    I so needed this! Thank you! Being a wife, mother, MBA student, doing youtube and my blog, and working full time my brain is on overload. I'm going to try this and hopefully I won't feel as overwhelmed and maybe I'll be more productive with everything.

    I just stared the Fire up and Focused Challenge - Day two and it was about Brain Dumps. I was amazed how many things I had going on inside my head. I am now learning to Purge it and organize it. It is an interesting and involving process.

    This was very helpful. I know I should do a brain dump more often because my head sometimes is just so full of random nonsense. LOL! My husband calls it craziness and sometimes I have to agree. :) It just helps to get it all down for further reference later on.
    Oh, and I always have to giggle when I see you smelling a book. My husband and I do the leather smell test all the time. There is just nothing like paper and leather to give yo uthat slice of nirvana. Funny story - I have a personal size black Finsbury Filofax, which is leather. I was going through a bunch of my journals and planners a few weeks back and the hubs glommed on to my Finsbury. He just started repeatedly sniffing the thing and saying, "Ah, that smells so nice!" I ended up giving him the darned thing because he was os in love with it. I also gave him a bunch of filler paper for it. He doesn't use it as a planner but as more of a notebook/brain dumping ground. He makes a lot of notes about fountain pens and such and will take it to meetings with him to write down things he needs to know.

    I know this is four months later, but thanks for the video. I've been doing brain dumps for years, I just never knew what to call it. Mine has always been in a notebook that I have carried in addition to my planner. I have kept both the planners and the notebooks for years. Occasionally it is fun to flip through them and when I became ill (rheumatoid disease) they were so helpful in getting info to my doctor. Thanks again.

    I do this ALL THE TIME because if I don't write something down, I'm going to forget it and then later on wonder what that cool thing I thought of earlier was and be sad that I can't remember. I always carry a notebook around just for this purpose and it works beautifully. Then I can look at my list and put things on to do lists or on my planner calendar or in my journal.

    My inner seven year old just doesn't hear " brain dump" without getting the giggles. I've always called it morning pages because years ago I took a course in creative writing and they suggest the morning to clear your mind for the day ahead.

    • @Paula-TCS
      @Paula-TCS 10 років тому +1

      I went through the exercises in the book, 'The Artist's Way' by Julia Cameron that follows the morning pages system, too. I found the whole book very beneficial and would highly recommend it.
      I'm also a giggler on the brain dump thing. 😜 Little things, eh! Actually, It's not really a term you heard a lot in the UK. I don't know what would be our equivalent description.

    Really appreciate this. I don't have a specific place for my brain dumping as I just do it on pieces paper. Once things get accomplished I just recycle it. Keeping it in one place never occured to me . Do you then keep the cahier and archive it ??
    I have a small faurdori/midori that I got from Chicsparrow that I has 3 notebooks in to keep track of finished knitting projects, books read, and favorite quotes. Maybe I could squeeze another in for this purpose. Once again MissVickybee you have got my wheels turning :)

    Thanks for sharing! I have a notepad that I carry in my purse and use in my desk also I put all that come to my head. I prefer having one place for all then categorize it and put it in my planner pad. I have many notepads(that I bought at Costco) can't wait o finish them so can buy midori style notebook.. I was looking in your channel and I was wondering did you did your Brain Dump process video yet?

    • @MissVickybee
      @MissVickybee  9 років тому

      ***** I do and that's what drives me insane and so it forces me to do it so that way I don't have to keep writing it. I sometimes can go a day or two and just use the same list until I get more done. If they are things to do far in advance I put them into a projects notebook.
