Me trying to start OP a couple years ago, ran into the same issue. I'd skip one by accident, trying to avoid filler and recaps. And a couple times, crunchyroll just had the wrong episode. A few times, episode 3 would be episode 4, and ep 4 would just repeat.
Oda really knows how to hit you. Remember way back when you started? Who knew that such a goofy show would get goofier, yet also more real and hauntingly authentic than you could've imagined?
"Fun" fact: When Rocinante tells Law "I love you" he says Aishiteruze instead of the much more common Daisuki. Aishiteruze is best understood as being reserved for the most important person in your life and is meant with utmost seriousness. I think Law laughs because of the disconnect between the goofball face and the very serious declaration of love and assumed it was a joke. But neither was a joke. He was smiling through the pain to protect Law, and when he said Aishiteruze, he *meant it*. There are many great backstories in One Piece. I think this one hits the hardest, even still.
aishiteru ze. Aishiteru is the declaration of love, the ze is separate, an end particle that represent an emphasis of will, of a masculine tone. It's like instead of saying "i truly love you", he says "Yo i truly love you man!" ....which doesn't detract from the honest sentiment but passes it off more casual and familiar, with a bit of a manly "don't worry dude" undertone. Franky uses "ze" a lot.
@@Babawze god i love learning about Japanese grammar and dialects from anime xD But yeah I think of the famous death scene from Oshi no ko where they say "aishteru" and mean it exactly like you mentioned.
Its amazing the juxtaposition of Doffy being a cruel embodiment of destruction and having this false twisted view of family, so long as they continue to be useful to him he 'cares', while Cora is a whole saint taking in this kid; who he has no way of knowing if he can really do anything to save him emotionally or physically, and giving him true unconditional love and support at the expense of himself. Despite having experienced the exact same circumstances as Doflamingo, he fought through kindness. Corazon is still one of my top favorite characters in one piece. Doflamingo was the elder brother of the two, but Rosinante was the best big bro.
29:15 The child that the marines saved was x-drake (diez drake) son of diez barrels, the pirate who had the op op fruit before doflamingo saw him, he has the same x scar on the chin
OH GOD HERE WE GO Corazon is genuinely one of the greatest backstory characters in all of One Piece. Entire essays can (and HAVE) been written on what an amazing character he is
If I'm not mistaken, Law meet Bepo quite early, he's quite fortunate to made some friends... Robin had no one for 20 years, to add to the injury she always need to be cautious because everyone is targeting her for bounty, I would be insane if I had to live alone for 20 years.. but yeah they both truly lose everything💔😢
The Queen! I loved how she reacted to Doffy's father; acknowledging and focusing on his intention and not the disaster that followed. To be a Celestial Dragon and find out that you are a human is a BIG accomplishment given circumstance. Sadly he did not take into account the harm his people had caused, and suffered for it, but it's a bigger accomplishment than almost every other Dragon. Also, it was nice to cry again. Especially with the Queen. RIP Corazon.
I understand our Queen's OP addiction and the new OP fans are lucky cause when I started watching. It was only up to Marineford. Then had to wait week to week after that. But it feels like watching the series for the first time again through the eyes of great OP fans and reactors like Queenblaze. It's also powerful and sweet how Corazon means "the heart" in Spanish hence Law's group being called The Heart Pirates. These backstories and characters in OP just hit deeper than others. I wonder if Oda was crying while writing and animating this one.
If Rebecca wasn't hungry that day, her mother would have lived. If Do Flamingo's father stayed in Marijoa, Doffy wouldn't have brought his reign of terror on the world, if King Riku wouldn't have complied with Do Flamingo's demands, things may be different, if Law haven't snitched to Vergo, Rosinante may have lived, and dressrosa saved. All these people are held up by regrets from the past, and it's really up to them to rise up from it, or plunge deeper into it.
Just a little extra bit, Corazon was clinging to what little life he had left so Law could cry and get away without being heard because if he died to early the silence would’ve been undone and Law would’ve been caught
This isn't the last time you will cry. I promise you that. But it will be happy tears at the end of this arc. Promise. This is one of the greatest arcs Oda ever did. You'll see! Keep watching Queen. We are crying with you. Trust me
This is one of the more heart-wrenching backstories. My 1st time through, it's the first one that made me sob*. Others made me tear up a little, but I actually had to take a short break from everything after this one. Broken. I was broken. Hearing Law crying, that did it, that shattered me. *"Cry" isn't a strong enough word
Knew it was gonna hit ALOT harder for this one though - Crying? - There's levels to this, and seeing how much she's come to be as much of a fan as anyone, I think we all kinda had a feeling it was going to hit like a Franky Strong Right, straight into the emotions. Had me collaterally choked back that gut punch from years ago like it was yesterday
No worries about the episode skip. I don't remember it all exactly but it basically shows Corazon stealing the fruit, which is how he got shot in the first place. You also got it right for what happened to Doflamingo. "You're a Celestial Dragon, you must be evil" I think it explains his actions, but does not justify them. We also have another sad backstory with Law added to the list. He lost everything and knew he was going to die so he just wanted to wreck everything. It's good that he found Corazon to help him be free. Thanks for the video.
What a sad joy to experience this for the first time. I'm glad we could share in your experience Queen, keep up the great work. Can't wait to see your reaction to the conclusion of this arc. 😁
the thing about doflamingo's father, and the rest of the nobles in general, is that they were raised to believe that any act they committed was justified, just because they were who they were, they all think and were raised with created countless generations are people thinking that the rest of the people loved to do whatever they wished or the belief that they weren't worth anything if they didn't (Edit: Not to justify anything that they've done, but that there's the potential for very good people at birth to be turned into awful people due to what they grow up around)
Every time I rewatch Law's backstory, I am reminded that it is the saddest in the series. Well... Maybe until that other one gets animated, possibly. But god damn this shit is so good.
Welcome to the 700 club queen 😢❤💔 1:00 well... they kinda do see themselves as gods. The Celestial dragons, that is. Set above the rest the top elites 8:27 currently looking up the history of lead poisoning and there were epidemics in the 7th century. Then the 20th century they used lead paint for their walls, cribs, toys, whatever.
The extra thing to keep in mind about Doffy's experience being a former Celestial Dragon as a kid is not only are the citizens taking revenge on that family because "They happen to be here" and hate Celestial Dragons, but 99% of the time they can't even consider revenge because an admiral can be called to pretty much kill them at any time. Now that they are one of the rare few families that doesn't have that kind of power anymore, they feel this is the only chance they get at revenge so they're making it count. It's really messed up, but I understand.
Oh snap I just realised who the boy is in the flash back after all these years and watching other reactors over and over again watch OP that;s X-drake hahaha I'm slow.
Finally made it to this part. It was voted second most iconic One Piece scene for One Piece Day 2024, ahead of Nami's Call for Help at #3, and beaten out only by Merry's Funeral at #1.
Chopper, Robin, and Law's backstories are the only ones in the anime that have managed to get me sobbing full on and I'll never NOT cry when seeing other people react to them, Oda is just incredible with his writing and Toei executed it perfectly.
This is probably the hardest you’ve cried at One Piece. Even though you don’t like to cry, Corazon deserves all of our tears as a community. Really the GOAT ❤
The dad to Doflamingo is actually a great example of where ignorance is a sin. You cannot be this reckless of a person, and not expect tragedy to also follow. It will always do that. He may have had noble aspirations, but the way to hell is paved with good intentions. Good actions is the way to heaven. I googled the quote and I never knew it had a follow up xD.
Yep, thats pretty much everybody's reaction to Law's backstory. It really hits you hard at why Luffy likes him a lot after this arc tbh, he chooses to be around good people, when he couldve choswn to be around bad, evil people.
A true bro, a great guardian, and if any former Celestial Dragon were worthy of the "D", in life or at their death, it would have certainly been Rosinante
LOL I love you hahaha. You are so funny and react just like I did when I watched One Piece for the first time. So much crying! You should watch 704 - it has a lot more of what Corazon did for Law in that episode. It's really sweet and worth watching :)
@QueenBlaze as you should know. Kid Law is still the same voice actor as grown up: Hiroshi Kamiya. Although he didn't have the confidence to do the child voice he was encourage to do so by the rest of the team.
Sengoku taking in Corazon makes it feel like the adopted Grandson of Sengoku, and Garps own grandson, ended up becoming pirates and forming an alliance together.

So reading and watching One Piece from the start all those years ago. I have finally realized what the One Piece is... It's the Emotional Damage we received this entire time 😂.
When you get fully caught up, we gotta know what you thought were the most emotional moments in the series. From the look of those racoon eyes, I'd say this one is way up there. But gotta know how it compares to saying goodbye to the Merry, Robin's backstory, Brook's backstory, or whatever Oda cooks up next
I DID IT AGAIN. I accidently skipped ep 704( Corazon stealing the devil fruit) My apologies!
No worries! Thanks for the heads up. Maybe you can include 704 in your next upload? As always, thanks for sharing your One Piece journey with us. ❤

I thought something was missing.
Getting too excited? 😂
Noooooo!!!! Such a great episode 😢 I hope you watched it yourself at least
the sad part about law's cry at the end, is that in that moment you know that corazon died for real....
might not be true, i believe his fruit works like sugars, so if he goes unconscious it stops working aswell
Not only that but the moment law hears his own cry he cries even harder 😢
oda needs to STOP getting BETTER at making us cry LMFAO
Fun fact: Corazon used "aishiteru" which means the deepest love you can have for someone so he really cared for law
Stoppp 😭😭😭
AGONYYYYYYYYY
Corazón is the Spanish word for "heart"
True love comes from the true acknowledgement and compassion for someones suffering, which is exactly what Corazon had when law stabbed him.
And also what Hancock thought Luffy said in Impel Down instead of "Arigato" lol
Oda really knows how to hit you.
Remember way back when you started? Who knew that such a goofy show would get goofier, yet also more real and hauntingly authentic than you could've imagined?
I really like seeing the growth in the characters
When Corazon kept taking Law to those hospitals, despite his protests, it's most likely the optimistic attitude he got from his father.
Damn after all these years I never made that connection 😭
I love how Oda shows Cora's death through the fruit power being undone. I'm sure when Law heard his own screams he was devastated 😭😭😭😭
