You have no idea how huge this is to me. I've been listening to Joel's music ever since he started. Seen him multiple times in Boston. His music has changed my life and why I made music. A fellow Niagara Falls native here. I have had the privilege to see Joel play about 15 times, including a couple 6 hour sets in Toronto. One of the best ever to do it. I'm excited for this one!

Actually, what he said was that his dad had bought 8 discs such as the doors, warrant, and others, but what really stood out and sent him down his path was Tears for Fears.

I love how this guy reminds me of friends of mine in Ontario. Pretty genuine and authentic. Enjoys bullshitting, but also introverted. It’s obvious that fame hasn’t changed him much and you gotta respect that.
Ended up seeing him live at a music festival in Squamish by chance. Took a pill for the first time at 36 years old. First time I was able to dance my face off without shame. One of the best nights of my life. Like many of the commenters here: in my life it was a real rough patch with some high points peppered in there.
I love that reference to his sunset years too. Exactly how I feel about where I am at too, but couldn’t really find a succinct way to describe it. I’m 43.

I live one town over from NF. I know one of his former classmates. Everything she said about him makes sense now. Weird, nerdy, quirky, brilliant if you understood his brain. When he told people he hung out with Tommy Lee nobody believed him apparently. At least not at first. I'm glad he found his lane. Even if he's not a fan of his music, it's still cool. 👀

With Deadmau5's music during the intro and throughout the preview, this has to be the sickest preview I've ever seen
Deadmau5 is normally pretty boring in podcast and interviews, unless its about producing music or making a stage show for djs. Which means the person interviewing needs to know alot about both. Im interested tonsee what he will get from joel buecause the JRE apperence wasnt so great.
I notice the theme of shawn ryans podcast is diving into whos the person behind the talent, courage and accomplishments and what made and drives them. So shawn is strong in that aspect and i see him being able to bring out some interesting details out of his guests.
Joe Rogan kind of just aimlessly rambles on and asks the same superficial stuff over and over every interview with base level knowledge with less structured interviews. I dont think the two will be the same or comparabke.
I think you will enjoy this one. Joel also shares some vulnerabilities during this interview.
I will absolutely watch. I cannot tell you the number of times I have been drunk, high, or both, and had a riot while listening to his music. Glad those days are over for me, but I’m (mostly) not sorry they happened.

I remember the first time I heard DeadMau5 as a kid on an MTV commercial with the jabbawockeez. My mind was blown. Been a huge fan ever since! Deadmau5 makes it into my top 5 artists, every year without fail (spotify wrapped)

uhhh what in the best collab ever???? Ive been listening to Deadmau5 for a long time and finally got to see his show live last year in my hometown. crazy that these two VERY different interests in my life are colliding! Im so here for it!
I’m in my mid 30’s, “I Remember” came out when I was 20-21. I had just gotten home from the military and was depressed as hell. I went in, and when I got back, it seemed like the world had changed. “I Remember” was like an escape. For some reason it made me nostalgic for life pre military/pre smart phone. Deadmau5‘s music to this day is nostalgic and puts me in a good mood.
Man, I’m not a veteran but I lost my mother in those years… I remember was the exact kind of track to lose myself into and just forget about the pain for a few minutes.

2024 is going to be the next level for this show. I love that you’re branching out into different areas. I grew up in Toronto during Joel’s rise to fame he was never a hollywood type or famous prick you’d assume. Guy would pull up in his Ferrari to nightclubs just to chill with regular people and listen to live music. Met him a ton of times Solid dude.
