- Changed the body mount bushings with the Energy Suspension bushing kit #3.4144G.
This was 30yrs overdue.
Video not meant to be a tutorial, but used to document what I've done to my car
I have to do this to my 1979 Nova.
Appreciate your time and opinion on the replacement process. I got a 81 trans that sat a long time so I have to replace the suspension again after 20 yrs.
Great video. I'm doing my 1975 Camaro with Polygraphite bushings. Excelllent job!
Good video. My 71 is feeling a bit wobbly / rickety when I drive it. I’m wondering if it’s the bushings.
Good job!! That job is almost as fun as changing a heater core but not quite lol!! When I did my body mounts I had the one under the passenger seat break off!! Had to cut a hole In the floor and weld a nut on the bolt to get it out. Did you use oer rubber mounts or polyurethane bushings? I went with polyurethane myself.
So what do you think of the polyurethane bushings so far if you don't mind me asking? I'm about to replace mine and was told they are the best bushings to go with.
@@marlonisaac1 yes go with the polyurethane. I think there the way to go. I got mine in black instead of the red. There the same bushing just different color.
@@cozythunder1 Awesome thanks for the feedback!
I never knew about this im learning as i go i have a 79 z28 thanks for the video next thing to do to my camaro 👍🙏
It was easier than I thought it would be. As long as the cap nuts don't spin you'll be fine
@@c_firebirdgo8639 for sure thats something im going to do soon hd this car for 8 yrs i think its time to get it back on the road
My passenger door mirror plate came off. I guess I need to pull the window to weld the plate back on to mount the side mirror.
Very cool. I'm doing mine next week. Did you feel it help with wobbling a bit. Like moving too much left and right at highway speeds?
That sounds like more of an alignment issue. Bushings help more with vibrations. I was having a problem with my front tires wearing more on the outside and I replaced the center link and the rag joint, had it aligned and that solved that issue
@@c_firebirdgo8639 I had it aligned, changed all steering components including the rag joint. Still just not right. Really trying to track down what the issue is with it.
I'll change the body bushings this weekend since I was planning on changing them anyway. Was just hoping it would help my issue.
Would you know the size of the socket you used to take out the bolt?
Did the new body bushings raise the front suspension up?
No because it doesn't have anything to do with the suspension. But I did have a problem with the fenders being misaligned
@@c_firebirdgo8639 I worded my question wrong. Did Installing those body bushings raise the body up any? I swapped out all new suspension on my 81 camaro, and one side is lower than the other.
Thanks for the video but you didn't show how you changed the bushings . Maybe consider showing the work instead of test drive ?
Why so much rust on the under carriage of your car, where you live they must use a lot of salt when it snows. Here in Colorado they don't use salt on roads and rust like that you never see even on 80 year old cars and trucks .
I didn't find the build sheet so it's hard telling where it's been. The car is pretty much a bondo shell of a firebird lol but it keeps going.
@@c_firebirdgo8639 to be honest your Firebird looks very clean that's one of my favorite years for the Trans Am Firebirds and their value is going up everyday keep working on it and it will be admired by many 👍 !
If you are going to post videos, you need a better cell phone. And you need to avoid waving it around. Watching this made me seasick.
