    Would "audiophile" not apply for music-lover?

    • @votederpycausemufins

      that's what i was going to say

    • @Edgewalker001

      Or whatever the actual word for music is in latin. Or wait, is that latin or old greece? I can never tell those two apart and I know neither aside from specific words.
      But either way, it's a suffix, so you just take whatever the word for music is and then slap on "phile" and you have music lover right there.

    • @antivanti
      @antivanti 10 років тому +13

      No. An audiophile refers to interest in the quality of the sound reproduction not the music itself.

    • @emmanewson4364
      @emmanewson4364 10 років тому

      Well sorry however pedophile does not mean love of children it (literally) translates to something like strong love of little boys not children and the direct translation of a word is not its definition

    • @Master_Therion
      @Master_Therion 10 років тому +2

      Emma Newson In Greek there are 4 words for "love" -philia means friendly love, -eros is physical or romantic love. So the actual translation of pedophilia would be "child-friend" or something. However, none of that matters. In English it has come to mean "romantic or sexual love of children."

      Same thing with cabbage patch.
      Things are not worth millions if they have 10 million of them floating around. You have to wait 50-80 years when they've all been ruined or thrown away, then the 50 left over perfect beanie babies will be worth money.

    I remember having Mr Potato Head when I was a child - with the requirement of a real potato! (they were better than the plastic potatoes that replaced them because you could stick eyes, ears, etc absolutely _anywhere_ on the potato; not just into predetermined holes) - and, yes, I grew up with Captain Kangaroo...and Engineer Bill.

    Audiophile is a term commonly used for those who are REALLY into music, not sure how you guys missed that one.

    • @MoonSafariFilms
      @MoonSafariFilms 10 років тому +10

      Audiophile refers more to the obsession with sound quality than with music itself.

    • @sjshoker
      @sjshoker 10 років тому +1

      Yeah I tend to hear audiophile used when you are talking about headphones. They tend to categorized as people who appreciate high quality/accurate sound

    • @rogermasseyisgreat
      @rogermasseyisgreat 10 років тому +1

      In the UK we often say that someone who is obsessed with sound quality is an audiophile, whereas someone who loves music is a musicophile - I realise that it is a portmanteau word, but it is in regular use.

But my 6 year old cousin, has to win, so if you choose a card that puts you way ahead, he will make you put it back and pick one that make you go backward or only a few space closer

    In the late nineties, Rhode Island had the opportunity to choose a tourism mascot. Statues of the mascot would be placed all over the state as a fun way to explore the state and "catch 'em all." The choice was between Mr. Potato Head and Pokemon. In 2000, Rhode Island chose Mr. Potato Head.
