Sony ECMCS3(My Old Mic) VS Sony ECMLV1(My New One)

I've had the Sony ECMCS3 Clip Style Omnidirectional Stereo Microphone for about 3 years and even though it's serviceable the Sony Compact Stereo Lavalier Microphone ECMLV1 is only a $10 upgrade, was it worth it?

The Sony ECMLV1 was released along side the wireless ECM-W2BT microphone in 2021 and is a solid upgrade over the Sony ECMCS3 which is some years older. Currently the ECMLV1 is on sale for less than $30:www.amazon.com/dp/B08YJQXJRM?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details

On amazon buy a 5 dead cat pack for $9.9 that fit 0.3-0.5" diameter. Those are 0.4" so you can stick 1 on each side. Good luck!

Thank you, lavalier microphones definitely could but I'd recommend looking into the difference of microphones to make sure you get the one that'll work best for your situation.

If you stand say 10-15 ft away and talk, how well would it pick up? I need an inexpensive "plugin power" equipped mic solution to connect to a security camera. I'm not expecting quality audio or for what's being said to be legible - I just want to pickup general noise in the space being monitored. If you have any other ideas, I'm all ears.
