Tied a couple of these up, they looked great on the bench, but did not ride hook up in the water. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I ended up trimming all the brush material off the bottom of the fly and then coating that bottom area with UV resin. That did the trick. Definitely a nice looking fly, I look forward to trying it out when the world returns to normal and I can get on a plane again!!
Sometimes depending on the knot, leader lb test, or even how densely tied the fly is that can all can make a fly with small lead eyes to turn over. But typically I don’t have issues with that. What you did could work or even add heavier eyes like me or lg
Looks like an awesome pattern! Do that same fly in some tan & gold, green & chartreuse, rusty brown & tan... It'd work from Reds, and bonefish to those Big mountain trout, and bass! I gotta make some of those! Thanks.
What native species live as high in the mountains as the trout do in Costa Rica? I didn’t think there were any native species that lived at that elevation.
Beauty! That rainbow wasn’t too shabby either. 😉
AtmaRising many thanks. Yeah that trout was a big girl for sure.

Chris Sewell certainly the color options are endless and the fly can no doubt be used in both fresh and saltwater just switch out the hooks
Great fly! Thanks!
Dude. So good.
What's the best red fly for LA. I live just north of NOLA.
Pretty fly!!!!
Danny D-Rock Mahaffey many thanks. Works well too.
hey Jesse - great looking fly. Idon't seem to be able to find the materials used in the description. am I missing something? thanks.
I might of missed it but what was the hook size?
What other color combos do you throw in this? Murky vs clear...
Garrett Warren tan/orange. Brown/gold. Olive/white makes a good baitfish fly too actually
@@BackwaterFlyFishing Dope. I will definitely add some copper chenille with that tan/orange combo.
@@garrettwarren287 no doubt!
Oh, invasive trout in Costa Rica too! Costa Rica natives are hurting from their presence there no doubt.

Hook size?
Can't get past the depressing music. You need to tell us what you are doing, how you are tying.
