Joyce James was Ernie Sheldon's partner. He wrote this song and was a brilliant guitarist. Their album, Sheldon and James, was pretty wonderful. Joyce was a neighbor and close family friend when I was a boy. Joyce and Ernie playing around our campfire on my family's camping trips in Angeles Crest are some of the sweetest musical memories of my life.
Mr Diebler known as Sean taught us this song as kids in music class. Diebler was a genius - tremendously talented and very idealistic. Thank u Sean - a giver in life Rest in Peace. Thank u for the joy and your conscience. Caleb
Five women who had amazing individual talents and combined them for heavenly harmonies ! I have been in love with their music since the early 60s when I first heard them on the radio in my home town. Hard to believe it's been over 50 years since I first heard this song and bought their vinyl album. I played that album 'til it got scratchy and then dubbed all the songs to cassette tape, then ripped those songs to CDs, then ripped them over to my IPOD and still play them from time to time. I feel like I and they are still young and it's 1966 all over again !
Wow, wow, wow! I first heard this when a friend suggested it for me to sing at our open mic. You're absolutely right about their voices. I didn't know they had an album.Great to know.
Oh so beautiful. Heard this long ago, a guitar and a sweet voice singing. Never knew it wasn't their original song. in those folk song days, everybody played and sang their own creations. Oh glory, to hear it now!
I loved this album as a child and made me the guitar playing songwriter I am today! These were some of the best songs that would run through my head I love they are here now.THANK YOU!
Beautiful! Thanks for posting. Never heard this version before, I was looking for The Villagers version, I'll keep looking but so glad you posted this one.
@@eddiehazard3340 no. No I didn’t agree at all. I was trying to clarify. You think that female performers should only stand still in long dresses? I absolutely do not agree. I think they should do whatever they want to do. Whether that’s stand still in long dresses or shake their asses in nothing but pasties. Because that’s not for me to decide. And it shouldn’t be seen as “sinking” to anything. That’s entirely their decision. And nothing was deleted. You responded to MY comment with a random thing about hating when female performers “sink” to “sexing it up.” I wholeheartedly do not agree. I just didn’t understand why you said such, what you were talking about, and wanted to make sure I did before I refuted you.
I sent roses to a girl named Barbara at her home and her work for three years. even when I was 14,000 miles away. 1971-1973
❤❤❤❤
Boy, were they good. First time I've seen a video of this group. I'd always been curious about them.

Listening to the Womenfolk, reading P.G. Wodehouse stories, drinking tea. Good on a rainy November afternoon.

Actually, it was in the late sixties and early seventies that the singer-songwriter became a big thing. This was a little early yet.
Wonderful !! How I wish they'd sing together again. These were special talents.

My middle name is Rose and I was born in winter so my Momma would always sing this to me :3

Love them! I listened to them all the time and it's great to see them reunited and playing again. they're such an american treasure,
So beautiful. Wish there were a better quality film of them....
Beautiful. Between the song itself, the guitar work and the wonderful performance, this is just wonderful
Yea you’re a shithole to post the same false complaint. They’re talented and not doing what you said. You are low.
My friend from many many years ago, Lee English would sing this so well...
I love these women. Jose Feliciano was their opening act when I saw them in Orange County 45 years ago.
We sang a variation of this in AOII for preference night. I can't find the AOII version, but this one is just beautiful.
@@eddiehazard3340 I’m lost. You think they’re trying to be sexy? Or you think all musical groups should only stand still in long dresses?
