Great video. Good explanations and well-spoken. Something I learnt from other videos is that certain games' fov is different to others based on the engine or something like that, so 100fov in battlefield can be different to 100fov in something like apex legends for example. Not sure how big the difference is however.
Each game certainly can feel quite different. Battlefield for example uses the vertical FOV for the options in settings whereas most other games list the horizontal FOV. This means that a 90 FOV in COD would actually have to be set as 74 FOV in Battlefield.
I've been experimenting with FOV in BF5... I always played with around 100, with no reason.. and this week I tested changing to 90.. then 80.. and I saw BIG improvements.. it's like I have more reaction time, hard to explain.. went on a killstreak of 10 last night, it was so easy and natural
You probably experience better reaction time because on a narrower FOV you have much less of your surroundings visible so it’s a bit easier to manage what you’re looking at. This is just a guess. Glad you found a setting that’s working for you! I’ve been working at 87 FOV for a while now. Haven’t adjusted it much in ages.
I have bad habit to turn the fov to high or max and play it like month and then lower it to middle or lower... and then there's days when i just change it every match because I don't feel conformable with nothing.
The only thing I can see that you didnt mention is if you're playing a game that has an extremely high top end FOV it can make you feel nauseous if you're not used to it
You could also mention that the mouse sensivity and the travel way changes a lot, so you have to adjust your sensitivity too. When you understand what I mean...
Yeah that's a big one. A certain sensitivity can feel much faster on lower fov than on a higher one, so you'd need to adjust it each time you changed your fov.
Typically you'd want a low sensitivity: high just enough to be able to track targets as they move and strafe, but low enough so that you don't oversweep them. The idea is that no matter how much the enemy jukes and dodges, you can keep the reticle on them at almost all times. I found my playstyle in Planetside 2 improve significantly when I lowered my sensitivity, as most fights consist of aiming down sights, and seeing who can click the other's head faster, no matter if they're strafing or crouch spamming.
@@HotSauceZee i seee man i never knew that i play console so its diffrent from pc i have too run at low fov for modt games. Low fov makes u feel slower but ur not slow
@@eckjett1299 exactly. It’s all a perception thing. The positive though is that all your opponents are locked at low FOV also so no unfair disadvantages.
You can see more of the field around you with high FOV so you have a longer amount of time to track enemies which makes them appear slower. What I think you may be thinking of is when your FOV is higher you feel like you move faster from your own perspective.
@@HotSauceZee i actually never knew this or thought about it honestly . Maybe its because i did not use low fov really . So firstly thank you for the correction and secondly i assume thr perfect fov is the highest low fov ( highest one that you can still see people )
You got it! Pretty much the highest you can tolerate is the best in my opinion. The benefits of higher FOV are worth the con of smaller targets and a bit of the fisheye effect.
Fov at either extreme makes me feel physically sick (especially on the lower end). Maybe with an ultra wide curved monitor I could play with 120 FOV, but right now 90 fov is perfect. As a side note, it's extremely frustrating that devs are STILL shipping games to console with like fucking 55 fov and no slider. I don't have a great PC and prefer to offload games to console when I can to not burn through my graphics card, but when I spend money on something and immidiately have to refund it because I'm playing it through a telescope, it's really annoying.
It’s definitely all a preference thing. As for consoles, FOV slider should become more the norm as consoles become more powerful and capable. Hopefully.
Do you guys have any more questions about FOV? This is most of the stuff I have learned so far on the subject. Hope y'all found it helpful!
This was exactly what I was looking for regarding FOV. You did a great job explaining it and providing helpful examples and I appreciate it!
Nice video man, I keep mine around the middle because both extremes make me feel sick. Great explanation!
Thank you so much for the feedback! FOV is certainly personal preference. Glad you found the range you like 👍🏻
Thank you so much for this info. I never heard of FOV until today and had no idea what it was.
You're welcome! Glad you found it helpful.
@@HotSauceZee indeed I did.
Just like my sensitivity, I wouldn't want it t0o high but I would like to have it higher than average

@@HotSauceZee I just came across this in Subnautica today funnily enough lol. Didn't know it was a thing. Thanks for the info

That happens to me as well. I’m constantly experimenting
Excellent explanation bro

For sure. Depends per person but that's definitely a very real thing that many experience with how a game's camera operates.

Thanks for the content. May I ask how do you record your gameplays. It looks very good.
I use OBS Studio at I think 25k bitrate!
@@HotSauceZee Cool bro. Keep up the good work.! Cheers
Happy to help! Thanks for watching!
So if fov is low should u have. High sens?
The two settings are independent of each other You could run low low if your wanted. It’s all about whichever you want to be at.

i prefer between 90 and 105 fov
I've recently been playing on 90 again myself.
I play console so I’m use to low fov, I got use to bigger targets.
I’d say low fov is best for snipers and lmg’s and high fov is best for shotguns and smg’s
FOV is very much preference. But if running ADS FOV off then it would provide some extra zoom on LMGs and Snipers to hang back and play distance.
Low fov in any fps game are really good for me and using low resolution like 800x600 stretched make the target really big
It’s all preference. I don’t care for the feel of recoil on low FOV.
Geart video
Thanks so much for stopping in and watching. Glad you enjoyed it!

Hey great video but i think you might be wrong with movement and fov , high fov makes the enemies faster if im not mistaking .

Yes it does
