Fix ‘HE’ error code on Samsung heatpump tumble dryer

Press and hold ‘time’ & Anticrease’ while starting the machine and then spin the wash selected back round a few times.

Had the same error last night. Samsung say to clean filters and reset but their reset procedure is "unplug it for 5 mins". Checked out lots of forums, even one for appliance engineers and they all said "New compressor and new PCB, not worth repairing". After stripping the machine down, cleaning everything, testing sensors etc. and try all sort of things to get it going I got to the point where I thought I would have the cleanest scrap tumble dryer in England, then I came across this video...... 10 seconds later I'm back in business! :) Thank you so much for sharing!

So pleased it helped. I paid our local Samsung engineers £70 to come fix it and they were done in literally 2 minutes! So then when it happened a second time I decided I’d watch so next time I could do it myself and upload it to help other people out, glad I’ve achieved the aim. Thanks for your comment!

HE, HE1, HE2, HR, HC codes are all related to heater error. These codes occur when the temperature inside the washing machine is detected to be abnormal in status and value. The errors can indicate issues like no heating of water or the water is heating up at a very high temperature.

Just worked on a five button model; thank you! I had to clean the heat exchange filter and the BACK of the compartment where it slots in! Will make sure I do this regular basis 🙏🏾

I’m so pleased! They charged me £70 twice just to do this, so I made sure I watched second time.
From the number of views I thought hey maybe I’ve saved people 3.5 million quid collectively here!! but a whole new dryer cost, Hopefully I’ve saved people even more- we pay enough for these machines upfront!

Yes, after you’ve cleared the filters per Samsungs instructions this will reset it.

The engineer when he did this the first time told me the sensor had tripped basically? But I don’t know, I don’t know anything about tumble driers! Sorry.
If it helps I’ve been using mine for over two years since it first did this and nothing has happened apart from having to reset it again a couple of times….

This is just what the Samsung technician did when I called him to repair it the first time. I regularly clean out the filters anyway- I think it’s just when the heat exchange overheats. It shuts out to cool and then it can be reset this way, but I’m not sure. Just copying the technician…
