While not under a $1, I have used a can of spam (GV brand is fine, much cheaper) divided in thirds and used each third, chopped or julienned, to make a meal. Veggies and potatoes or rice, as a soup, or stir-fry, each meal easily fed 3 adults. One can of spam and we were basically able to feed 9 people. I top roasts in the slow cooker with them, or throw them in soups to thicken them up. And sometimes as actual gravy. The cost here is about 33 cents. They're flat and smaller, so take up a lot less space than the cans.
I like it. Hidden Valley Ranch mix good for dips, also. I stocked up on mustard, ketchup, & mayo well over a year ago. So good of you to continue with these shopping ideas. Thanks, Jinni.
I think that Aldi's tuna in oil is a little cheaper. The oil will give extra calories if they are needed. Fat is a necessary part of diets. In a grid down scenario we may need that extra calories boost.
Make a hamburger gravy, add the pack of taco seasoning if you are not making a large amount only use half of taco seasoning and add a can of green chili's. Serve over home made biscuits or corn bread muffins. It is so good.
Blessings from Chicago. I use the stuffing in my meatloaf. It adds flavor and filler. Ramen seasoning is used to season other dishes. I have mason jars of dehydrated mixed vegetables for ramen meals. Great haul. You teach us to look beyond our list.😊 12oz frozen veggies are $0.98 at my Walmart. 4 bags of califlower yielded 1 pint degydrated.
Walmart has small cellophane bags of alphabet noodles and maybe some other shapes for 33 cents, I think three would make a pound. It is a Mexican company I think and the alphabets...is it me?...but they always tasted superior maybe because they are fine and absorb the flavor and it is amusing for children. I even buy like bunny shapes for myself. The seashells are superior tasting too. I like angel hair and do amazing things with it. But I wanted to tell all about the little gem bags of pasta. More of a morale/childrens pick me up.
Those little packets of Mexican pastas are just the right size for smaller amounts of crockpot surprise or casseroles! There's just the two of us, so I try to just make enough for just a couple of meals. Blessings from NW Florida!
I never noticed before, but those Mexican pasta shapes are made with REAL durum/wheat, (semolina) which is the best for pasta. The channel, Mary's Nest, pointed that out. They are very cheap in my area.
It might sound silly, but, if we go out to eat I ask for extra condiments, take them home, put them in a baggie & if my kids or grandkids take a packed lunch to work or school, I have the packets I give them. (Several places will give you way more than you need without even asking)
Love that you not only show us what we can get but you also give us tips and ideas on how we can use it. You always have ones that I haven’t tried yet. Great video!👍🏻
I loved what you stated about the ramen noodles. When our children were younger, and we camped a lot I did a very similar meal with a little browned beef, some canned tomatoes, frozen or canned mixed veggies and the ramen noodles. A little salt, pepper, garlic and it was a really good one pot meal over the fire while we were camping. The kids absolutely loved it.
I totally stocked up on our condiments. I do a under $1 shopping challenges. You can really find things at that price. I just found mac n cheese dinners for .78 cent. I bought 25 of them.
Items not available in Canada or my area of Canada the foil packets of tuna and other meat. Items still under $1 in my area of Canada are Ramen noodles, seasoning packets, tomato paste. Items not seen in my area of Canada are the small cans of dices chili pepper, diced jalapeños peppers, and diced potatoes. All other items are over $1.50 if available I am southeast of Edmonton Alberta Canada
My WM still has the GV Country Sausage and Gravy for $.98 a can. I use it in place of cream of soups. Chop up onion and celery and cook until tender, add in the gravy and a can of liquid (milk, broth ect). Stir and add a box of stuffing mix, stir gently, turn off heat and put on lid. Should be done in 10-15 minutes. I also chop up a head of cabbage, put in a bag with a little salt and put in the fridge for several hours or overnight. I dump out the entire bag, salty water and all, into a casserole dish. I add sliced onions and a can of the gravy and a can of milk. I like to add mustard of some kind, usually yellow and stoneground. Stir together and bake until the cabbage is tender . 350 for about an hour. Carrots are good to add. Can add other seasonings but I stick to what I like. Can also add unseasoned bread cubes or a box of stuffing.
My friend has shared how rough it is to stay in budget in that area. I wish it was different for you. Even though these prices aren't under $1 for you, the idea of the value is still true. These are economical in most every area, just on a different scale and also just as useful and flexible in supporting a bare-bones stockpiling plan.
Ground turkey or hamburger, shredded cabbage, (I use a bag of cold slaw, cook them up use some seasonings, or add some soy sauce and then when cooked, crumble a package of Ramen on top and cook a couple of minutes. Quick meal cooked in one pan, and delicious!
That's an amazing amount of items under $1. Thanks for sharing. I am going to make a trip to Walmart on a quest to buy $25 worth of items for under $1. Great idea and thanks for the tips on what to put together to come up with a meal.
Lots of great ideas in this haul and video! I was thinking that salt, some spices and probably baking soda would come in under $1.00?I’ve been slacking off a little lately, this is just the kick in the rear I need to go shopping! Thanks for all you do for us, it’s greatly appreciated.❤️🇺🇸
Leisa from Suttons Daze was canning 4 oz or 8 oz jars of ugly chicken. I immediately thought about how you can make your Ramen restaurant style at home.
Due to a cut in job hours we have been eating out of our stocked pantry for 3 weeks now. Variety is important, how many times can you pour gravy over something before it is nauseating. We opened a can of spam had a couple of sandwiches with the left over spam I made macaroni salad for with ranch dressing and pea's. Kroger has a good sale in my area of buy 5 for 99 cents. There tuna is usually .89 cents. We have a couple of more weeks to go with no shopping before we build back up our savings account. Keep stocking up on items when you can find them cheap. You can never tell when something is going to come along and knock the wind out of you.
I found a bargain store in my area that had non gmo seeds from last year for 10 cents a pack. You may not get 100% germination but you should get 80 to 85 %. You can't beat that. I bought tomato seeds, herbs, peppers, radishes, squash, zucchini, carrots, lettuce, beans, cucumbers, peas, okra, pumpkins, cantelope, watermelon, etc. I think I bought 82 packs for $8.20. I'm going to get a ton of food. I'm starting some seeds today. Any extra plants that I have I will sell or give away.
Fry up those (drained) diced potatoes just a bit; add a little diced onion; then add the (drained) peas, coconut milk, and curry powder - or use another curry or korma sauce. :)
I have been appalled at how many young people have no idea how to plan a grocery list, let alone a budget! I have taught many (& my sons have taught their friends) how to make the most of what they have and give themselves a little food security. I always suggest to newbies that they pick a dollar amount that is for getting extras for the stockpile each shopping trip. To generate the $$ for stockpiling I suggest implementing at least 2-4 very cut-rate meals a week (oatmeal- not in$tant- for breakfast, pancake & eggs for dinner or beans, pack your own lunch, etc) and no fast food, even cheap stuff is expensive when $$ are tight. That might only generate $10 but that is a great start for a small family. First 3-4 trips, get actual basic foods (starches, veggies, tomato products, beans). Next 4-8 trips, get variations (mushrooms, cream soups, chilis, gravy, seasoning & sauce packets) plus 1 or 2 meat items. Trips after that start a list of bulk seasonings to systematically add one at a time to the pantry plus more of everything else they have been getting. It seams to have worked very well for most.
Beautiful prepped pantry stuff and thanks for sharing. I guess, Walmart carries great value stuff, I will try and get stuff if I can find these items. Thanks again for sharing. Beautiful video. 🙏👍✝️🌷🌺☘️🌟❤️👏
Great video Jinne ….. you got quite a variety of things. To be honest, even though I’ve been in Walmart many times in the last month, I’ve never done a search for items that were specifically under a dollar. Usually I’m looking for specific things but next time I go, I will take the time to really concentrate on that. Thank you for your hard work and great info !! Love your channel ❤️
I always shop by price and get the cheapest things on the shelves. I also do unit price comparisons. Be careful because they are tricky and sneaky. You think you are paying less but you would be surpeised at how much more per unit you are paying. Needless to say, my math skills are improving exponentially! lol..
Thank you for your video. There's no such thing as "under a buck" here in Commie Canaduh, ... unless it's a one time sale on soups. Ramen noodles don't count eh? Damn the price, FULL PREP AHEAD! Keep up the great work And good luck.
Surprisingly, I found Libby's Sweet Corn (sea salt) 4-pk for $3.46. GREAT DEAL -- if you like salt. Very salty. I like salt so - 4 cans of Libby's under a dollar each. Works for meee. 😊
I just got the same pastas from Walmart along with a case of each vegetables, cream soups and tomatoes. Was finally able to get a few 1lbs bags of the Northern White beans, haven't seen them in so long. Thank you for sharing, you did fantastic.
I grew up on potted meat & pickle sandwiches - Spent every summer with my grandmother and her sisters who all grew up during the Depression. Lunch meat was for fancy people :)
Hi Jinne, I so appreciate you doing these. People beginning to get their pantries filled will especially benefit from these videos. Plus those of us that have been doing this a while can get ideas for our own pantries. I'm working on putting some pasta in Mason jars and using oxygen absorbers so it lasts longer. I didn't grow up with Vienna sausage but the plus is that you can add it to a can of pork and beans or Mac and cheese. Add some canned vegetables for a complete meal. Back when I was doing Weight Watchers there's a great recipe with cornbread stuffing mix, a small can of green chilies and onions and hamburger for a Mexican meatloaf. It had the enchilada sauce on top. I really liked it. I would only put 1/2 can of green chilies in it, because I grew up in the Midwest and wasn't exposed to spicy foods.
The ramen soups..I try to get beef. The seasoning is great for French onion soup. I have also used them in a pinch to make a quick gravy. Any kind of cream soup, I add a packet for a little extra boost. It also works to toss on potato wedges with olive oil and bake for some zesty fries!
That was a great haul challenge Jinne! It's like a shopping treasure hunt! You could even get older children involved to find items for you to make it a family challenge. I love your shirt also. Coffee is my only vice so I enjoy it. I have plenty stored up.😊👍☕ Have a great night with your family.😊👍⭐
I use the Ramen noodles in the cup. I add the Great Value mylar packet of Premium White Chicken from the tuna isle. This chicken is cubed so it fits nicely inside the styrofoam cup. On occasion I will add some of that taco powder. About $2 per serving. The chicken takes this to a much higher nutritional level. Great meal on the trail or shtf....and only the fork to wash. Great vid!
Walmart sells 10# of chicken quarters for $6.42 or 62¢ a pound. I washed, trimmed and pressure canned 20# of them. It is so easy to make chicken noodle soup with them. I put 5 pieces in a quart jar with chicken broth for canning. Open the jar, remove the pieces from the jar, save the liquid for your soup. I also love their frozen veggies. They are cleaned, trimmed and flash frozen the day they are picked. I dehydrated a bunch of them as well as some fresh celery. I can throw mixed veggies or peas or dehydrated onions in the soup as well. Throw dehydrated broccoli florets into Mac and cheese after rehydrating. Put dehydrated peas in your tuna casserole after hydrating. I have 2 Excalibur dehydrators (excellent quality) that I bought at yard sales for 10% of the cost of new!
Buy plenty of $1 bags of rice to put aside for barter. When neighbours come begging for food, just give them a $1 bag of rice or pasta, rather than let them know you have a 10kg sack.
Like you I store stuffing mix. I take 6or7 boxes and empty them in a huge glass jar or plastic cereal container with a few bay leafs and it keeps bugs out. Love your segment today. Thanks
The ramen could also be stir fried - yes, you do need to boil them first, then strain, then cut if you like, to go further, but totally worth it. Add your meat, veggies, eggs, whatever to make a good meal. Plus, in that way, you can feed at least 2 adults with 1 packet.
I've started my food inventory last week. I've moved all cans into new plastic tote boxes with lids, so I'll fill one box with just potatoes, another just sweetcorn, another just carrots, and so on. Once I start dipping into these preps, or add to them, I'll use my inventory to change the amount. That way I can see what else I need to buy, how much I have left, and plan meals.
Please don't stockpile in that way. If you lost a bin you would lose all of whatever you lost. You'd lose all your meat. You'd lose all your sugar. You'd lose all your corn, carrots, peas, or what ever. Make it so You'd have a meal if you could only grab one PAck, packet, bunch, group, jar...one sack!!!!

Yes, I love the small shells. Cooked in toatoe meat sauce, doesn't suck up all the sauce
Also good in soups
Blessings
It might sound silly, but, if we go out to eat I ask for extra condiments, take them home, put them in a baggie & if my kids or grandkids take a packed lunch to work or school, I have the packets I give them. (Several places will give you way more than you need without even asking)
Thanks Jinne. Lots of great recipe ideas.
Love that you not only show us what we can get but you also give us tips and ideas on how we can use it. You always have ones that I haven’t tried yet. Great video!👍🏻
Wow you did an excellent job. It shows how you can start a food pantry for very little . You can stick pile very quick.
Wow you got a lot of good stuff great deals I'm still prepping ❤ 😊
Aldis has their brand cup a soup 3 pack onion and chicken under a dollar. Also their spices are .97.
I like to grab the sliced water chestnuts to chop up and add for texture it’s great in rice dishes
And chicken salad.
@@girlnextdoorgrooming and tuna salad
I like the Ranch dressing for ranch potatoes.
Years ago, you could buy Kraft Mac and cheese, 4 for a dollar.
This was a great video. Nice to know we can still buy things for a dollar or less. Thanks.
Great video, Jinne! I look forward to them all, though I'm certain you are a busy lady! Thank you for all you do!❤
Items not available in Canada or my area of Canada the foil packets of tuna and other meat.
Great haul there girly . Awesome . GODBLESS sweetie
I live in BC Canada, and you could never get any of this for under a dollar.. That is a great haul...
Quick meal cooked in one pan, and delicious!
we use a packet of taco seasoning in chili instead of chili power, garlic, etc
You got a lot of stuff for under 1 dollar , you did real good , can't believe most of the cans you showed have pull tops on them , Thanks Jinne
Sadly that's mostly what's available here...
That's an amazing amount of items under $1. Thanks for sharing. I am going to make a trip to Walmart on a quest to buy $25 worth of items for under $1. Great idea and thanks for the tips on what to put together to come up with a meal.
Aldi for condiments…..not all under a dollar…but by far cheapest and best quality for the price. Tuna under a dollar per can at Aldi.
Thank you friend!❤
Thank you for ideas that you share with us!
Leisa from Suttons Daze was canning 4 oz or 8 oz jars of ugly chicken. I immediately thought about how you can make your Ramen restaurant style at home.
I was in the corn chip aisle and was sticker shocked...house brand...fabulous.
Walmart online has great value tuna in water for 88 cents and sardines in salted water for 98 cents.
I need to borrow you for a day to help stock me up. Lol I'll buy of course.
Jinne, that was quite the haul for $29 and change. I'm impressed.
Can you use the powdered potatoes to prepare a soup in a jar with your dehydrated items?
I found a bargain store in my area that had non gmo seeds from last year for 10 cents a pack. You may not get 100% germination but you should get 80 to 85 %. You can't beat that. I bought tomato seeds, herbs, peppers, radishes, squash, zucchini, carrots, lettuce, beans, cucumbers, peas, okra, pumpkins, cantelope, watermelon, etc. I think I bought 82 packs for $8.20. I'm going to get a ton of food. I'm starting some seeds today. Any extra plants that I have I will sell or give away.
Simple foods still feed
People.Thanks for keeping that message
Prominent for our tables.
You did great there Jinne, & a good variety too. 👍
TFS HC, take care & keep busy everyone. ❤🙂🐶
I was really surprised to see that Walmart (mine anyway) sold a 5oz CAN of chunk light tuna in water for 88 cents!! I’m in east Atlanta suburbs.
Needless to say, my math skills are improving exponentially! lol..
@@stephaniewoods6505 Sometimes the cheapest items are NOT the lowest price per ounce, it does pay to do the math! 😊
My family likes to add an egg, sliced American cheese and sriracha to their Murachan noodles.
Thank you for your video.
There's no such thing as "under a buck" here in Commie Canaduh, ... unless it's a one time sale on soups.
Ramen noodles don't count eh?
Damn the price, FULL PREP AHEAD!
Keep up the great work
And good luck.
Surprisingly, I found Libby's Sweet Corn (sea salt) 4-pk for $3.46. GREAT DEAL -- if you like salt. Very salty. I like salt so - 4 cans of Libby's under a dollar each. Works for meee. 😊
Red enchilada sauce is cheap and easy to make!
Hello have a good evening.
What a great idea! I want to go to my Walmart in northern CA and see if I can get as much as you did!
Thank you!!!
DID NOT KNOW THIS ABOUT THE PULL TOPS! Thanks for letting us know about this for those like me still in the dark!
Excellent work Jinne! Thanks for all the great ideas!
You can fry up those Vienna sausages like a breakfast sausage...
@@HomesteadCorner that too!
Same here! Coffee:breakfast of Champions!
I have found that using instant potatoes is rock star for thickening soups/stews/chilis,
I use the Ramen noodles in the cup. Great vid!
Good haul, thanks for sharing 😊
Thank you
Buy plenty of $1 bags of rice to put aside for barter.
Thanks
Thank you Jinne. A potato cake under any of the dishes you mentioned is good eats, God Bless and stay safe.
You can put the powder ranch in the flake potatoes and put it on meat
That's crazy that you can't get sardines or tuna under $1! Those used to be so cheap
I love watching your prepping list. I’ve picked up so many new items
i love these dollar shows gives me great ideas. You are looking great, lost weight
The ramen could also be stir fried - yes, you do need to boil them first, then strain, then cut if you like, to go further, but totally worth it. Add your meat, veggies, eggs, whatever to make a good meal. Plus, in that way, you can feed at least 2 adults with 1 packet.
I do the same and usually use left over meat from a previous meal and have even added a scrambled egg when meat was scarce.😉
@Janet Fisher Yes, one reason peas are used as an add in for ramen/cup-o-noodles, protein. Get it however you can =)
I hit different stores food is food stocking a pantry the cheaper the better. Great haul. Thanks for sharing.
Imma need your crockpot chicken with that dry italian dressing recipe... That sounds delicious!!!!!
Online walmart might be cheaper because single canned tuna is 88 cents and all the types of pasta is 98 cents...great value brand for both
Ok. Can I say- That shirt rocks!
