I am a homeschooling stay at home dad and I have found that by doing all these things we have productive and positive days! Treat your self and your at home job with the respect it deserves. It is a real job so put the effort in and "show up" just like you would working out side the home.

I couldn't agree more! I'm an author, as well as a vocal coach and English teacher - all of which are "home office" jobs. Starting the day out right will make the day productive and focused.

Love that reading your Bible is one of your first priorities❤ That is my first and most important thing for my self care in the morning. Got to work on that work out thing. I'm very active on the farm but I know a 15 minute work out would be very benificial! God bless

All these are great tips! I've been doing them and they have definitely been working for me. I especially like your emphasis on prayer time. I've been reading the New Testament for a couple years now a little by little each morning, and I'm almost done with it. It's a great habit to get into.

This is my typical morning routine as well. I'm usually up 1-2 hours before my children. It's really the only time of the day where I have a quiet house and I can focus. When I started working from home many years ago, I got the same great advice about being fully dressed and ready for the day, just as if I was going into the office. It helps me focus so much better. The main thing I do differently is to do my stretching exercises in the evening before bed, so that when I lie down, my muscles are relaxed and ready to rest. Thank you for giving us a peek at your day!

I watched this video yesterday and I have to tell you that this morning I drank a big glass of water, I was able to get in 5 minutes of quiet prayer time, and read the bible with my husband!! At first I was like "drink a big glass of water...? Really?" But what prudence! I'm pregnant with our third and have such trouble drinking enough water and what a difference it's made today! I'm sure you get this all the time but here's a reminder that your videos have a big impact on people's lives. Thank you so much, I love these tips. God bless your family and homestead.
P.S. You remind me SO much of my aunt who has 10 kids and your peace and smile! Lol.

A pinch of Celtic salt or pink Himalayan salt with the glass of water gives natural energy without the drop you get from caffeine or sugar. No jitters like too much caffeine. Learned this from Barbara Oneill, tried it and it really works.

Also, end of day review of day, Bible read and prayer, and list for tomorrow; and in morning confirm that list for the day. Once a week review week and plan next week. Suggest about 10-15 min total per day for daily, 15-25 min for weekly. Notes = minimal firm of journaling.

Start ur morning the night before
    Plan
    Prepare
I start breakfast the morning before, yes a full 24 hrs ahead lol After brkfast I soak steelcut oats or corn (called “grits”). Or I make sure there’s breakfast burritos taken out to the fridge. Or I make ahead a casserole. I used to make mega pots of porridge (the oats or corn) & then they just nuked their bowls.
I don’t function well in mornings so I want premade or ready to cook.
Before brkfst, I figure out lunch for the day, usually lentils/split peas and rice. I start them soaking right away. They don’t need more than 6 or 7 hrs. I have to set an alarm to start them in time tho as they take 45-60 min to cook. Or if I need bread for tunafish or egg salad then we need to bake it or pull from freezer. Or go to store lol Or allow enough time to make biscuits/bake big biscuits on stovetop. Again I’ll set an alarm or even do it after brkfast dishes are done so they’re ready.
Timeliness is everything, mommas! Not any harder or any more work involved just being time effective.
Always be thinking ahead, way ahead, in a country kitchen (aka frugal/nutrient dense kitchen).

So what advice would you have for a homeschooling mama of two, six and two, who is in her first trimester of pregnancy and is sick all day? My house feels like it’s falling down around my ears and I have no energy or drive at all to be productive, and the worse my house gets, the less motivation I have to fix it. My husband tries to help, but he works 10 hours four days a week then comes home to all of our animal chores and our girls while I take my sorry carcass off to bed. I live in a very isolated area with no one to help me except my six-year-old, who is a good worker when she wants to be. I guess I’m just feeling discouraged and would like someone to tell me I’m not failing, lol.

First off, allow yourself some grace. The phase of life you are in can be a real challenge. Second, if your family's needs are being met and your needs are being met, the house can fall apart until you are feeling well enough to tackle it, or tackle small necassary bits of it at a time.
I have 6 kids and another due in a few weeks. It took me too long to figure these two things out! Hang in there, mama! You're doing the work God wants you to do. It's the most challenging and rewarding work there is!

There are seasons of life when we need to rest, and you're in one. In time, you'll have more energy. Grow and nurture those little ones and yourself. Keep everyone warm, fed and alive, and you'll pull through. My third is due this June, so I know how you feel!

Relax your standards a bit, but also have your kids help. Make it a game. Tell the kids to burry you in clean laundry. You can fold it and sort it and they can race to put the piles away. :) When it's time for them to put the toys away, have them take them to their houses. My kids would do this and make a parade with the toys. :) Make lots of crock pot meals, with enough for leftovers so you aren't cooking as often.

What happens when you're youngest (3) is up regularly between 5am & 6am (sometimes earlier 😭)? I've tried to be up at 4 am, but when you get to bed by 11, 4am is really hard!! I can hear ppl now, get to bed earlier! Lol. If only it were that easy! I work at home and during the summer while my kids are home, I work in the evenings. 10 to 11 is my current bedtime due to work. How can you get all this done when you can't get up well before your kids do?!

How do you get yourself out of bed when you've had a rough night with the kids ( or got to bed late or....etc...)?! That is the hardest for me. I want to sleep as long as I can, i.e. until I have small children poking me to get up.

A few years ago I took a medication that completely altered my sleep patterns. I've struggled to be able to fix it since. I love waking before dawn, especially to enjoy that time before kids are up and get my day centered as you describe. Yet, I can't "just wake up" anymore. I can sleep right through alarms!
    Ideas anyone?

I can’t imagine be rested enough to get up before little kids/babies. I needed more sleep than my kids! Hypothyroid/poor adrenals, no supportive family.
I think my thyroid pooped after my very first baby (at 19!). It’s been a loooong very tired motherhood for me. I had more kids in my early 40s…
AND of course of my 5, I had only 1 that would sleep in mornings. The rest, if not morning ppl, would be up at least -🤦‍♀️

Routine that may need tweaking some.
    1. Never set alarm. If kids wake up early, hit them with a rolled up newspaper.
    2. Roll out of bed whenever. Yawn then spend 15 minutes trying to undo what Mr. Sandman did to my eyes during the
    night.
    3. Find evil bunny slippers and try to be encouraged by the humor in its flopping ears as you head to.....the head. Check weather on cellular. If raining, go back to bed. If not, pray for rain so you can go back to bed. Walk by kids room. Whack them with rolled up newspaper preemptively because you know they want to get up and watch Blues Clues on the 56 inch surround sound....
