This is my fave tie knot. Dude! You tied it EXACTLY how I prefer it. Some people's instructions finish it with the bottom knot wide. You emphasize the "stretching" the top neck loop right before you complete the knot. That's VERY important step to get the triangular shape. Great vid!

I just... I can't believe this, I just tied my first tie. This is
    HISTORICAL!
    REVOLUTIONARY!
    A memory... to remember...
    A thought... unforgotten...
A finger... caught in a loop...

Thank you very much. Clearly explained, though the actual face-to-face explanation felt easier to follow than the diagrammatic one, and a marvellous knot. I much prefer this to the Windsor Knot. Many thanks once again!

I tried the full windsor knot style for about 30 minutes and kept coming up with a short tie. I moved to the pratt knot and my tie was perfect plus the knot was much easier than the full windsor. I really like the pratt knot the best out of all the knots. This is from a person that wears a tie 2-3x a year max. :)

Wow, this is a weird knot but when it works it looks great.
It's confusing because when you put the tie through at the end it seems like it didn't work correctly, but you just need to expand it to a triangle, incredible.

I think this is the best knot. You get the dimple, it's symmetrical, and uses less material so it's not too big.

This knot is GREAT for fat, wider ties where the Full Windsor would produce a big, bulky knot. It also makes a much more symmetrical knot than the Half-Windsor. The only downside is that it seems to be a somewhat looser knot than either the Half- or Full Windsor, and may be more prone to slipping loose, depending on what material your tie is made of, especially if you're in a more active setting such as a high-school dance or wedding reception.

I agree, some knots might not suit a person because of their physical stature.
Also, certain tie knots will look better, in my opinion, with certain shirt collars.
For example, a full windsor with a spread collar would be my choice, but with a narrow collar I would want a more narrow tie knot, which is why I am actually taking a look at this video. Lol.

Surely that depends on the size of your tie and the size of your frame. I for one would look ridiculous with a full Windsor on anything but a very slim tie as I'm not that big, therefore I tend to go with the Pratt as it suits my frame better.
