That broom & laundry basket method to rescue the cat was a bad idea… would have been so much easier & safer to just find a plank of wood, or anything about 5-6ft long and relatively flat (surfboard, ironing board, folding table, remove a lightweight closet door from the hinges, etc.) and set up a temporary bridge/ “cat walk” for the cat to cross back from the window sill to the ledge.
They should have just found a plank of wood and set up a temporary bridge/ “cat walk” for the cat to cross back on its own if it was too scared to jump. I’d probably go the extra mile & set up an inflatable air mattresses or stack sofa cushions it the stairway just incase anything went wrong.
