I bought this Civic 2014 May 2023 with 200,000 miles. I could not find the plug, so I ordered one. Trans was slow until it warmed up, then it was ok. I added a quart just incase that was the issue, and it worked great. The following week I decided to change the fluid. I drained only 1 1/2 quarts of trans fluid! I put in 3 quarts to the overfill hole, so it was very low of fluid; but I got a great deal on the Civic because they thought the Trans was going bad. I found the original plug on top of the trans housing. Thank you for your video! I removed the vent today and it was clogged. ❤

I have never heard of the rubber plug breaking into parts. To start with, I would replace the plug with an original Honda in addition to cleaning the small vent. I mean that I park my car outside most of the time, and acorn shells had accumulated quite a bit under the battery area. At that time, the transmission oil plug was have popped out, and one of the acorn shells got into the hole(A squirrel may have gotten in). Anyway, you recommend changing the transmission oil fluid in this case, right? I already replaced the plug and cleaned the small vent now, and the only concern is that a small piece of acorn shell is still in the transmission tank.
@@wkhong3996 got you now! I think the only thing you can do now is replacing the fluid and see if any pieces come out the ATF drain plug. That process cannot harm anything and should cost around $50. I would think the acorn would be shred into tiny pieces inside the transmission. Not that I like the idea but you won’t be able to fish those acorns anyway.
this doesn't fix the problem yes you should keep the pressure vent clean but this happens when the rubber transmission plug shrinks from the heat over time it needs to be replaced.
I think it depends. It worked for me since the vent was completely blocked (like mine) and the plug is still snug. But you are also right, if they plug is not snug anymore cleaning the vent might help but the plug will eventually come out and you will be required to get a new one to be snug again. Somebody mentioned that in another comment.

Will this cause the checking engine light to come out by any chance? I was double checking the engine after the CL came out for the first time and I wonder if it’s this, especially since the scanner is not giving me an specific code for the issue.
I didn't get any codes when it happened to me. I thought my local mechanic forgot to put back the TR plug, I was so upset.
Was the rubber piece plugged?
@@gotitdoneYeah and I actually checked it now, it's unplugged again and dirty. I cleaned the vent as well. Tomorrow I'll do a clean and change TR fluid.
Because just yesterday, my coworker noticed my TR is slipping. Didn't know this popped plug is quite common.

Pls help the fill in plug keeps popping up out even after I clean the vent plug what should I do ? Replace the filll plug ?????
Unfortunately, yes, you have to replace the plug. The reason is that it kept popping up because the diameter shrunk a little bit already. Read the description on my video because I remember that I explained that exactly and the part you have to get.

I got 2015 honda civic. I got check emissions light on and check transmission sign on the dashboard.
Any one knows what would be the likely problem?
Have you checked the code numbers on the OBD port? Was your ATF plug coming out? If that was happening you should check the ATF level.

I noticed my transmission slipping, I checked it and the plug was missing. I removed the breather and it was so old it cracked. What happens if you simply dont replace the breather ?
I suppose leaving it without a breather is better than being plugged but I would still replace it. It is a cheap part. I added it some time ago to the description of the video.

Clean the vent then get a new plug as the rubber on the old plug gets soft and is prone to popping out
That is correct. I actually measured the different plugs in this video

Question. When the cap would pop off, would it spill out oil and if it did, did you car smell like burning oil?
It didn’t spill too much ATF fluid. I could see a little bit of a mess around that area. I put back some fluid to ensure the correct levels for the transmission to work properly.

If that cap is off long enough can it cause fluid to leak out and drip down the bottom?

Will that lil clogged pressure cap cause it to not move? And with the dipstick cap off and not knowing will the fluid evaporate cause ain’t no wet spots under the hood or on the ground.
@@BeenHadEnt when the pressure cap is clogged, the transmission fluid will get pressure and pop out the plugs. Some fluid could get out but won’t drip, so don’t expect wet spots
@@gotitdone will the clogged cap cause the car not to move ?
@@BeenHadEnt I don’t think so. The internal pressure will be released through the plug. That is why they pop out

Would this being off cause you to loose fluid ?
@@SaeedHabibullahJr yes, if it is off for a good period of time while you continue to drive. I discovered this on over of the used cars I bought. The previous owner was surprised when I showed him. There was fluid all over the top of the transmission case. I had to clean everything and ensure the fluid was at the right level again. I don’t think it loses a ton of fluid that will permanently damage the transmission but don’t run any risks please.

@@gotitdone so I replaced it and yes it was super gunk up but my plug still coming out.

One question! I found my filler plug out and fortunately, oil did not pop out from it. BUT I found the something broken acorn shell in there!! I tried to pull it out but it was going inside more now! Do I need to drain then the acorn shell will come out? Or is it okay to leave it?
I have never heard of the rubber plug breaking into parts. To start with, I would replace the plug with an original Honda in addition to cleaning the small vent. I bought one from Amazon for $12: a.co/d/bR16SYM. Then, I would change the ATF fluid once to see if those small parts come out.

This video explains how to change the ATF fluid: ua-cam.com/video/DU1aFb4iARQ/v-deo.htmlsi=bUs8LSJmR7UJal95
@@gotitdone Many thanks!!
this doesn't fix the problem yes you should keep the pressure vent clean but this happens when the rubber transmission plug shrinks from the heat over time it needs to be replaced.
@@gotitdone Its a cheap part best to just replace it when you clean the pressure valve it's not worth the risk of the plug popping again.
Following your suggestion I replaced the plug with an original Honda from Amazon for $12: a.co/d/bR16SYM
I measured the diameter of the new one and it was 20.7 mm. The old one that kept coming out was 20.24 mm.
Thank you!
Seems to me that the little plug would blow off easier could something else be going on I’m having this problem as well
In my case it was the vent that was fully blocked since it was facing forward.

Will this cause the checking engine light to come out by any chance? I was double checking the engine after the CL came out for the first time and I wonder if it’s this, especially since the scanner is not giving me an specific code for the issue.
I didn't get any codes when it happened to me.
I would imagine that if the transmission fluid gets too low and the transmission gets too hot you would get a code but for that to happen you would have to be losing fluid for a while and driving like crazy.
