I struggled for a long time trying to play an inexpensive guitar due to arthritis in my hands. Even after modifications, it was still difficult. After reading reviews and watching videos, I took a chance with a Zager guitar. When I received my ZAD50CEOM, all I could say was WOW! It's beautiful, has rich sound, and is louder than my old guitar. I can play it for much longer without pain. I wouldn't trade it for any other. Thanks, Mr. Zager, Dennis Jr., and the whole Zager team for making my dream of playing guitar a reality.
Thanks Eric. I had already ordered my Zager and was starting to worry when I saw all the negative crap online about them. Relax, guys! I just got my 900 series and it is everything they promised and I had hoped for. It's beautiful and thoughtfully designed, it has tone to the bone, and the setup is phenomenal. Before the Zager, I have never owned a guitar that plays chords as accurately at the 12th fret as at the nut. The first thing I found in the box was an instruction sheet explaining how to adjust the string height. Zager sends guitars out with 3/32 of string height (I think mine may have been more). I cranked the neck down (easy adjustment with the included allen wrench) until the strings buzzed, then backed off. It plays easier than my Ovation, which I bought for its easy playability, but the Zagar sounds light years better, with and without the great Fishman Aura electronics. No, I'm not some hack who got paid for this review, just a weekend musician getting long in the tooth who needs (and can afford) a great sounding and playing instrument. I haven't gigged with it yet, but so far I'm totally happy with Zagar. This is a family operation and they clearly take great pride in their product. My only complaint is the marketing, they need to get that fixed. They offered some deals and then reneged on them.
Awesome! My 900 is great! That is why I use it so much in tutorials. Most of the people posting negative reviews never actually played one. I remember looking at these guitars quite a few years ago. I was afraid to buy one because I thought they were designed and set up just for beginning guitar players. I looked for, and bought a couple of used 1970's era Alvarez Yairi guitars instead. They were monster guitars, at an affordable price. Not so much anymore, though. The market has awakened to their value. If I needed another guitar though, I think I have 10.., I would surely consider the Zager. They aren't cheap, but still a great value.

Eric, I purchased two Zager guitars 3 years ago. Here’s my take on Zager and if you’re a true player, read this. Both my guitars arrived on time. I bought two at different times because I was not satisfied with the first one. First off, both my guitars were top heavy to me personally. I called and Denny’s son said because of the heavy truss rod and heavier tuning machines by Grover, the guitar may seem top heavy. I also felt both guitars sounded very percussive with little mid and bass resonance. For those reasons I returned both guitars. I understand how and why they build the guitars the way they do, but they don’t meet my expectations. I feel for what you get, they ARE worth the money if that kind of guitar meet’s your criteria. Their customer service is great and they are very accommodating. Just my experience and opinion.

One of the standout features highlighted by EricBlackmonGuitar is the playability of the ZAD900E. The guitar's action is remarkably smooth, allowing for effortless fretting and smooth transitions between notes. This feature is crucial for both beginners who are learning the ropes and experienced players seeking an instrument that responds to their every touch. The ZAD900E's playability undoubtedly enhances the overall playing experience, making it a joy to explore different techniques and musical expressions.

I have one and agree on all points Eric, what I can say is that their customer service is the best I’ve ever dealt with. They back up their promises and then some. I just bought a black ce900 from them. I use an alternate tuning often, so I can keep one tuned that way. The black model has a wider body shape, and the neck is thicker than the other but it plays so beautifully and both necks feel like they were made for me. For recording you can shape your sound with the fishman aura. Hand made in the US These instruments just get better with time.
@phyleneamuso2153 with all due respect, these guitars are not handmade in the United States. The body and glued neck are manufactured in Indonesia. If the Zagers had not leaned so heavily on marketing the guitars as MADE IN THE USA it would not be tat big a deal. However, it's untrue that they are made in Nebraska. There is no Zager guitar factory in Nebraska. Dun and Bradstreet lists less than half a dozen employees on the payroll of Zager guitars. The guitar tops ARE solid wood. The back and sides, however, are not. This by the way, is an explanation as to why the mentioned guitar seemed TOP HEAVY. Solid wood guitars are heavy. If you take the end pin out of the guitar and look at the raw wood, it will be very evident that you are not looking at a solid body guitar. I have asked Dennis Junior about this. He is quite the wordsmith. Never, ever would he confirm that the guitars are made with solid mahogany (or Rosewood) back and sides. The guitars have a decent setup... it's an overpriced instrument. It sound fine. But, folks... you've been deceived. It's an Indonesian made guitar.

hello. as stated hearing it online with great sound system it is totally different than holding and playing it . i have been playing guitar since the age of about 10 years old i am 66 years old now . thanks
You are absolutely right. Nothing is like playing it and holding it. But in an internet world, many times you just can't do that. BTW I don't use a sound system for my videos. I film and record straght to the camera. You hear only the sound of the guitar(sometimes along with music from my PC. Thanks for watching.
The onboard electronics of the ZAD900E also deserve commendation. The integrated pickup system delivers a natural and true-to-tone representation when amplified, ensuring that the guitar sounds just as exceptional on stage as it does in a quiet room. This versatility makes the ZAD900E a reliable choice for live performances, recording sessions, and practice sessions alike.

I've had my Zager for around 6-7 years. It's all Zager says. It's almost as easy to play as an electric. I like the sound, and it's fancy looking. It's got lots of projection. I have 10 and more guitars. This is one of the real good ones. Friends that have Collings and Martins and Santa Cruz ask to play this guitar when they come around rather than their own. I like this one better than my old Martin or my Hummingbird. Playability AND sound. (Maybe it's just me and the way I hear things, because the others cost a lot more, so should be better.)
Glad that you are happy with yours as I am with mine. Most people who don't like Zagers have never played are owned one. I can tell by their comments. Thanks so much for watching! Please save this link to my channel to check for new videos! ua-cam.com/users/EricBlackmonGuitarvideos
I've been toying with the idea of adding a Zagger to my guitars. I just can't find any solid statement that they are made in the USA. I hear a lot of folks say they are actually made in China and then shipped here, where they add some finishing touches. For a guy that was part of a "one hit wonder" for a song his partner actually wrote, I think these guitars are way over priced.
Thanks for your opinion! I love this one, but I did not buy it so I can't give an opinion on their pricing. However many have purchased them and are very satisfied. Thanks so much for watching! Please save this link to my channel to check for new videos! ua-cam.com/users/EricBlackmonGuitarvideos

@@EricBlackmonGuitar I really get better understanding of playing techniques and other lessons from your videos. I am over 60 and have to learn things over again, life happened. But now I am where time is mine to manage. Thank you for your channel. Stay well and safe.
That's the model I was just looking at on their website! It's attractive but that's a lot of money for something you can't hear and play until it arrives in the mail. I was thinking that dark dense wood sides and back might flavor the tone darker than I like. Even a Gibson Hummingbird has a darker tone than I like. A back to back tone comparison with another popular acoustic guitar would be helpful. I didn't realize you could load profile mixes into the electronics, that sounds worthy of an entire video on it's own. I'm in Iowa and may have to swing by their home base the next time I'm close by to hear one in person.

Great review. Wish you could have played some mellow sounding bar chords. And some normal warm sounding chords. The chords you played were kind of harsh brittle changy clangy sounding.
Just received my ZAD 80 yesterday and I'm on the fence about keeping it - primarily due to what appears to be shady business practice. No one can confirm where the parts are manufactured, and from what I can gather online, it seems to be somewhat of an Orangewood business model but without the transparency of Orangewoods marketing. I do like the guitar, but I've been in marketing for a Made in USA company for 23 years and it's something that matters to me. The fact that the Denny Zager "signature" is screen printed on the body, and the "hand written" thank you from Denny Zager is a photocopy all leads to the overall feeling of deception. In addition, my guitar was a Sale model that had apparently been played by Denny Zager in videos but it shipped from Las Vegas? That makes no sense and again, my assumption that what I have is a customer return. I may start the return process today.
Sorry to hear you are having problems. I can say that the signature on mine is real. I suggest you get on the phone with them and talk to someone to get some satisfaction. The thing that matters most is that you like the guitar. Good Luck!
I’m exactly the same . Absolutely wanted a made in USA and not just assembled or transformed. Zager seems to control so well their image so impossible to get a true awswer . Google “ Zager factory video “… nothing but links controlled by Zager. I’m sure their guitars are actually good ( I have played some enjoyable Asian guitars) but the overall shadiness made me not take the risk .. I bought a made in USA Martin a few weeks ago.
I think it was in one of their FAQ answers on the Zager website where it was explained that they added an additional Zager shop in the Las Vegas Nevada area. Reasons given included (A) increased demand for their guitars in the West, (B) Denny SR likes the warmer weather there during Winter [compared to Nebraska where it can get down to 20 degrees below zero], and (C) by basing sales in Las Vegas they don't have to charge any sales tax. As a customer, I definitely like (C).
i have been playing guitar for about 56 years . just recently heard of this brand . cant afford one so been trying to win one more or less to see how the sound is. i have owned gibson martin fender . just cant find the sound i want. yes heard the sound on the net . but it will vary . they say it is easy play . but guess i will never know. everyone play well thanks

Pretty easy to be honest when after 4 months of playing it(I play it all the time), I have not been able to find a single problem. I own around 25 acoustic guitars(all major brands paid for with my own money) that have been set up to my liking by a professional guitar tech. This guitar outperformed them all right out of the box. Honest. That is why it is seen so much in my acoustic tutorials. Thanks for watching. EricBlackmonGuitar! 3500+ Tutorials!
Thanks, Mr. Blackman.
You bet! Thanks so much for watching!

hello. as stated hearing it online with great sound system it is totally different than holding and playing it . i have been playing guitar since the age of about 10 years old i am 66 years old now .

The Fishman electronics are the real deal!

I noticed they have a crazy good sale with about 5 hrs left. I've played a couple. They were excellent guitars. I play pretty high end stuff
Awesome! I have tons of guitars and worked in a guitar store for 8 years where I played ever guitar that came in the door. My Zagers stand up to the best of them! Thanks so much for watching! Please save this link to my channel to check for new videos! ua-cam.com/users/EricBlackmonGuitarvideos

Mr. ERIC did you not do this review about a year ago?
Yes! It is a revision of the original, which has been taken down. Thanks for watching!
Good plan! Thanks so much for watching!

Sounds like you want a maple body guitar with a sitka top.
@@zaphod-x If that were true I wouldn't own an Ovation. I've also been looking at Emerald guitars in carbon.
HAD ONE,, sold it soon after as other were better for less
Ok. Sorry that you were not happy with yours. I have over 100 guitars, and this one is among the best! Won't be selling mine. Thanks for watching!
Great review. Wish you could have played some mellow sounding bar chords. And some normal warm sounding chords. The chords you played were kind of harsh brittle changy clangy sounding.

I have a Zager. It has a sound similar to a Martin or a Gibson. My favorite guitars in the world are Brazilian rosewood
Did you return the guitar and talk to Zager?
i have been playing guitar for about 56 years . just recently heard of this brand . cant afford one so been trying to win one more or less to see how the sound is. i have owned gibson martin fender . just cant find the sound i want. yes heard the sound on the net . but it will vary . they say it is easy play . but guess i will never know. everyone play well thanks

I appreciate the information…but since Zager actually sent you the guitar (assumably for free)…how can it truly be 100% honest and unbiased?!?
Pretty easy to be honest when after 4 months of playing it(I play it all the time), I have not been able to find a single problem. I own around 25 acoustic guitars(all major brands paid for with my own money) that have been set up to my liking by a professional guitar tech. This guitar outperformed them all right out of the box. Honest. That is why it is seen so much in my acoustic tutorials. Thanks for watching. EricBlackmonGuitar! 3500+ Tutorials!
