Ziet- one issue with ibkr is non- fractional in irish etf. Whats your view on usd 2/ transaction on irish etfs? for dca even if we choses low cost itish etfs like vwrs (100-120), Usd 2 on USD 100 is 2% sales charge. Second is there a way to get asset allocation in ibkr?
@@iitkgpvgrohit that is correct, the fees are higher (around 1.5 GBP) for LSE, but IBKR’s should be the cheapest option you can find out there. For DCA, i would ideally go with at least 1000 usd to minimise the brokerage fee, because 2% is not the price you would want to pay for an index investment

IB is a great broker, but there are two points not that good at least here in Europe. On the one hand, the customer service is quite poor, and on the other hand the protection scheme offered outside the US is variable, in Ireland for example you are protected with only €20k.

Haha so sorry about that! But don't feel bad about it, the referral reward is really bad, so much so its not even worth the effort to click into it 😂 From what I read you only get the reward after 1 whole year!

I am struggling to understand how IB calculates the P/L. For example lets say I bought 10 shares of stock A at $15. I have to pay $151 15*10+1 (fees). The next day I bought 10 at 12 so I pay 121. After 2 days I have 20 shares and average cost is =(151+121)/20= 13.6. Then I sold 10 at 14. So my assumption is that I already made a profit of =140-136=4. But when I checked it actually showed my profit is minus. So my question is: how the IB does the calculation?
Hi Van, without doing the maths, you have to take into account your commission fee as well yeah, depending whether you are on fixed or tiered commission, they do differ (1.50 usd vs 0.35 usd) - try listing it down in a spreadsheet! (If its not an issue, you can also ask IBKR customer support) :)
Does Interactive have the type of Margin Account that lets investors withdraw cash into their Bank Account? I think its called borrowing against the stock portfolio like M1 Invest???

Hi Nicholas, I've not tried that amount before 😂 You can use CIMB MY internal transfer (not that bad actually, rates comparable to Wise), or try a mixture of InstaReM + Wise + BigPay etc.
What if my local currency is not on the list of accepted base currencies? Would I need to open a US bank account to make a deposit or will my local currency be automatically converted to US if I choose to make a deposit?

Hi Ziet I had opened the IB acc under Tradestation Global following ur instruction in ur nicely explained video. Just one thing that happened that i couldnt understand. Recently i had performed a conversion of HK dollar to USD. The transaction was filled but however there had been a remaining small amount HKD which cant be convert to USD, there had been no more pending order, i presumed the transaction had been completed. Days after, i notice the remaining HK dollar no longer there though i had not performed any further conversion order to convert it, is there any explanation behind this?
@@ZietInvests TSG replied as follow : If the non-base currency balance is deemed to be nominal. Nominal balances are defined as those below USD 5.00, or equivalent. Such balances are regularly swept once settlement has been completed into the Base Currency as long as no other unsettled activity remains. Note that balances that are accrued but not yet posted, such as interest debits and credits, are not subject to being swept while in an accrual state. We see that that the nominal HKD balance was auto converted by IBKR on 04 October 2021.

For the margin finance interest rate, it is calculate by monthly or yearly?
I believe they are all quoted monthly (charged monthly, but accrued on a daily basis)

Hmmm, was the amount very small? This is something new to me too, try checking wi tho TSG customer support? They are usually quite responsive

The conversion is correct, but both is done at spot rate, so the conversion losses is minimal

Is the worst...TD Ameritrade is best....the only IB is popular because it's international
Both have its pros and cons, TD Ameritrade only covers US and only US, 0 flexibility and no fractional shares as well (TDA SG)
