I love your book and am proud to have it in my classroom library! About half of my students are African American and I realized a few years back that my classroom library wasn´t very diverse, so I made that my mission. I do want my students to see themselves in the books we read.
This is a very good idea. Introducing the books will benefit all the children and 'normalize' diversity. Children who may not be able to identify themselves in the book will learn to see life through a different lens.
I love your classroom so organized and ready to learn. I love educational field so exciting seeing children growth. I had worked in the educational field for 20 years as a paraprofessional no child left behind. Retired after 20 years stayed home for two years and went back to sub for Middle school, High school and alternative schools. I enjoy subbing for all schools. I enjoyed this video so much keep doing what you love to do. You are a AWESOME TEACHER!📕📚📏🖇✂️🖍✏️🗂📓📗📒❤️
What an awesome video of all your hard work and dedication. I also just found out in one of your videos that you decided to stop teaching. I am still thankful to God that i was able to meet what a wonderful person you are. God bless you and your family. 🙏
I love your classroom set up! I'm a first year second grade teacher going into this pretty clueless on how to set up my classroom. I found your video extremely helpful and inspirational!
You did a wonderful job with your classroom tour video. I have a friend that will be teaching third grade for the first time. I sent her this video. Thanks for your passion for learning.
I have been on all over different sites looking for ideas for classroom set up and activities! What a waste of time! I wish I simply came here first! I liked and subscribed! I love EVERYTHING about your classroom! I am a 14 year & 2 year Preschool & Kindergarten teacher and this is my first year with 3rd graders!! I am excitedly-terrified. But you gave me some great ideas and I will be back for more! Have a great upcoming school year!
This is so cool.. I am not a “Teacher” lol. But I teach Sunday school ( I know God says, otherwise) 😂 and teach at a Learning center with 3yr olds.. I love your classroom. ❤
@@gordenmarthadove122 I have a nephew living with me now who has some learning obstacles but we are working hard to get him where he needs to be,I think those numbers will help him. Thank you again for sharing!!🙏🏾🙂
What are some 3rd grade books you would recommend to include in a 3rd grade classroom where the students are all white and Christian, so that African American children and families and children of diverse backgrounds and ethnicities are represented positively? The teacher already has educational books such as biographies and celebrations, but is looking for more fiction books that have a positive and organic inclusivity. For example, a story about a boy and his dog, and the character is AA, or a story about a child adjusting to a new sibling, learning to be a good sport, or various story topics for every third grader, but with diversity.
Can I suggest you look into utilizing a "sound wall" instead of a word wall? Research has showed that word walls are not effective. Especially the way you have the word "amazing" as a word that begins with a. Amazing actually has a schwa at the start of the word, not an a sound. That's quite confusing. Not trying to be antagonizing, just thought I would offer a suggestion. If you're not familiar with the Science of Reading, check out the latest research.

I see your ELA curriculum is EL. What's your thoughts about it. My district had it for 2 or 3 years and quickly moved to Wonders.
