Also, what is the "close currency position" used for, and do we need to close it? Thank you for putting up such informative video and really appreciate it :)
Hi, it should take 1 business day before you can start trading after converting your fund. I didn't bother using the close currency position, I guess its more useful for forex traders since they might have varying currencies in their account
Hi Varga - Live account is where you deposit real money to trade. (I use this) Paper account is just a test account for you to test and play with it, no real money involved. Hope this clarifies!
Hi Ziet, I am a swing trader myself but I'm not sure whether that classifies under "active trader". Also, the main concern that I have of having delayed data (around 10-15 minutes) will impact the outcome of the trade. I'm afraid that I will miss the buying/selling opportunities if the data is delayed, and also I heard from other traders with delayed data their trades sometimes can't even go through. So do you have any additional advice that you can give out? (Eg. Whether snapshot data is just enough for swing trading or I still have to subscribe to Lv II Quotes) Thanks!😅
Hi there, I believe you can use the "Snapshot" feature to get the latest pricing before you place your swing trades, or you could even use TradingView as their data is pretty near to live share price. I am not very sure how accurate you would need when it comes to the "live" market data thou, so I would suggest you compare the snapshot versus TradingView as a start, and see if it works for you before you decide to pay for anything😄
Do you use other brokers other than IBKR? I am using IBKR and I am thinking of changing broker. Prefer a broker without PDT rules and easy to find stock to borrow for lower market cap stock.
Hi, I have another brokerage account with Maybank Global Trading but that's about it. I'm now mainly using TSG-IBKR (IBKR platform), so far I've not encountered any PDT restriction with TSG as the introducing broker, not sure if it's applicable to us as well.
Hey great video ziet! I had a problem recently with buying stocks in IB saying that “there is insufficient settled cash $x.xx USD”. Take note that I just converted from SGD to USD and im using cash account. I definitely checked that my USD cash is more than what the stated amount is. Wondering if you had experience this bfr?
Thanks for the video! May I ask what do I do when there's a pop msg before I want to place an order: You're submitting your order without market data. We strongly recommend against this as it may result in erroneous and unexpected trades. Are you sure you want to submit this order?
Nothing to worry, it is just telling you IBKR’s share price is not live because you did not subscribe to the live market data. You can easily use other sources for the live pricing
Thanks for the prompt reply! So meaning that I can just ignore the msg and confirm the order? (I believe it won't affect me since I've set a limit price, am I right? 😁)
its a good video mate! but question, if i want to do long term investment, lets say fo 5 -10 years ahead, which time in force i should choose? day, good till cancel or at the opening? cheers mate!
Hi Christiano, if you want to do long term investment, that means you just want to BUY and not do anything else. What you need here is a BUY order, either in 1. Day - only for the current trading day and will expire at the end of it 2. Good Till Cancel - the order will expire when you canceled, else always active 3. At the opening - order will only be placed at the next trading day opening I would usually use "Day", buy it, and forget about it (Hold).
@@ZietInvests wow what a fast respon! Thank you for your reply!, you know what you’re the only youtuber that reply my question. Much appreciated it!! And yess that’s really helpful, so basically just buy it, choose “day” and leave it for the next 10 years. And I will contact you for another 10 years when I am success at this field. Thanks mate! Keep up the good work! GBU🥂🙏 subscribed!!
Hi Steven, I have not subscribed to any IPO, and from what I know, the prerequisite for IPO subscription is very high (for example asset amount of USD 200k, or premium trader). I suggest for you to contact IBKR customer support to check on the details for IPO subscription (note that it is usually not so accessible for retail investors)
Hi Rini, yes you can definitely do that, just refer to other sources which has live prices (Webull desktop, investing.com, marketwatch, google finance etc.), should be good enough if you are not actively trading, else just spend the extra bucks for market data subscription. And no, the PC website version doesn't provide any live price by default
Hi Vincent, technically it is possible, and IBKR does not have clear cut rejection policies for 3rd party funding. However, there have been reports from online community that their fund are either delayed/rejected or withheld for investigation concerns, all of which are issues that made me decided not to recommend one to attempt so. That said, you can always try for yourself 😝
@@ZietInvests thanks for reply👍 Fyi previously i used IBKR white-label called Halifax and bad news is the company went liquidation, can't get back our capital. 😞
Another perfect video, thank you. I'm waiting for my application approval in Interactive broker. But do i have to fund my account now or i can do it after getting the approval? Does the pending application approval depends on funding my account now or i can do it afther the approval? Thank you.
Hi David, are you going with IBKR (direct) or TSG-IBKR? Either way, if you are not in a rush, you can wait for all documents to be approved first before you start funding it. If you want to expedite it, then funding it first will be the choice to go! 😊
So, i can fund my account later and the account approval doesn't depend on this? If i fund the account now, will the account approval process be faster? I'm going with IBRK directly, because my country is not in the list of TSG-IBRK. But while i'm waiting for the approval, the shares of the company, which i targeted, has raized 4 times in the last 2 weeks. Bad luck for me as a beginner :) But i've 2 more companies in my list, which i observe and research and i hope that my approval will come soon and i can buy some shares on good prices and hold them until they raize, hopefully. Thank you once again.
@@davidbale2094 haha dont have the feeling of fomo! Funding it will definitely expedite the approval process, so its up to you whether or not to pull the trigger

Hi Eugene, I have not tried margin trading before because my account is cash account. I believe you need to inject cash in within a certain period of time as collateral or have to pay margin interest (im not very sure, probably need to dig further)
Hi Ziet, my IBKR application is approved. I can't login to IBKR mobile app but can do it on website login page. It is because of i haven't deposit fund to my trade account?
Hi there, this is a common issue for new accounts (im not sure why, could also be due to not funded yet yes), if anything you can always ask IBKR customer support to check for you 😊
Hi Ziet! Thank you again! I have a question. Why my average price is always higher than the price I put in limit order. For example. I put a limit order in 69.50 , but when it is filled, the average price shows 70.50. How can I fix it? Thank you
Hi Maryam, the 1 USD difference could be the commission fee that you paid for the trade. Have you changed from Fixed to Tiered pricing plan? I’ve explained in this video for your reference: ua-cam.com/video/f__HgJRe3nU/v-deo.html
Hi Ziet question can i also trade forex using IBKR mobile? Im planning to open an account but i want a to make sure i can trade stock and forex on mobile first. Thank you
Yo Bernard. Under Exit Strategy > Order Type > Trail Limit. You can refer to this video from IBKR (they do on their platform) but the concept is the same: ua-cam.com/video/4Z0s7q-Hawo/v-deo.html
hi, i am still awaiting for my account opening, i have uploaded and completed all the supporting documents. Can we log on to our account with the mobile app, while the account still pending approval?
Hi Ziet I have good experience in metatrader . One of its advantage the ability to place a buy order and if the market move opposite trend you can place sell order without close the deal. Wht i mean at the end you ll have buy and sell orders Will you plz explain to me how to make these orders using ibkr Thx
Hi Yoshika, that is normal because IBKR shows delayed price by default. If you want live market data to trade, you need to subscribe for market data which might cost 10 to 20 USD a month. Otherwise, you can use alternatives like marketwatch / google finance / investing.com to get the job done - not a big issue to be honest!
Hi i want to switch from etoro to tradestation global. The benefits you've listed fits my preferences.. But the platform UIUX is very poorly designed. Could you make a video to help please? Before I migrate.
IBKR's platform is almost similar to TD Ameritrade, though I must admit eToro has a much user friendly interface. That said, TradeStation Global users can also use Interactive Brokers platform to trade, so this is actually the video you are requesting 😊
@@donkeylzc Yep correct. You can refer this video I made to learn the steps to open a TSG-IBKR account: ua-cam.com/video/GzMznnp9XyM/v-deo.html Once you opened via TSG's link, they will redirect you to IBKR to open a IBKR account. Afterwards, just have to go through a little bit of process then you will be under TSG's client. But, you have the freedom to choose whether to trade on IBKR platform or using TradeStation's platform. In this case, I (along with many forumers) choose to use IBKR credentials to trade on IBKR platform, the rate applied is TSG's rate. IBKR and TSG has a partnership for that! 😊
Hi Alex, you cant choose the IBKR entity since it is assigned based on your geolocation; that said, the funding is all the same for any IBKR entity yea, still can fund using SG bank account
Hi there. I use TradeStation Global which is an introducing broker to IBKR. You can refer to my previous video to open it: ua-cam.com/video/GzMznnp9XyM/v-deo.html
Hi there, Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corp is correct, they have updated few months back after this video was recorded. I've updated in the pinned comments. Cheers!
Hi Dinesh, it only applies discount for the first international transfer that you make from clicking on my link (new account, not for existing accounts). Hope this helps!
Hi, Ziet. I've resolved the issue with the settled cash on Interactive brokers. The problem was with my residence (small European country), but everything is ok now. I started researching some healthcare companies and in my free time i'm reading clinical studies on drugs waiting for approval. It's very exiting :) But when i tried to sell some shares on LSE i received the following message: "Order size too small, passive orders with a price better than the exchange BBO must meet the exchanges Minimum Quantity at Touch requirement." What does this mean? I've read some things about this, but i can't understand it fully.
Hi David, I guess there is a minimum lot size for the stock exchange? An easier way to understand this would be to email TSG customer service (globalsupport@tradestation-international.com) because I'm not that familiar with non-US exchanges😬
@@ZietInvests Thanks, i've written the support last night and i'm waiting for their answer. What does this minimum lot size for the stock exchange means? Can you give me an example, because i can't find a good explanation. Does the US stocks have this also?
@@davidbale2094 Ah, different exchange will have a minimum lot size per trade. For example, the minimum lot size for US market is 1 share, so you need to buy at least 1 share per trade. Another market like HKEX and Malaysia's BURSA, the miminum board lot size is 100 shares, so we have to buy 100 shares at least, and at an increment of 100 (i.e., 100, 200, 300, 400, 500)
@@ZietInvests Thanks and excuse me for the questions. I try to sell 100 shares and this message, that i copied above, appears. And before 3 days i sold 100 shares from the same company without a problem. I will wait for the answer of the support as you advised me.
@@davidbale2094 Hmmm this is on LSE aite? I'm afraid I have no idea why is that the case as I've not traded LSE before. I've never met such issue on NYSE and Nasdaq
I did deposit without going through the step at IBKR. I did it straight away from the local bank. It took about 30mins to receive. Should be fine, right ?
Yes of course, direct funding (bank wire from malaysia) works, but you will be converting your currency at the bank's FX rate, which is slightly worse off the market spot rate. As long as you don't mind the losses while converting, you are good to go! 😊
@@cfreeman3730 Oh...hmm..Did the fund successfully reflected in your IBKR account? I would recommend to do that step to notify IBKR beforehand, just to be safe 😝 (that's the proper procedure tho)
@@ZietInvests Yes the fund was through. But i think you are right, is better to notify IBKR and check the banking info again before do the transfer, in case they change their banking info then you will see it from there.

Hi, it should take 1 business day before you can start trading after converting your fund.
I didn't bother using the close currency position, I guess its more useful for forex traders since they might have varying currencies in their account
Hey mate! :) when you enter into the App it has 2 options Live/Paper account. Are there any difference or what do you use to invest?
Thanks 😊
Hi Varga - Live account is where you deposit real money to trade. (I use this)
Paper account is just a test account for you to test and play with it, no real money involved.

Hi Haziq, if you just converted, you need to wait settlement of 1 business day before you can trade. And yes, we all been there done that haha 😂
Thanks for the video! May I ask what do I do when there's a pop msg before I want to place an order:
You're submitting your order without market data.
Great stuff!
Thank you chris!

its a good video mate! but question, if i want to do long term investment, lets say fo 5 -10 years ahead, which time in force i should choose? day, good till cancel or at the opening?
cheers mate!
Hi Christiano, if you want to do long term investment, that means you just want to BUY and not do anything else.
What you need here is a BUY order, either in
1. Day - only for the current trading day and will expire at the end of it
2. Good Till Cancel - the order will expire when you canceled, else always active
3. At the opening - order will only be placed at the next trading day opening
I would usually use "Day", buy it, and forget about it (Hold).

Hi Ziet, thanks for all the great videos. Very detailing and guided me step by step. But how to subscribe IPO stocks on HK and US exch?
Hi Steven, I have not subscribed to any IPO, and from what I know, the prerequisite for IPO subscription is very high (for example asset amount of USD 200k, or premium trader). I suggest for you to contact IBKR customer support to check on the details for IPO subscription (note that it is usually not so accessible for retail investors)

Hi Rini, yes you can definitely do that, just refer to other sources which has live prices (Webull desktop, investing.com, marketwatch, google finance etc.), should be good enough if you are not actively trading, else just spend the extra bucks for market data subscription.

Hi there, that feature is not available, for SGD, IB only accept Bank Wire (which is local FAST Transfer equivalent in Singapore).
@@ZietInvests Thanks. FAST transfer is also almost instant.
Hi Ziet, we can't transfer via transferwise to IBKR(USD) right? Have to be MYR to CIMB(SGD) to IBKR(SGD)
Hi Vincent, technically it is possible, and IBKR does not have clear cut rejection policies for 3rd party funding. However, there have been reports from online community that their fund are either delayed/rejected or withheld for investigation concerns, all of which are issues that made me decided not to recommend one to attempt so.

Thank you once again.

if i have a margin account and i deposit cash to it, will i be able to buy stocks long term with my money or it will always add margin to it ?
Hi Eugene, I have not tried margin trading before because my account is cash account. I believe you need to inject cash in within a certain period of time as collateral or have to pay margin interest (im not very sure, probably need to dig further)

Hi Ibrahim, if i understand you correctly, are you referring to margin trading? Or short selling?
Can I ask why IB app shows price very different from the real price in time? Would this affect me buying a stock at a good price :(
Hi Yoshika, that is normal because IBKR shows delayed price by default.
@@ZietInvests u mean to say.. When I open tradestation online, then I can download the IBKR and log in using tradestation global acc?
@@donkeylzc Yep correct. You can refer this video I made to learn the steps to open a TSG-IBKR account: ua-cam.com/video/GzMznnp9XyM/v-deo.html
Once you opened via TSG's link, they will redirect you to IBKR to open a IBKR account.
This video is dated big time. For some reason my IBKR app does not look anything like this nor does it have any configuration options like this.

Hi, Ziet.
I've resolved the issue with the settled cash on Interactive brokers.
The problem was with my residence (small European country), but everything is ok now.
I started researching some healthcare companies and in my free time i'm reading clinical studies on drugs waiting for approval. It's very exiting :)
But when i tried to sell some shares on LSE i received the following message: "Order size too small, passive orders with a price better than the exchange BBO must meet the exchanges Minimum Quantity at Touch requirement."
What does this mean?
