hunt & Williams) and will be lucky if we get half a season from Armstead. Having a fragile QB play behind a spotty line has prevented Tua from holding onto the ball for more than 2 seconds. I hope you are proven correct that we have a talented line but I don't currently share your optimism.

    Payton Manning was the best at "playing the chess game at the line of scrimmage."
    That is how he got by with average to below average physical traits (foot speed) for so long.
    To me, IMO, that the next step for TUA because the is does not have Lamar Jackson's speed to threaten the edges or Josh Allen's size and strength, nor will he develop it in this life time.
    That is the next step for this offense and if we can't get it done in year 5, we have a major problem with TUA??
    You cant get much better at the skill positions(Hill/Waddle) and pay a QB big money, the salary cap just won't allow it.
    This is why i am at 32.5-37.5 million per year with TUA.
    We need that cap space for the rest of the team around an average to above average QB if we want to win the Super Bowl.
    TUA needs to be able run our "bread and butter" stuff to the point where we force defenses to adjust and then punish them for their adjustments.
    Furthermore, with TUA's physical skill set, he needs to be able to anticipate the defense's adjustments in order to be able to take advantage of them.
    When "you're playing experienced, smart and disciplined defenses that are well coached" we need extra plays in the play book, not extra window dressing on the same plays we have shown on film all year. All that ever got us in the playoffs was a "Delay of Game" 5 yard penalty.
    But, if we "as a team" or a QB can't execute those "adjustment plays" for what ever reason i.e., QB Draw like Josh Allen/Lamar Jackson and the QB can't throw out side the numbers to the far hash beyond 20 yards, we will be a low ceiling offense this year and for that matter every year unless we have enough around the QB to cover for those weaknesses.
    The Dolphins will look great vs. average of below average defenses(Denver/Jets) but when we play the experienced, smart and disciplined defenses(KC/Ravens) that are well coached we will get beat 9 out of 10 times.

    Josh said apparently our coaching staff thinks to win let’s just score more than the other team? Why doesn’t the Dolphins front office go talk to Peyton Manning about how that worked out for him? Disaster city that’s all I can say defense wins championships.

  • @markfowler7815

    So it looks as if rg is going to be Eichenberg and LF guard will temporarily be Isaiah Wynn and when he gets hurt and out for the season like he does every year then we will roll with Jones. This is going to be a major mistake unless the Dolphins realize when they are not up to snuff they need to locate a legitimate starter and not stay stuck on stupid and cause a chain reaction of injuries like they do every year. In the NFL you are only as good as your weakest link and if you don't rectify it , it results in a chain reaction of injuries because you can't use backups for starters like the Dolphins always di because they are too cheap to get real starters . I know we are on a tight budget but 5 million per year for Roten rg is a complete steal and about all we can afford to pay.

    The problem with the offensive line is when Hill and waddle are not getting open fast like against playoff teams the line doesn't give tua and the wrs the time needed that's why they struggled against the better teams but lets just blame tua

    Keep talking about that Tennessee game! I didn't sleep at all that night. It made me commit to never watching an important game at night when I need to work the next morning. I want all 1pm or 4pm games. That way I have time to calm down after a big win or loss.

      I’m with you Richard. That was the worst day of 2023 for me. I could not sleep after that debacle. I still can’t believe we lost that game. Shula would NEVER lose a game like that. The league is different now I guess - the games are never over until they are over. That game reminded me of the Monday night game against the Jets when the Dolphins were up 30-7 and lost. So bad.

    It's ok to rotate backups on the ol but we still need two legitimate starters at left and right guard. You have to be living in a fantasy world if you are counting on Isaiah Wynn lg to remain healthy all year when you look at his injury's history. He is only a backup that you can rotate in occasionally to relieve a true starter.

    It's easy to point to the end of the season and say we collapsed, but ALL YEAR long, we weren't winning big games besides Dallas. We did lose to Tennessee, but we beat the Jets 30-0 and Dallas right after losing that game, so it's not like we just fell apart after losing to the Titans. We played 3 good teams to end the year and got beat, just like we did at BUF in week 4, at Philly in week 7 and vs. K.C in week 9. The only common denominator was when we played a good team, we lost. I also wonder why Tua can't go up to the line, call a play, call out protections or audible. Matt Stafford does it, Jordan Love does it, and Brock Purdy does it to an extent. Why doesn't Tua have the option to do that instead of just running the plays that are called? I don't believe it's Mike McDaniel not letting him either. I'm not sure if it's him not mastering the playbook, Mike noticing he isn't recognizing the correct defense on tape or what, but there's no reason he shouldn't be able to huddle quickly, (or not) and call plays at the line depending on what he's sees with the defense. The qb is supposed to be an extension of the play caller on the field and the best qbs play the chess game at the line of scrimmage. It's not every play, but you have to be able to have that chess match so to speak when you're playing experienced, smart and disciplined defenses that are well coached. I think it limits our ceiling on offense when we're calling 2 plays in the huddle and using motion to help Tua identify what the defense is in. We would be better and more efficient in loud environments without motion, by getting to the line and using hand signals to adjust on the fly. It would also help us in 2 minute, no huddle and end of half/games situations. That's the next step of the offense imo, when teams start to get more and more tape on us, we have to be able to do something different and still run our bread and butter plays without giving them tells or showing our hand with the same presnap motions and formations.

      Furthermore, you know football/dolphins football.

      but it was working until everyone got hurt. Once Connor went down the first time in the Denver game, the. Armstead the next week the offense slowed down. Waddle wasn't healthy all season and Hill was overused. If anything the offense OVERACHIEVED without a solid TE , and never having the starting 5 Oline. Right now, our offense is already better than last year with Jonnu and OBJ added. Hopefully we can get something from EZE cause he could have been the 3rd receiver threat we lacked

    Anybody have any idea if Trill Williams is still on the Injury Reserved list with the Dolphins?!?! With our need for another Safety, now seems like good as time as ever to give him another shot (and maybe Verone McKinley III as well) and let each of them participate in practice + preseason if both players are indeed healthy and still available.
