One thing that definitely needs a look at is break shilling modes like Apoc Shadows. Since DoTs rely on enemies taking their turn, their dps drops off a cliff when the game mode gives stuff like “60% dmg reduction when not broken”to enemies. Maybe they should look at making DoTs doing like a basic attacks worth of toughness dmg if they match weaknesses or something.
A good Buff for Black Swan if she is eventually included in the "Old Character Buffs" is having her Arcana Stacks only drop by 1/2 instead of all, so quick stacking is still an important part of her Kit, but its not as punishing when they reset. For Kafka, I'd like to see her own Shock be able to stack(3x maybe?) and her Skill trigger DOTs from all 3 enemies hit. Something extra on her that I'm not sure how doable it is programming-wise, but it would be cool if there was a way to make her do what she does as a Boss, "Control" an enemy to advance their Turn and make them attack one of their allies. That would be great because it would both advance the enemy forward and make them take DOT DMG, but also delay their Turn since they would use their current one to attack their ally. It also skips the problem of "I advanced the enemy, now debuffs will tik and the enemy will kick my ass with the extra Turn".
I like the idea of a nihility support cause 1 enemy to attack a target of your choice and trigger dots. Then you have a multipurpose support that blade, yunli and mydei like as now you can make them more effective.

I sorta wish Freeze was more effective/plentiful, because with it enemies do take a Turn, but skip it+get advanced forward. Whether it is a sustain that helps sprinkle in DoT, a proper Harmony would be fun, since it helps contrast Acheron teams and opens up a lot of space. Like whenever this character's turn starts, or whenever this summon's turn starts. • For buffs to old characters, I'd love for Sampo to have some of his bounce attacks *burst* when they crit so in this larger enemy team size format he gets a wackier chance of deal toughness reduction and DoTs to more foes • For Luka I'd like if his Enhanced Basic had some action advance afterward, making him almost like a DoT-Hunt character to represent footwork. He can just keep making a strong target bleed over and over with stacks
Limited Physical Abundance "Blood Mage" type character. Applies physical damage bleeds to enemy, provides % healing to team based on a % of DoT damage dealt, with bleeds providing a normal amount of healing, and any other DoT type (wind shear, shock, burn, etc) at half healing rate. Kafka detonating DoTs can provide off-turn healing. Enemies taking DoT damage on their turn provides some healing to top off characters right before they get hit. Limited Harmony type character that provides an array of buffs dependent on the types of DoTs available on the field, a unique buff for each elemental DoT type. An Ult can empower an ally to enable them to apply all 4 elemental DoTs on each strike for # turns. While she's on the field, as a passive buff, like Fugue's exo-toughness, DoTs aren't removed when expired, and are instead extended by 1 additional enemy turn (but can be refreshed or extended from the 1 turn if reapplied before the enemy takes their next turn again). (Essentially unlimited duration DoTs if characters continue to reapply, though they cannot stack any higher than their normal cap)
Same here... she's one of the coolest characters story wise and most unique gameplay wise and yet she's barely had time to shine. Thanks for your support ❤️
imagine a character that advances the enemy forward while increasing debuff duration on said enemy, it'd be great for dot and counter characters while keeping superbreak teams at bay!
I think the Ruan Mei, Blackswan, Kafka core is fine. I think if the 4th slot was a nihility character who could apply their own d.o.t that would heal the team to minor extent every time it got triggered and potentially having that d.o.t do damage based on enemy max as a %. Their element would be physical or fire so that way there's no overlap in elements with Black Swan and Kafka.
Fun Fact: Triggering Black Swan's Arcana more often actually does more damage than stacking it to 50. Most of the damage is coming from the initial 7 stacks, and each stack after that only increases it by a tiny amount. What we need is a Freeze DoT to trigger all the DoT more frequently (Kafka can't detonate the initial 7 Arcana stacks due to how it was coded). We already have Imaginary DoT in the game, so a Freeze DoT isn't out of the question.
my changes for dot: AT LEAST make kafka detonate 100% of the dot on her skill and 125% on her ult cause the 75% leaves such a bad taste in the mouth. make swan's ult vuln debuff uptime 100% not just enemy turns cause its litterally an anti kafka synergy. kafka skill detonate the main target dot at 100% and 75% on the blast hit cause why dont they? cause rn the blast hit is useless except for weakness breaking. each time a dot is apply, increase the arcana stacking to make it easier. increasing black swan's skill def shred and increase the debuff uptime by 1, cause if they lean in blackswan supportive side would be nice and it can be like a 30%, maybeeee 35% or if hoyo is ultra nice then 40% def shred on her skill. also make her skill aracana application better cause consuming a skill point in a team where kafka eat all the skill points just for the same arcana application. increasing epiphany duration by 1 turn would be nice also. last change idk how to add but make it so having more dot types in a team actually worth smth more than just more dmg, kinda like how follow ups stack with more follow ups, the swan thing is nice but its not enough. maybe a burn will reduces enemy vulnerability each time it deals dmg, the wind dmg stacking up and transfer the stacks to another enemy, the bleed thing is cool, shock idk what to add and make kafka lc "erode" more unique
So in my head, what they can do with DoT is have it so they don’t expire, and allow new stack of DoT to be applied, this applies to Black Swan as well with her Arcana Stacks. What this essentially does is make DoT a slow start that gradually ramps up in damage as more and more stacks get applied. Do note, the way Kafka and Black Swan’s kits work, they incentivize that the entire team can apply different DoTs each which in general is impossible as a sustain is required bare minimum and If you want some kind of buffer, you lose another DoT source to a harmony unit. As mentioned in the video, the problem of Black Swan is that it’s impossible to fully stack up Arcana stacks before they reset. Do note that Bronya boss is already a hard counter to DoT as enemies have the nasty ability to fully cleanse all debuffs unlike the player who can only cleanse 1. Not to mention, Nihility units in general are squishy, as such making enemies have more turns is counterproductive as well since when they do provide a DoT weather, your units get rushed down before they can last long enough.
idea, maybe make it so that arcana doesn’t take the whole stack with it when it procs but only half this way you can still take advantage of procs even with more enemy actions and with kafka, have the proc on skill be all targets hit, honestly even then it probably won’t scale to 3.0 dps
My take on fixing dot through updating kafka and swan are these: Change kafka's dot to be similar to Jiao and Swan in that it provides a secondary effect. The effect would be that it provides detonation when the enemy is attacked or detonates whenever an enemy or ally takes a turn. This would increase dot dmg frequency without adding in a function like FUA or AA, and still maintain the concept of dot. For Swan, her kit is mostly fine, she just needs to produce more stacks since 50 is nearly impossible in most teams. Make it she works with any dot character in that she gains stacks when dots are applied. This could be capped to 3-5 or be stacked to 9 max stacks along side detonations. That way sampo, gui and luka are viable options for players who do not want to get kafka, but kafka still remains as her best support. The final adjustment I'd add is to create a f2p support for DoT/acheron. Reshape the kit for Preservation MC so that it works as a burn support with stronger shields. It should work with the trends lightcone, and have it so that they apply dot when they're attacked or a shielded ally is attacked. When they reach max charges, their enhanced attack will detonate burn dots. Finally add a small teamwide buff, where they provide dmg% to the team after they use EBA. Although it doesn't break the game like HMC or RMC, it does create a solid option for other teams.
Other than buffing Kafka and Bs themselves, they can add a stronger Harmony for DoT since Ruan Meis value falls off the cliff if enemies aren’t weak to both Kafka and Bs. A Harmony that can allow DoT of all Allie’s to crit depending on that Harmony characters own crit ratio along with a DoT of their own. Also a better sustain than HuoHuo who applies a DoT of their own and increases DoT dmg taken by enemies.
I don't know if this is still a thing or people just don't notice this, but DoT has one thing only they do, which is when enemies die while inflicted by DoT, the characters whose DoTs were on that enemy get the kill energy from that kill too. They simply need to buff that energy too, and this would barely infringe onto any other team/arctypes, except maybe Himeko or Hook.
