Good Morning/Afternoon Everyone. Thank you for the video, very well done and much appreciative. I actually just spoke with my buddy who is a BMW Mechanic and told me some valuable things about the F25’s and the N20 engine. It’s a very reliable engine (as long as you take care of it properly and use the BMW Factory Oil Filters), when they perform an Oil & Oil Filter Change, they fill with just 5 Quarts and lastly, the main weak point on this engine is the Waste-gate. As long as you get on the car often, let it breathe it won’t get all gunked up and fail.
@@johnmakune7426letting it breathe essentially is referring to opening up everything in the motor (intake, exhaust, full spool on the turbo, waste gate full open/close as it shifts, etc). This just allows the motor to operate at max allowing everything to flow freely and “breathe”. Not sure if this explanation helps but that’s my understanding and explanation haha…
The engine oil capacity for the 2014 BMW X3 3.0L engine is 6.9 US Quarts (6.5 liters). The engine oil capacity for the 2014 BMW X3 2.0L engine is 5.1 US Quarts (4.8 liters).
Your kit may give you 7 liters because you will burns some oil between oil changes and have some to add. Nice that they did that. Changed oil on 2017 X3 xdrive28i with N20 engine (thanks for letting us know to look for the sticker under the hood). I put in 4.75 quarts and it measured full on screen. Didn’t see a good location under the car for a floor jack so didn’t jack up (very tight in getting under the car next time may drive front wheels up on some 2x4 wood for some extra room but still leaving the car flat to get all the oil out). Also when taking out the oil filter there is still some oil in the housing so we used a syringe to get all the oil out and some clean paper towels to soak up the rest. We did put about a quart of oil in the oil filter housing (takes a second for it to drain down). To do the test to check engine level the car must be hot. Checked it on the next drive out. Great video, thanks for all the info.
2015 X3 XDrive 28i. My Build Sheet which gives Filling Quantities says Engine N20B20 is 4.8 Litres. Car has been Serviced at BMW and Independent Specialist. Both Expensive and I don't know how much they put in. For my 1st. Oil Change, How Much Do I Put In? My Drip Tray has Measurements, I will be Checking What Comes Out. Perhaps without a Dip Stick, Me and It's Computer can come to a decision.
Thanks for the video, the camera focus has problem, looking at your face when you were talking, i feel so dizzy. does anyone else have the same feeling?
I just did an oil change on 2.0 L 2013 BMW x3, do not know any other identifications for the engine. I simply put back same amount of oil that came out - just a little over 4 L. Sensor said oil level was not low.
Hello: Hey Matt, liked the video and want more. What is the oil I would use for a 2012 BMW X3 i28? Second, never use old oil to lubricate the O rings. Use the new oil. What is the best synthetic oil for my BMW X3. Thanks Roman
According to my opinion, it's not very good if you don't know if you have a diesel or gasoline engine in your car... 🥺 I would say, you should let a shop do the maintenance and repairs on your car...
Actually timing chain guides but it was rated top 10 engines the n20 ours has 140k miles on it and runs fine...but of course always get the warranty baby

Great insights, thanks. May I ask, by 'let it breathe', what exactly are you referring to? Thanks

I called my local BMW dealer. I have the same engine as you. They said 5.5 litres. When I visit my dealer to get the filter, I will double check.
2.0L BMW diesel engine needs 5.5 liters.
2.0L BMW gasoline engine needs 4.8 liters.
Yes ours told me 5.5qts 2014 x3 28i so 2L
5ltr for sdrive, 5.5ltrs for xdrive.
👏🏽👏🏽props for remaking video!!
3:00-3:30 editing was best part of the entire video!!!THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!. 🙏🏽
Thanks for the video!! The lift is sweet!
Well done video presentation, very detailed information. Thank You.
Oh that’s cool you live in Wisconsin. I used to live in the Green Bay Area
thank you for video ,I have same problem with oil capacity, going to sale my 2015 x3 soon as passable , no dipstick nothing
FCP euro kit comes with only a 5 liter liqui moly or pentosin oil container
Just petty but, i noticed you replaced the little oil plug cover properly from when you took it off which was improper... LOL
nice video, how this oil you used is performed, is it good or bad oil for your engine?
Called BMW.. 5.5qts for our 2014 X3 28i 2.0L engine 5w30 synthetic
I also put 6 liters a few days back

What happens if you add more oil than required? Does that damage the engine? Should we remove the added oil?

Engine oil change or transmission fluid change?

86.4 mm socket wrench for the oil filter..

11:25 Dude! WHY woulud you use the FILTHIEST place you could find OLD oil to prep the gaskets?!? Use the BRAND NEW oil you're about to pour!
C'mon. No more mistakes in the title except for still over filling it.
And you overfilled it
Germans hate dipsticks...WW2 best tanks in the war did they have dipsticks ?? 😉
4.8litre only needed
4.8 liter enough
You do not have a F25. You have the worst engine ever build by BMW, the N20. Your timing chain will shot your engine soon
Actually timing chain guides but it was rated top 10 engines the n20 ours has 140k miles on it and runs fine...but of course always get the warranty baby
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_X3, N47 is a diesel engine.
