Spoilers I honestly didn't think tweek would win this tourney. His play was so shaky vs anathema and chunky, and when he fought syrup game 4, I thought, yeah just not this week. But then, he beat syrup and thought "okay yeah, he wins this tourney." I just knew riddles and sonix was just not gonna be ready for tweek. Tweek also had some great counterplay, not even bothering monkey fliping basically at all at the end of game 3 where he had his massive lead, only pulling banana during ledgetraps so sonix cant take it and run, and just really clever recovery options like 16:50 where sonix thought jump, up b but tweek goes for jump, side b, wall jump, up b instead. Sonix got only two kills off a edgeguard which allowed tweek to find openings in sonix disadvantage and really exploiting sonic at its weakest point which is the ledgetrap.
Off all of Sonix opponents this year tweek was the most impressive unlike shadic he did not need three tries to beat Sonix. Zomba could not stop Sonix from resetting bracket and never really got too many grand finals afterwards. Light was pushed to a last game last hit situation where he barely won. But Tweek was special because he was the more consistent of Sonix opponents in terms of placements and the fact that he stops Sonix from resetting the bracket in a dominant fashion twice at two majors.

I don't hate him by any means but taking the lead and then immediately camping your opponent because no one can catch you won't win you any fans. Even players like Hungrybox have to abide by a ledge grab limit, but if your character is twice as fast as the person you're fighting then there are no rules to reign in the lameness.
If had a nickel for every time Sonix SD’ed in Grand Finals of a major on his last stock in a set vs Tweek, I’d have 2 nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it’s happened twice.
It’s so funny to me how the whole “Four Horsemen” thing lasted only like 3 or 4 months. It was literally just a temporary statistical anomaly. Tweek has always been *consistently* top 3 in the world in my book, and this is just another event that will someday show to prove it.
I'm a low level Diddy player but I love to theorize about the game. And although I think Diddy loses this MU, I believe is very competitive. One thing I loved seeing Tweek do more in this set is using the banana as a barrier right in front of Diddy. Having to deal with banana when Diddy has the lead can be obnoxious and generate a snowball effect against Sonic. Diddy needs to play this game with patience and make every lead count. Use banana on the floor to protect himself and wait for Sonic to rush. I think Tweek played this set with the perfect gameplan and that's why he won. Not just in this MU, but I believe that people have to learn to play better against Sonic when he doesn't have the lead. Sonic can be more exploitable when he needs to get close, and seeing players throw away their leads out of impatience is all Sonic wants. You have to be prepared to go to timeout like Tweek was.
He stopped camping a bit and got unpatient. Probably cause people would just hate on him again. The community is ruining free play style and smash and is down playing its potential. Because smash take every playstyle so personal there’s no adult vision on what actually needs to be done improve. If we were to work together to absolutely pin point all of sonic its weaknesses and look at it a realistic way and grind as community we could drop sonic to high tier. And you’ll see that when we keep improving the meta as a community that when a “mid tier” rises to the top that people will hate on it anyway If a playstyle doesn’t attract them or isnt aggressive and easy to follow.. Only a 4% percent of the smash community is actually looking into frame data and other micro management. That’s why other fighting game community’s don’t respect us. Cause we are salty losers with lack of philosophy. So we are stuck.

If he could box diddy out on even footing he'd be doing it, but he has to fish for a mistake from diddy because his character just doesn't have a way in otherwise. it's either the spin hits or it misses and he has to try again.
