- IN THIS VIDEO WE MAKE SOME MORE PROGRESS ON THE MINI TRUCK. IT HAS HAS A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE IN THE FRONT END SINCE WE GOT IT. I WANTED TO LOOK AT THE ENTIRE STEERING AND SUSPENSION BEFORE WE INSTALL THE LIFT KIT. I FOUND SOME WORN OUT BUSHINGS THAT ARE NOT CHEAP TO SOURCE FOR THIS PARTICULAR MINI. I TOOK THEM OFF AND HAD THE CENTERS MACHINED STRAIGHT. NEXT WE INSTALLED OIL LITE BUSHINGS. IT WORKED OUT VERY WELL. AFT THAT WE START WITH THE LIFT KIT....THAT IS WHERE THINGS GO SOUTH FAST.....SHOUD HAVE JUST BUILT MY OWN.. HOPE YOU ENJOY.
Long time watcher of your videos. This is an awesome build. We had those trucks when I worked overseas. They were tough for sure and we used them without mercy. I never thought I would ever see one after that time that I would like but you've nailed it. This would be great to have on the farm. Excellent job JC. I'm looking forward to seeing it completed when your time allows.
makes a person mad when they spend hard earned money to buy a product that fits most of the time better off like you said build yourself thanks for sharing
Great video J.C.Smith it's a nice little project truck for your wife. To bad the aftermarket parts don't fit correctly. But in the end they will after you modify or make your own lift kit stay safe Mr & Mrs J.C.Smith.
Just is never enough time in a day!
I hope you will find the time. Please finish this great little dump truck series. It's a fantastic and a fun project. 2) Hope you feel better now respectively your health is back.
Best regards, luck and health to all 3 of you.
sick for 2 weeks so far and still not coming out of it yet. this is a struggle.

Hope you will feel better soon.
Sincerely yours.
I have same but 5 speed and supercharged 😊
Mr JC Awesome Project. Thanks for sharing and stay safe
Never enough space or time, space you can make time you never get more 👍👍
It’s been a while since I’ve seen the mini truck on the channel and it reminded me just how cool that truck is! Sorry to see the lift kit wasn’t right, I hope you find the time to create your own kit because knowing the way you build things it’ll be 10x stronger and better built than anything you could ever purchase. Take care J.C.👍
hello j.c. & mrs. smith its is randy and i like your video is cool thanks and super mini truck for mrs.smith and thanks j.c friends randy
J.C. Boy that radiator was really do for a cleaning
The good thing is you have the ability to reuse the parts and make your own to finish her truck. Look forward to seeing your fabing up the parts and making it work
Just pointing out that the bolts for the camber bolts are on backwards. Normally the nut goes on the inside and the bolt head outside. There is also normally a locking washer on the outside with the bolt head. I know it seems odd or backwards but it works.
nope. doesnt matter which way you put them. the bolt head and the nut head are the same diameter. the diameter of the bolt is the issue.
have a good weekend jc
50 years ago, adding shackle length, to a Chevrolet, was the same problem, guess what, we complained, parts were not made just for our need, we had to modify, adapt, make it work.
You will get it right. None of that stuff ever fits like advertised at least for me anyway. I have installed several kits on pick up's over the years and always had to add my touch to them in some way.
one project always to another right JC? grey market mini trucks are such a joy to work on/own as is, much less the oh so wonderful pleasures of aftermarket parts. aftermarket stuff for domestic/imported trucks are bad enough. frustrating but you'll overcome the roadblocks that never ending project throws at you
Have been waiting on this one.
Such a shame how the quality of aftermarket parts have gotten worse 😣 I don't blame you for just deciding to make your own. Enjoyed the video and take care 🔧🔩
I agree with you some aftermarket stuff is too generic not thought well plan or designed for the application.
I hope y'all are feeling better soon.
seems about par for aftermarket parts, at least your oillite bushings came out nice.
J.C this video is so clear and the color is perfect you must be using a new camera. ???
nope. same camera.
Hint: Japan uses the metric system...Nothing on that truck is 3/16th's lol
Complete pressure wash before starting, shows a whole lot of problems, that you may not want to see, also a clean problem is easer to fix.
Awesome Job on the build so far, that sucks the kit is junk
Would have could have should have. LOL!!
Let's be honest my friend... that is your wife's truck, this project will get done even if you roll it out to the back 40 lol
Hello from the Netherlands.
that really is a very ill-fitting lift kit
( is that sentence correct?)
( my English is unfortunately very bad,
I have dyslexia and I have never had English language lessons at school,
but I think NOTHING of that sentence is correct at all,
but no matter how I argue with Google Translate,
the sentence rolls out like this )
the biggest design flaw they made with these mini trucks is that the cab doesn't just tilt forward.
then you could easily reach the engine and the radiator, which is everything under the cabin .
thanks for for the video JC and Mrs.Smith .
Sincerely Hollandduck
Time is always in short supply.

Jc your auction buy although great intentions sometimes easier to buy a done vehicle although more$ then try to reconfigure the one you have won’t be as nice but will serve the same function admittedly you do great work as like me if you don’t finish when working on a project tends to sit a long while till you get back to it.👍it will be great once finished
couldnt find a right hand drive mini truck. otherwise she didnt want it. i dont mind spending the time. i just hate when i am set back because of faulty products.
Sorry to say JC you can’t win all the time but it’s only a set back, and yes we know that pisses you off Cheers Steve 🍺🍺🍺
Woould clearing away material on the riser to accommodate the bolts affect the integrity strength of the unit short of fabricating a new one?
it would. there almost zero room.
Mini truck looks good. After market parts, generally don't fit.
Hey JC question for you on electric over hydraulic pumps for a 1 ton 8 ft dump bed I know it's a double acting pump but how do I know how to get the right size pump for my application? There are no tags on the pump that I can see so I don't want to waste money on a pump that won't lift the bed. It's a steel 8ft 1 ton dump bed. Thanks for any advice if you can answer my question I know you know your stuff on these things.
there is a hydraulic chart online that outlines cylinder bore size and the lifting power with different pressure pumps. it doesnt take into account any engineered geometric mechanical advances like a scissor lift. most scissor lift companies list the rating with the required psi. to find out what yours is, just put a hydraulic pressure gauge in place of your hose and check it. make the gauge goes up high enough. i think mine is 6000psi.
Maybe it’s time to add on to the shop so you have some more space.
nope. its time to finish up the projects that are taking up space and get not get into that situation again.
Ya there’s that option also, but I understand that isn’t always an option. Recent part shortages as well as failures in quality make things have to wait at times.
I agree 100%. however, the ones in the shop right now have the parts....i have just let other thing get in front of them. so there is a lot of money in trucks and parts just sitting. time to get these finished up and then start on some new ones.
We never learn J.C.
could you use your vise to put matching offset bends in the new rear shackles?
probably could. it would loose some of its lift.
How utterly frustrating.
Do you have 4 bays?
6 bays. all are full of trucks that need finished. we are going to get these wrapped up and get back to how we use to do things before getting parts became an issue.
Is that a Cherry Bomb on the exhaust?
yes. old exhaust was in the way of the the new battery location.
Man that’s frustrating and I could see every obstacle before you mentioned it I’m sure you did to i hate when you buy shit and it’s nothing but a huge let down when it should be so simple.
How can you compare working on us semi truck, to problems working on a Chinese mini truck. That is not even apples compared to grapes.
