Taylor, your videos are awesome! So much practical, usable info. I’m a Realtor and I also shoot photos/videos for other agents in my market. Your videos are really helping me out and I’ve been able to step up my photo and video production quality just by watching your vids. Great info!
Taylor, I want you to know that I have learned a lot from you, thank you. There is something I wonder about; Should I color grade first and then add the LUT? Also, there is no lens correction effect in Final Cut Pro, how can I do this?
Glad to hear it! Apparently it helps if you're shooting in LOG to just do minor corrections/adjustments on the actual footage but have the conversion LUT as an adjustment layer over the whole project. Could do the same thing if you're filming using picture profiles but you'll just need to turn the intensity or opacity of the LUT wayyyy down. I think there is a distortion effect in Final Cut that helps. Have you tried looking in your camera menu to see if that's something you can do in-camera? Lots of them have that which is pretty helpful!
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo I took note of what you said about LUT. I don't know how to do the lens correction effect in Final Cut like you did for your drone shots in this video. I couldn't find anything with that name in the effects panel.
@@omerisik6127 I haven't ever had it work how I want it to exactly (as good as premiere pro) but it's called Distort. Had to check! So just scroll down in the Video Inspector Tab where you've got effects / crop / transform etc. and it says distort toward the bottom. Then just try adjusting the available settings to see what works for you or not. I shoot on cropped mode on my drone now most of the time to avoid it and to get a little more of an interesting shot when I don't need it to be ultra wide.
Agreed. This is almost always the ideal but not always practical depending on your work volume and client availability. Sometimes you just have to make the best out of what you can get no matter the conditions.
@@taylorgangis I would try them all out and see what works best for different lighting / dynamic range scenarios! I used to use HLG on my Sony A7iii and It looked great, and was pretty easy to work with. Check out this vid I found for more in depth insight! ua-cam.com/video/0yT2-XtCvJk/v-deo.html
Glad to! I used premiere pro for about 6 years but recently switched to Premiere Pro this year and have been liking it a lot (also only a one time cost vs paying forever monthly) I’ve heard DaVinci Resolve is good too but haven’t tried it yet (free)
Thanks for the content! Do you have any suggestion on how to start building portfolio in real estate photography? I have portfolio in other fields of photography but I don’t have any in real estate!
Thanks for checking it out! For sure, I would go ahead and shoot everything you have access to (your home, friends homes etc) and you could even rent an airbnb that has a look that goes with how you want your portfolio to be. It's a lot easier to build a portfolio that way than waiting for nice listings to come along at first. Model homes are also great if you can reach out to their sales reps to offer free photos ! More tips on getting started on some of my other vids too :)
Thanks!! I still have the Ronin S, but would recommend the newer versions if you're getting one! A lot more portable + user friendly. Check the links in description :)
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo I bet!! My friends think that now I have a gimbal I can run and jump and shake the camera and the footage will be butter smooth 🤣
Hey! I haven’t owned that camera but I’d imagine somewhere around 1200-2000 iso should be pretty safe for max. Do you have an option in-camera to correct lens distortion/vignetting? That might help or try zooming in to 18. Usually that will make it go away since there’s less distortion. Also if you happen to be using a VND make sure it’s not too strong and causing vignette. Let me know if that helps !
What the hell! LOL at 10:45 is that Williams Tower? Was this in the San Felipe building? Are you in Houston? I also film real estate and have been just curious about other people's settings and I see this and I had to do a double-take lol Im in Houston. I would just go with HLG or a standard picture profile. I had the same issues with my a7iii since it was 8 bit footage and too flat for what it could handle in slog3
Mine is CLOG (EOSR) in this video. Just whatever works best on your camera for you. When I had a7iii I used HLG most of the time since the colors on SLOG2/3 are a bit hard to grade (for me at least). I'd try them all out and see what you like working with the most! :)
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo thx! I live in Norway where the lack of daylight and sun often be the problem! Is there any profile picture that's best for these situation or its the same? Again Thx :D
I don’t remember the exact ones but I’d try HLG / Neutral and do some experimenting to see what works best for you! Having lenses with wider apertures will help too (2.8 or lower #) That must be challenging though!!
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo I'm on the a7iii I've tried slog-2. I just never can get it to look like other UA-camrs using the same set up. Idk I over expose 2 over like your supposed to but my image falls apart or gets weird color artifacts. I wish I could just watch them shoot and edit all at once in person start to finish
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo cody blue uses HLG a lot. I don't like his personality personally so I can't make it through his tutorials. I need to look into it more.
Great question! A few big benefits of using all manual controls is that you get a lot more control of the end look & settings won't be shifting during the middle of your video footage so it looks more professional. I've seen some people use auto settings on newer cameras for going inside/outside/changing conditions within long shots while still looking good though. So what's best for you definitley also depend on how your camera performs and how you work with it for the best results.
