Why Was This Roof Insurance Claim Denied... Then APPROVED?

- At first, the claim for hail damage on this roof was denied by the insurance adjuster. Then, a couple of weeks later, the same insurance company approved the claim for a full roof replacement. Why did the same insurance company first deny this claim for hail damage and then approve it?

This is why I always encourage my customers to have the roofer and the adjuster look at the roof together. Two sets of eyes are better than one. Another thing is, if one misses something then the other can point it out. Really good video. Let me know if you decided to move to NM
I have a question I hope you will answer for me...
A roofing contractor came to do an inspection and the first thing he asked for was a copy of my homeowners declaration page. Why would he want to see that immediately? I asked him but I don't remember his answer. It wasn't very clear... How is that useful for them? Thank you for your reply... 🤗
We missed the one year window to put in the first claim due to a storm a couple years ago. There was a tornado about 4 months ago and the first amount of damage is still there so our insurance won’t help us with this year’s tornado damage
This is how State Farm and Allstate work in our area. They hire goohers to go out and deny roofs because these UNLICENCED field adjusters get paid per appointments. These 2 companies hope to limit the number of homeowners who either have knowledgeable contractors present at the inspection or request reinspections. As roofers we must be consistent with our assrssments and its really unfair that these huge insurance companies take advantage of their captive audience. I recommend to homeowners tgat they stay away from the insurance conpanies who advertise on TV. Most of my job literally is educating customers on insurance because most people have no clue how it works until they have to file a claim or get a letter from their carrier stating they have to replace their roof or they will lose their insurance. Thank you Honestead Roofing for your instructional videos. Youre a pro!
I've been hearing this kind of stuff alot recently. Very interesting. Thank you very much for this useful information. ⭐️⭐️
Great content brother!
Deal with this everyday. That’s why it’s important to have a good contractor to help the homeowner with the claim.
Would love to hear your take on findings of “mechanical damage” after a hailstorm.
Could you elaborate on your question?
UPC did this after Hurricane Ian, and then they ran out of money and went insolvent due to under-estimating their losses from Ian.
...was that an allstate by a chance? I am going through that scenario right now! They use contractors. I was denied the first time too. Waiting for the result of the second inspection...
It wasn't Allstate.
I'm curious what would happen if the 2nd adjuster denied the claim as well? Is there higher up we can go?
Yes, you can involve an insurance appraiser or a public adjuster.
Lemme guess… State Farm or Allstate?
Both very good guesses, but it's neither!
Similar situation but after they denied my claim and my contractor requested a re inspection the insurance refused to grant a re inspection. So we did just a patch job. Now a month later I have another leak but also switched insurance companies. Can I open another claim with my old insurance company again?
Ugh! What a rotten situation they put you in. You should talk to a public adjuster, appraiser, or an attorney.
OA here, the more we write up for the more we get paid so we’re going to want to write up for as much as possible. However though sometimes we can write up for a roof replacement or for a lot more , but if the person reviewing the estimate denies payment and makes me remove stuff from the estimate then I cannot pay for it as much as I want to. And have to have the homeowner file for a supplemental. I know that it seems like the OA is the bad guy since we’re the ones showing our face and it seems like we have all of this authority. But it’s really the people that are sitting on a desk calling the shots acting as if that money is coming directly from their paychecks
I get it. I know that it's typically the desk adjuster that makes things challenging for everyone.
I'm just starting the video, but my guess is it's Allstate. Lol
You're not the first person to guess that... but it wasn't Allstate.
USAA?
You guys are speculating and that’s not fair. How fair would it be for me to say that contractors want to total roofs just to make more money??!
Explain what you mean by "You guys are speculating."
What are we "speculating" about?
Another brain washed insurance desk adjuster who is for the company and not the people
He said the 2nd adjuster, who mentioned how the 1st adjusted half assed his job, actually worked for the same insurance company as the 1st adjusted. HE probably was telling the truth.
