I have learned somewhere that final configration yet has not been finalized yet for 203 but I would be pleased if India cancel this tender and give a chance to p72 of sss. Indian version AK 203 doesn't seems MODERN design. Adjustable folding butt is necessary for comfort.

First of all... There is no working model of p-72 ready till now... And buttstock and rails don't make a rifle modern. Ak-203 series and other fourth gen russian Ak are generation ahead from its clones available in market.

@Elty Hangsing really...?? Than integrate a telephonic buttstock and rails on insas... and it will a modern rifle 😒. These are secondary improvements...which make a rifle friendly to shooter.
Main upgradation of Ak-203 rifles on older Ak's are on metallurgy like cold hammer forged barrels, then there is new gas block, a hybrid mussle device which improved mussel climb common in 7.62*39 rifles. You can integrate a FAB buttstock later.

The main reason behind the indian version not being that modern is that the army removed those feature to reduce the cost of AK-203. AK family of weapones are choosen because they are the most reliable wepeaon in whole world. P72 from SSS defense is still a new rifle which'll have to go through a period of regorious testing and use to confirm it's reliability.

Well what Russia has supplied is AK 103. I won't talk about AK 203 coz that yet to come and I've not touched it till date. Now as I've fired with both Sig 716 and AK103 I can give you an honest comparison between two. First Sig 716 is heavier than AK 103. Recoil of Sig is heavier than AK 103. Sig needs to be preserved under 25 degree C :D yes you heard that right lol. and that gun became so hot during firing you can't fire more than 100 bullets using bare hands. I personally wrap my left palm and fingers with a cloth before starting range :D.. But with AK103 there is no such issue.. last day 1 person picked an AK103 by its muzzle after about 60 rounds firing.. but surprisingly his hands were safe. This issue won't allow personnel to prefer sig in India unless its high altitude and temperature is low. Sig has 7.62*51 mm bullet where AK has 7.62*39mm. Effective range sig 600mtr AK 500mtr... but common.. can you really expect to see beyond 500 mtr during a battle!!! well if you ask me I won't, unless i'm using that weapon with a magnifier. Rate of fire sig wins.. but again .. its always small burst right.. so 650 and 600 don't really matter much. Sig has another issue.. its cocking leaver.. you need to ensure its pressed forward completely before your firing else.. that will slide back and hit your eye or below the eye. one last thing.. in AK 103 its back sight and foresight is awesome.. there is no need to see through a hole.. just adjust your foresight to the back sight gap and you are good to go.. its lovely.
Coming to the conclusion.. If I've a choice to fight with I'll prefer AK103 because its light weight, user friendly, bullets are lighter than sig and don't heat up. I'll choose Sig only if I've a vintage point from where 500mtr + area can be covered and yes that too only if its has a magnifier sight.

Auto mode is only used in LMG 's . All other rifles are used in single round or burst mode of 2 to 3 bullets each - as auto mode shooting compromises on accuracy heavily. More use of Auto mode in normal rifles heats up the barrel which causes barrel failure too. So auto mode is not a good feature for soldiers as they aim for a particular target. Auto mode is just useful for terrorists only as they want to kill any civilian available too apart from security personal - so they can stray from target too. AK rifles are never known to be accurate - they are just known to be rugged & maintainence free.

I have no clue why people are comparing these 2 platforms, its absolute insanity.
These are 2 different weapon platforms meant for 2 entirely different combat roles. the fact that ppl think AK203 vs SIG716 is a fair comparison shows how little people know about guns and their combat uses.
The AK 203 is an "assault rifle" chambered in an "intermediate cartridge" of 7.62×39 meant as a standard infantry rifle. It has the advantages of AK platform muscle memory/training, muzzle device for recoil compensation, natively produced calibre, folding stock capability and as a developmental feature- Picatinny Rails for grips and optics mount.
The SIG 716 is a "battle rifle" chambered in a "full power cartridge" of 7.62×51 NATO can/should be used as a designated marksman rifle (DMR). It has the advantages of the AR platform in the configuration of a battle rifle. 7.62×51 NATO "full power" for greater penetration at long range, complete Picatinny rail system to mount telescopic sights/ LPVOs for long range usage, 20rd mag to reduce weight for a "DMR" and lack for need to have a 30rd mag of 7.62NATO.
To put it into perspective a logical comparison would be:
The AK203 vs the AR15/ M4 (5.56×54NATO) series or IWI Galil series of rifles.
The SIG716 vs the AK308 or FN SCAR-17S
"Battle rifles" being used in their stock config became obsolete a lifetime ago (in part due to the introduction of the Intermediate cartridges). Nowadays its best used as a DMR with scopes/LPVOs to take advantage of the full power cartridge at a longer range.
THESE 2 ARE NOT IN COMPETITION. THEY DO NOT HAVE INTERCHANGEABLE ROLES. 2 DIFFERENT COMBAT ROLES REQUIRE 2 DEFERENT PLATFORMS.

Sig has very high recoil so it's not actually an assault rifle it's more a marksman rifle, India currently lacks a true assault rifle and as far for OFB it's the shitiest crap. The dream of India making world class rifles will only come true with the intervention of private firms into the game and as far for SSS defence ig it was not chosen as it's not a battle proven rifle also it's unknown if the SSS defence could actually meet the deadline but anyways it's a good step indeed.

Recently a new video posted by Economic Times on there you tube channel regarding AK-203. There youn can clearly see the russian instructor mentioning that the original Indian version will be slightly different than what they are displaying.
One more thing to notice which no one is talking about in indian defence fourm is that the Pakistan Ordinance Factory will be manufacturing PK-21 which is a licensed varient for Russian AK-103.

An old version of an ak 203 is still better than Sig Sauer. You have to understand why India scrapped INSAS. AK is almost zero maintenance weapon it's like buying a Ford for cheap but then you find you do not have get spares anywhere when your car breaks down. 100 crore was the dearness assessed by our CAG over life of our million soldiers however same institute is silent over mega project of bullet train. It doesn't find that project or in fact statue of unity a least bit waste of public money but arming our soldiers at the border with somewhat advanced weapons is oh TOO COSTLY.
