    Magazines are a huge issue. A video on what you need to do with that and max OAL vs CBTO would be great!

    • @Iscariot18
      @Iscariot18 20 днів тому

      What's there to do? If it has to fit the magazine the overall length can't be too long. Subtract a bit more than max mag length for some leeway.

      I think Lonepeak actions offer a medium length action for long mags??....or...shorter throat/lead when chambering.

    I have a Tikka CTR mag I can seat to 2.90 in, comfortably, for one gun, the other, a T3X with the M+ mag, won't accept it, yet I see other folk with an M+ mag, and it's marked M+, that will accept it, that's magazines for you, I can physically see the difference between it and another M+ mag and a std T3X mag on the insert thicknesses.. Mr Dremel is a pretty cool dude in my eyes, lots of room there to modify those mags. Guns are within .002 of each other on CBTO and CBTD. Life with guns.

    I picked up another 8 pound jug if H4350 here locally. The next day they had 2 more jugs on the shelf. Really wanted to get those as well but I've got 3 rifles that are close to completion, thus, gotta save some money for those

    That is pretty much the same load I am shooting, I have no problems jumping 30 thousandths with the 140 inside of mag length.

    It’ll be interesting as I’m about to partake in the same journey. Trying heavier bullets, which will end up jumping at least 75,000 to over 100,000 to fit in the magazine.

    Good morning from New Zealand.
    I have been watching your channel for a while and not because
    I'm a competitor, but because I want to reload better!
    Some of it is not worth pursuing to reload for a hunting round.
    But I sometimes struggle understanding what you are trying to explain.
    Point in question and sorry if this sounds thick to you, but what is "ES" please?
    I hunt with a Tikka .243Win Aspire, metal trigger plate and a set trigger.
    Firing Norma brass, 90grn Hornady ELD-X bullets over 42grn H4350 powder.
    Half inch group at 100Yds and three inch group 400Yds.
    Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

      ES stands for "extreme spread". It means the higher velocity minus the lower velocity.

    • @richardt.4224
      @richardt.4224 20 днів тому +2

      @toddb930 thanks for that, I should have known.
      I reload in batches of 50 then go to my range and put five over my chronograph at a 100yd target, mainly to check the velocity and adjust the drop chart on the stock of my rifle.
      My last ES was 23fps and an average increase from 3050 to 3115fps (it was a different batch of 50 brass)!
      Still fine tuning my reloading to improve this without doing too much work.
      Thanks for your reply.

      @@richardt.4224 -- are you on the south island? My wife and I visited the south island in the early 90's. That is very beautiful country.

    • @richardt.4224
      @richardt.4224 20 днів тому +3

      @toddb930 Yes, but I have lived and worked in a few other countries too.
      I'm originally from England and have been in NZ about 35 years, but with a
      five years stint in Adelaide South Australia. I was predominantly a black powder
      shotgun competitor shooting at the World MLAIC championships, for NZ & OZ.
      I did 7 years hunting with a BP patched round ball rifle, but met a lovely lady who
      hunted with a 7mm-08, so I went modern. I should have done it years ago.
      I arrived in Christchurch NZ and stayed there 9 yrs, moved to Dunedin for 7yrs
      Adelaide for 5yrs, rest of the time in a coastal community by the Ashburton River.
      All in this paradise we call the South Island of New Zealand.

    Keith, can you please explain maybe in a near future video what is happening with a rifle when you find a load with a low ES & SD? If you discover a group that tight, is low ES and SD critical? What’s the disadvantage? I am at this exact time developing this same 6.5cm with the same component except with small primer Alpha brass with Federal primers. Just a few tenths of a grain difference and I get wildly different ES and SD.

    interesting. you are shooting a lower node which at 100 yards on paper may look fine. now, imagine a moderate wind at 500 yards. was it worth the hustle?

    Keith so the loading procedure prior - the 284 you were checking for POI now you looking for lowest ES - now I am confused😮😮😮

    • @winninginthewind
      @winninginthewind  20 днів тому +2

      We will be connecting the dots when we do final load development. Excessive ES cannot be tolerated in either sport. The intent is to avoid that during fireforming.
