Great video, firstly it's quite old now so maybe the motor issues are long gone with upgraded tech now available but as you state that's a lot of money to pay out but its also being used fully so I would expect some maintenence /replacement parts, I'm currently deciding whether to go for a 16mm Pro belt version trampa or a acedeck z3

Good video however I hate to be that guy but I don’t think you’re gonna be able to ride any board through mud puddles like that and not expect problems.

It’s a trampa it costs £2600 I think I should , but that may just be me.

We’ve rode these boards in near enough a thunder storm in wales and had no problems after with the board itself, make sure you cover either the whole battery box or at the very least the loop keys with a shower cap if your out riding wet conditions.
the wand is a tricky one, if you glue your screen protector on what will you do if you get a crack in it and can’t get it off?
Unfortunately it’s near enough impossible to make a wand completely waterproof.

Thanks sonnie yes I do need to get a battery box cover sorted, for the wand clear bathroom mastic would seal and come off all right when needed but then there is still the 2 buttons and the control wheel thing

I took the glass piece and epoxied it on the outside, i still havent found a way of sealing the buttons. The noise has something to do with the hallsensors not being waterproof, i switched to hfi and it went away, there is a bit of a setup for it though, i aggree, super quick shipping from trampa, you could install external sensors for the motors to get rid of the noise, ive had the exact same issues as you describe + loose spur gear

Strange that Trampa didnt just replace the broken sensor that you paid for!!, i have un-sensored motors but wont run with HFI (atm) because its hit and miss from what ive read, i have read good (works perfect) and bad (dead vescs) personally i think sensors are a weak point on any build and kinda have the same opinion on HFI at the mo.. The start up on HFI in your video looks a lot less smooth than with sensors and kinda looks like its cogging but without the loud sounds of cogging if that makes sense!
How does the difference feel between sensor and HFI if the loud pitch noise wasn't there would you notice a difference??

Surely 6months of hammering over rough terrain and bogs like that will take its toll 😁

Search for PPE shoe covers; I use them in wet conditions for the Evolve remote. More for the spray off the wheels though.

  • @Omnitrio1

Yeah tbf riding in those really wet muddy conditions are just no good for a board. I know it's a beast made for off road. But the price you pay for it I wouldn't ride if it was that boggy. I'm so close to buying one of these. So would you say the customer support was very good? I am in uk is well so nice to know I can get repairs done here.

I got a trampa to do that sort of riding with and plan to do more like that , trampa was great in helping me to try and fit it over Skype when it was clear it could not be fixed from my home Dave from trampa sent a free post from home collection so they could so it from trampa HQ then post it back the me in the same week , it would have been nice if they have of replaced the sensor as the board was only about 6 mouths old , but I would say it’s the service is a good 8 out of 10. What do you think?

I have had a few issues due to my negligence, lack of knowledge or bad luck.
Trampa service has been amazing each time. It’s proper old fashioned , nothing too much trouble

@@esk8monster848 it really is serious money for a board. Do they come with warranty? By how you have explained the support, sounds like a good service to me. I live in east Sussex so I'm surrounded by south downs national park do ride this bad boy.

You should cover your Monster box w/ a bag (Trampa should sell these as a branded accessory) & always carry a spare remote. Boards are heavy & awkward to carry or drag.

  • @FAB1150
    @FAB1150 4 роки тому +1

Maybe a solution would be using a 20+KHz frequency, to make it unbearable. It would require a higher speed ESC though

might pay to have a second wand incase one fails. i always carry a spare remote wen im out riding my board. Or even jst put a plastic cover over it while your riding in the wet so keeps it waterproof

  • @nedtrampz85

Interesting to see the sensor issues. Mine has never run sensors right from the beginning. Had it for nearly 2 years now. Couldnt get a solid reading & havent bothered trying since.. did about 4 tries n gave up. Different firmwares ect..
I will note that i did get a sensor reading plugged straight from esc to motor. However it was only 1 of the escs that read the motors so i think that vesc was to blame. Plus i needed to run thru extensions anyway.
On a lighter note ive run it for this whole time with no issues at all really! Ofcoarse u must get the board rolling a bit before throttling or the motors shake out.. but its not an issue for me.
P.S. RUNNING SENSORLESS MOTORS IS BETTER IMO. As seen in the video you do have the risk of hall sensor failure so if you can tolerate sensorless then hey..
If the sound of the HFI is too much for you try sensorless man. Although it seems like youre all about that smooth takeoff.
    Goodluck mate 🤞✌

Ned I love your films by the way, thanks for the info about the motors, the board runs ok it’s just as it only just 7 moths old now it should this be working as new , not having sensors problems

@@esk8monster848 yeah dont worry i do totally agree. I paid $3600 au for all my kit delivered which broke my bank. Then to find it wasnt gonna run halls sensors..
Wasnt happy at first mate just couldnt be assed sending back to uk from aus so i kept it n went with it hoping 1 day id be able to do sensors.
But i guess the point i was trying to achieve is a little peace of mind for both of us with the sensor thing.. sensorless is actually probably better way to go. If u can tolerate it..
There are guys who claim its better.. infact trampa used to sell their motors sensorless as ive been told & i guess they only really added them because people were asking. My thoughts atleast.
Good to hear from you man nice chat! Thanks for the comment on my channel appreciate it✌
Ill sub to u if i havent already.. cheers

Ned Trampz it’s great to hear the boards can run ok with out the sensors, I think it’s all about trying to keep the boards to the best maintained standard we can as we try to ride them hard and get the most we can from them .
Thanks for your input , I’m sure anyone reading this will find it interesting

My only real advice if you want to avoid problems like that is not to ride the board in the wet as that’s just asking for issues no offense, hope you’re trampa is working 100% now at least

Watching the start as i seemed to skip past it. Wand in a bag 😂😂
You could just put it in your pocket bro ha. Personally i dont like getting any equipment wet so again not an issue for me.

It’s like it wasn’t raining when I started the ride , so I would like something that would get me where I’m going , not have to get a rescue pick up from my wife as I’ve broken down 6 miles from my van

    • @nedtrampz85

@@esk8monster848 yeah thats not we want is it! Im lucky to say its never happened to me! When i had belts i had a little scare, took my whole board apart to find it was just a rock stuck in the wheel pulley teeth! Ha.
Stupid me put the board back together n road it home. Atleast it wasnt a real problem i said. Other than that my only breakdowns have been from battery dying which is my own fault.
Anyway good luck i hope it ends up being ok for u

wtf? switching to HFI instead of replacing your sensor wire? thats very cheap of trampa and is basically applying flex tape instead of fixing the problem, HFI is still new and not the same as a sensor cable you should've asked them to replace your motor or cable not ignore the problem

  • @brown5tick
    @brown5tick 4 роки тому

I don't think it's unreasonable for the uninitiated to expect a Trampa board to be up to this sort of use-case. It's an off-road board manufactured on Mud Island ffs. If there's any mention on the Trampa website of needing to take care around water, I haven't found it. In fact, the only relevant material seems to suggest that it'll be up to the task:
"This all keeps important cables out of the way, safe & dry - while improving the finished look of the board 10x."
"...giving a watertight & strong construction to the box."
And as for switching you over to HFI for the sake of a replacement f ck ng sensor, please! But hey, that's Frank.
