Sadly, the Colne Valley Railway is too far away from me. However, I've become a member of the thriving Cambrian Heritage Railway in Oswestry. I've sent in a volunteer form, and I'm awaiting an email from one of the volunteers. The group are more than willing to help me live the one dream I've been chasing, since I was 4-years-old: to become a standard gauge steam engine driver. Watch this space.
It doesn't matter where you volunteer - I think it's just great that people getting involved and supporting the whole network of preserved railways. It's better to help out throughtout the year at a local line than just pop in once a year on one you have to travel a long way to.
Quite an upheaval at both ends of the site. I'm glad to see you've got space to move into and area's for Workshops worked out. It's good that the rolling-stock being sold is going to other Railway interests. The Model Railway is looking great! Massive, if I can add. Quite a bit done and quite a bit to do. As ever, all the best with the railway at Colne. Thanks for the update and good to see you. Take care. Cheers!
Bloody land owners. I sincerely hope whoever owns that parcel of land doesn't build some hideous monstrosity right next to the station! Great video! Nice to hear what's happening over in the East
A great update and now I know why there have been no brake van, box van and tanker updates ! I hope the re-org is going to plan and good luck with that!
Many thanks for the update and your brilliant presentation of the work the Colne Valley team have done in so short amount of time! Keep up the great work because its great to look back when the goal is reached and say "we did that". I know this as a volunteer for thr Northampton & Lamport Railway on the eve of the opening the new station at Boughton this Easter - amazing what volunteers, and some contractors, can create for the enjoyment of all.
Yes we’re very proud of what we’ve achieved so far but there’s still a long road ahead before we can step back and be happy with how the site looks etc. hopefully people can see our vision when they visit this year!
Brilliant presentation and video Ollie! The CVR is only 45 minutes from me, came down last year on an HST running day. I’ll have to come back up eventually!!
Don’t worry I’m not ill! The railway winter works has been a huge team effort and in order to progress I need to put my projects to one side and get stuck in!
That explains why you had gone very quiet! I assumed you had been busy working at your full-time job. You guys at the Colne certainly had your hands full, and to only be given four weeks to clear part of the site is not nice.
The railway has been very good to me over the last couple of years, it was only fair I got stuck in too. The railway has a great bunch of volunteers and has been a real team effort
I have not seen the UA-cam clip on Lawrie's Mechanical Marvels UA-cam channel where you are selling engines and rolling stock I would love to own and save the ruston 165 and the steam engine to keep the history alive on them too if I have the money With the ruston 165 unique engine starter how long are you going to find another one of them engines again if I had somewhere to store them I will actually have them antique stomach to get them running properly One place where I would love to run the engines with a rolling stock carriage is backwards and forwards from the rock ferry station all the way around through the old dock line to Birkenhead North junction in my hometown
It will keep the history alive through the old dock branch line and all I can say I don't give a monkey's what my council and town hall says about running the old dark line once again with their silly projects in my hometown where they don't listen to the public I care about the history of life in my hometown like other people.
The raise the prices to keep your head over the water is a false economy, less value for money will deter visitors. Heritage railways while great to visit are now an expensive visit with families. Not sure raising ticket prices is going to raise your footfall. I stayed in Swanage for a Holiday and for the 1st time ever on a visit to the UK differed taking a trip as its too expensive.

Good luck Kelly I’m sure you’ll love volunteering!

Nice video you all have done really well to clear that land in 4 week keep up the good work 👍🏻👍🏻
They said we couldn’t do it. But with some long days and hard work, we cleared it! Couldn’t be more proud of the volunteers!!
@@WardleRestorations amazing bunch of volunteers well done all 👍🏻
Thanks for the update, looking forward to future videos
Thank you for watching!
wow you have all been busy. Hope it all works out well.
Fingers crossed mate 🤞

Great video! Nice to hear what's happening over in the East
It’s the previous owner of the Colne Valley Railway who sold to the current land owner that is at fault for the current land issues in my opinion.
Don’t worry it’s all flood plains so can’t do much with it! 🤣
Completely agree Paul 👍
@@WardleRestorations Ah, that's good to know

I’ll be sure to get another update out once we’ve made some more progress!
If there wasn't an entire ocean between me and there, I would have loved to be a volunteer there, or one of the other railways over there
Well if you ever come over we can find you a shovel and a paint brush! 🤣👍
Hopefully, 2024 is better for the Colne Valley. it's a shame its so far away as id love 2 visit, and see some.of the stock
thanks for the update ollie. was worried you not well or too busy on the other railway. caroline
Don’t worry I’m not ill! The railway winter works has been a huge team effort and in order to progress I need to put my projects to one side and get stuck in!

Hi it`s looking a lot better than when I visited last year your doing a good job keep it up I will check it out when I pay you a visit later on 👍
I hope you enjoy your visit! We can only apologise for the way it looks at the moment but hopefully people will see our long term goal!
Brilliant video
Thank you mate!
Nice to hear. What’s going on there...wish I had the room for a coach or cct.... any updates on blue star or the black 5
Blue star and the black 5 are owned by different groups separate from the CVR! 🙂
Great video
Thanks Owen 👍
Great update! How’s work on the WD Hunslets and Jupiter going?
I can try and include an update on them next time I do a CVR update video!

How else do you suggest railways fight against inflation and the cost of living?
