    Peter was right, there was nothing new about him.Most people who really know Peter do not report finding him arrogant and difficult to get on with. It is always certain people who report that they find him difficult to get on with. I would suggest that those people who constantly say they did not get on with him, also take a good look at themselves to determine why they they were unable to get on with him including how they approached him.

    Listening to this documentary makes me look at brother Peter Tosh different than how I used to view him. I now see a great spirit that was sent here on a mission. Listening to this documentary makes see a king that was way ahead of his time. I now understand that he was a person with a superior mindset that goes way beyond material boundaries. Lol! His sense of humor got Me cracking up when I heard the manes he give people to put them beneath, or against him. I felt sad shortly when I heard how bad those Babylon slaves beat him because the cowards feared him. It’s also sad to see that a lot of Jamaican people don’t barely know anything about The Great Peter Tosh like we should even though we’re thriving off legacy of his struggles. I think one of the reasons is because he was underrated by his own people. I think he was a fierce warrior that use words like a sword, and a lot of people didn’t understand him. I can tell by listening to this documentary, and some of his music that he had a very strong will and he wasn’t afraid of anything. A true soldier. “Real ting!”

    Peter Tosh and Jimmy Cliff made my favorite music from Jamaica but I never knew Tosh's backstory. It says something about our species that violence is used against artists who openly expressed revolutionary ideas.... Zappa was severely injured by a lunatic fan while on stage, Tosh was beaten by police and then murdered by criminals, Lennon was murdered by a lunatic. But their music and their message live on.

      Actually Bob was as militant as Peter but Chris Blackwell wanted to promote Bob as the opposite. Listen to Bob's interviews. Blackwell marketed Bob in a way to make more money but Bob and Peter were similar. They were good childhood friends. The government wanted Bob and Peter to shut up because they opened people's eyes. Even now the light skinned people are the ones in power in Jamaica. Why is that? Jacob Miller was left to die after his accident because like Bob and Peter, he spoke out against what they were doing. Did hear Bob went to see Peter after he was beaten. Sickening. Bob passing was horrible. You know they were all hurt. As a Jamaican listening to the white men shows they don't get it. Peter saying he wasn't new wasn't arrogant. He wasn't new. Reggae is definitely trash now. Dancehall. After Bob you did have decent 80s and 90s songs but not anymore

    • @fredvan6043
      @fredvan6043 Рік тому +1

      @@AS-wj1du What exactly do you mean by "marketing Bob as the opposite"? As not/less militant? Funny though, that in the same year of 1979, when Peter made the utterly commercial disco-reggae album "Mystic Man", Island records issued Marley's "Survival" - one of the most militant reggae albums of all time! So apparently there's something not quite right in your theory...

    Peter died a few weeks before I was born there. They like to compare Bob and Peter but they were brothers and any success Bob had wasn't about Peter envying him but the shis-tem he spoke about. Don't forget Jamaica was under British rule for years and black people were being oppressed. As it was said, non black people were in the top jobs. Who can blame them for wanting more for their people. That bob was half yt and propelled to the front over Peter and bunny wasn't overlooked. Bob wasn't as militant as Peter but they weren't the same people. They loved each other. People love to call Peter racist as if those same people didn't hold our people in bondage. Who was the racist? And it's the same thing saying black people are criminals when it was those same people who plundered, brutalised, stole and tortured the natives of the land. Who's the real monster?

They like black men doing their bidding because they don't want us to advance. Malcolm called them out just like Peter did so they labelled him arrogant just like they saw we're all violent when they were the beasts who plundered and violated. Can see why Peter could seem abrasive but he probably didn't trust people who seemed fake. He just spoke his mind. Don't like him saying women are inferior because men can't birth babies either. And we have different roles. The blood thing about females is in the Arab culture too. They think women should be at home at that time

    Bob Marley, was not the most talented of the three Wailers, that was Peter Tosh. Bob Marley had the cross over appeal (light skin and white features) of the 3 and Bob was more mild mannered, so he was an easier sell to the white audience.
    Tosh There is an interview out there with Chris Blackwell that explains everything. The original Wailer songs were remixed watered down (less drum and bass) to appeal to a mass audience or white if you will. That remixing of the Wailer’s music and the promotion of Bob as the lead singer pissed of Bunny and Peter and a part of the reason for the break up of the Wailers. Facts!

    • @fredvan6043
      @fredvan6043 Рік тому

      And Peter's music wasn't watered down then? Just listen to al the poppy shit he made after teaming up with the Rolling Stones, in his attempt to become a crossover pop star! And for your information, it was NOT Blackwell who promoted Bob as the lead singer; instead it was Lee Perry who changed the group's name from the Wailers into Bob Marley & the Wailers, after which Blackwell re-named them the Wailers again. Facts.

    • @AS-wj1du

      Partly true but you can't deny Bob's talent. He had a tough childhood like Peter. They both wanted to help the poor. They wanted to kill Bob too. They were both surrounded by wicked men. They were both talented. Maybe the ones who killed Peter took Bob out too. Bob wasn't mild mannered when you listened to his interviews

    • @donyutejamaica631
      @donyutejamaica631 Рік тому +2

      Bottom line is , Bob was made the front man for the Wailers because of cross over appeal (European features). Peter was too African and too aggressive for an international audience.

    • @fredvan6043
      @fredvan6043 Рік тому +1

      @@donyutejamaica631 Bob was not intentionally "made" the front man, but - right from the beginning - he was naturally and unanimously regarded as the group's leader and pivotal point, simply because he was the most gifted and most prolific composer and songwriter and the most charismatic performer. Had his skin been black as coal and Peter's half-white, that wouldn't have changed a thing, since talent has no colour. And after all, while Bob never made one "bad" album, Tosh after quitting the Wailers made only two more real good roots reggae albums, after which he quickly went downhill, making just slick commercial pop reggae aimed at a mainstream audience, though he never managed to equal Bob's success...

      @@donyutejamaica631 Facts... based on what, exactly? Gotta be serious: Tosh made just two great albums, after which he quickly went downhill. If it wasn't for his former Wailers membership, he would have been long forgotten, as just one out of the so many talented Jamaican artists of the 60's-70's.

    The song no nuclear weapon was written while living in the United States, While considering the Cold War between US sand Russia. He's telling both premieres not to go the route of nuclear weapons. How much more militant can one be by telling the two world superpowers. He's telling these two super gangsters, do not destroy the innocent civilian society with wars of nuclear weapons. He had a guitar made in the shape of a m16, saying while performing he's musically shooting injustices and unrighteousness.

    When Bob went on stage, he just sing and get of. Peter would speak to his people, especially if it was a predominantly black audience. These two men were similar to Malcolm X and Martin Luther King. Peter was very much like Malcolm X and Marcus Garvey.

    A stubborn man is angry man.
    And that makes no sense .
    You don't have confirmed to Western life.
    However it's better to get on with others around you.
    And just generally treat one another has you wish to treated .
    And that way , you go far.
    Because if you can't say nothing nice don't say nothing at all.
    That's just my views.

      If people didn't stand up to slavery or apartheid, nothing would have changed. Why don't you tell them to stop stealing and live in peace? You're telling the ones they've oppressed to live in peace? Surely not 😮

    Stop and look at the repertoire of Peter's songs as compared to Bunny and Bob. Their songs are more contemporary and mainstream. Peter was voicing what concerns and affect us. Honesty first time I heard Bunny's Electric Buggie, I Thought is was an American funk recording. Putting the lyrics aside for a moment and listen to the musical backing the uptempo style is out of the norm for a musical chant as what reggae really is. the lyrics of iron lion Zion is nonetheless very potent.
