You know it's bad when levi's tone changes from "this is a cool storm that I like studying" to "You need to make preparations and evacuate"
I've heard reports that some storm chasers underestimated the surges lead time relative to the hurricane and are already trapped...

I'm not sure if I've ever heard Levi seem so worried. That to me is scary.
God bless.
I have been watching levi for the last few years and I can't put into words his tone and demeanor. It is almost scary. My thoughts and prayers are with our fellow Americans in Louisiana and Texas. My the lord keep them safe and out of harms way.
He knows just about everyone that didn't evac is dead but can't actually say it. Being a weather forecaster and knowing some of the folks following you are doomed...
🙄
Thank you for your prayers. I'm in Houston. It is now 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. The wind has picked up considerably. I can smell rain in the air. The sun goes in and out of cloud bands. Rings of very dark clouds circle around overhead. I don't hear the birds anymore. I think they have left.
Ashley Davidson76 This my first time to hear this man, so have nothing to compare it to. His words are a little scary, but I like his tone which sounds serious, but not panicky. I think it’s appropriate.
@@susanquiroz8106 He's the most professional that I've seen in his manner and tone in delivering forecasts, and a has a lot of educational content too on the mechanics of these storms. That's why if he says the situation is dire, then I believe it is.
You are so professional and intelligent. You explain it so easily. Thank you. You are the best at this. I've watched other channels. You're the best.
😚🥰
I agree 💯%. I love the way he explains everything.
Heartbreaking for those people. I hope no one decided to ride this one out. This one will be devastating.

Some people have zero choice but to ride it out. Have we not seen this with Katrina?
Economic woes are even worst now thanks to “Co-vid”, so yeah, some people just can’t pick up and leave.
Hopefully they’ll find adequate shelter in order to survive.

Every bit of it

I hate to say this, but being realistic, there will be a bumpkin somewhere out there that decides to stay.
@@EZIEKIEL26 the cities & parishes in Louisiana as well as the counties & cities in Texas provided buses out of the area to shelters for anyone unable to leave on their own. Lake Charles' mayor said they had 100% evac for Rita and expected to have it for this one, too, bc of the bussing and provided shelters. Praying they achieved that.
God bless Louisiana and Texas. Please evacuate while there is still time!
Couldn't do it, I won't leave my pets. So now I am in the direct path. God Bless Texas/Louisiana.
Some god, he'll help you evacuate but won't stop a storm.
If god exists, clearly he does not like lousyiana lol.
@@Itsatz0 Haha yeah, I love the bible thumpers logic. If someone survives near death praise god, but if they die from it, then god works in mysterious ways. Can't lose lmao.
That storm is beautiful, and nasty at the same time
Ill be streaming it from East Texas
Ya a beautiful man made storm...
I feel guilty for admiring the power, structure, and science of hurricanes. I definitely don't want to see anyone hurt or lose their homes and jobs.. I just find them beautiful!
Camping Mods, just subbed...why do you still have a livestream scheduled from months ago? Are you even able to livestream?
That perfect eye tho 👁️🗨️
I have never heard such terms as "larger than the historical records" and the National Hurricane Center calling this storm "unsurvivable". I don't know anyone down in that area but my heart is going out to everyone including those who are defying the evacuation order that was put out yesterday. This is obviously a lifetime event and that is saying a lot considering the frequency of hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico in the last 150 or more years. Thinking of the destruction of homes and property, and the people who may be killed by this, including the emergency staff whose job is to try to rescue anyone who did not evacuate....there is nothing left to say but good luck and whoever you believe in, please keep you safe. Bless you all.
hi from germany.pray for lousiana and galvesstone.gott bless you.🙏🙏🙏❤❤👍👍
Danke so nett (bad Yank translation ;-)
This is going to be devastating.
We'll survive..... no fear
Neo Bailey not everyone will survive this
Unreal how much this gained strength in just 36 hours. Praying for people that will see it up close tonight.
It could still get even stronger before it makes landfall
Unsurvivable storm surge is what meteorologists are saying. I've never heard anyone say that before
That's scary.
My wife had a dream about it this afternoon... it was terrifying
Only in Katrina as far as I remember
It’s the only language some fools will listen to in order to evacuate.
One meteorologist said the storm surge could be A TWO- STORY HIGH WALL OF WATER. 😱
We really do appreciate your information
i'm aware that "thoughts and prayers" is an overused phrase nowadays but... from Ontario, i am truly sending my strongest thoughts and prayers to everyone who will be affected by Laura. 💞🙏
Well said an same here.
rita is such the "forgotten" storm for many but who endured her wrath, even well inland. I'm still north but not out of the impact of Laura and although I'm prepared I'm frightened. I'm praying for everyone in the path of this storm. tomorrow will tell, God Help us all!🙏
🙏🏼🌹
Rita was a really bad one. SE Texas here. But in media and public discussions it was overshadowed by Katrina because of N.O. flooding and the effects on so many people. The kaos for such a long time in N.O. didnt hurt either in drawing attention away from Rita.
Praying for you as well. God be with you. Stand strong in faith
@@msmargiek48 Amen 🌀💦🙏🏼

Prayers to everybody that is going to be impacted by Laura! ❤️
Thanks for the update. Say a prayer for us in Louisiana! I'm already seeing wind gusts & I'm inland west of New Orleans
Stay safe from Laura, Laura😏🙄
@@jessicablesses6091 ~ I know right, I'm sure my name will be hung up for good after 🌀Laura rages through! Crazy part is that she'll have the brown ocean affect, remaining a hurricane inland for a few hours!...🌊~LAURA~🌊
I sure that you're right about Laura being retired as a name for Atlantic storms, barring a miracle, of course. His comment about the storm surge being "baked into the cake" reminded me of hurricane Katrina. If you recall, that was a category 3 storm with a category 5 storm surge. Even if the winds die down a little bit, the surge won't likely have time to dissipate to any appreciable degree.

Get out theres still time.
You are my only tropics source. Thank you from Melbourne, FL. My heart aches for the Gulf Coast.
same here from Vero Beach
This storm is moving over 90° water with 145 mph winds for another 10 hours. This storm could be a Category 5!
It’s supposed to be a high cat 4 150 mile an hour winds, cat 5 is 157 mph winds..hopefully it stays on it’s projected path, it’s a 50/50 chance it won’t shift and hit Galveston and Houston head on. We won’t find out until 10pm (Houston resident)
@@heatherloera298 Stay Safe!
This is already a wild season.... stay safe and thanks for the update Levi!
If Hanna had another day over water we probably would have had a cat 3 hit in July which is extremely rare. A lot of these storms when faced with favorable environments never had enough time. Same with isaias it only started to truly strengthen once it got near the Carolina coast but ran out of water too
Thank you Dr. Levi from Orange Texas ! ( I evacuated) Your work is awesome thank you so much !

Parts of Louisiana is already flooded and the storm is still hours away from landfall
Yeah I flew over the area on my way into the storm in the new Microsoft flight simulator (it has live weather) and the area was already getting bad rain. Seeing all the structures and towns near bayous and lakes made me realize just how historically bad this will be. I hope everyone heeded the evacuation order and the only thing lost is property.
On a more lighthearted note, I got to fly an Airbus 320 through the eye of a real category 4 hurricane which was super cool! I wouldn't have thought I'd ever get to do that virtually, and I almost didn't with how fast this storm has moved. I was lucky to get a few hours of free time to fly into it cause within the next couple hours it'll be on land. Crazy!
Hi Levi--Love your channel! I live in Tangipahoa Parish La. We have had 2 Tornado warnings so far and now the local Meterologists have added wind advisory of 50 mph gusts. We are about 100 miles northeast of New Orleans. This storm is incredible. I know Katrina and Rita were bad,but Lake Charles has never seen this type of storm in the history of hurricane record keeping!!I Have been thru Betsy and Camille and I have moved inland. Katrina and Rita weakened as they approached this one is intensifying!
Appreciate your wisdom Levi.
Hope most have evacuated. Prayers for those who have not 🙏🏼
Thanks for some of the best hurricane content anywhere. I think you help keep more people safe than you realize.
Sending love and prayers to Louisiana and Texas - please stay safe, everyone.
laura’s size it’s massive. It’s almost the size of Katrina and Irma
It is massive!
JW Golfing your original comment should not have offended anyone. No worries. I hope everyone in the path of Laura takes their pets and relocates asap if they have not already.
Shake it-shake-shake it-shake it like a polaroid picture
Grammah rhonda Ok but stay safe man
JW Golfing i am no where near that hurricane. My heart goes out for anyone who was unable to relocate.
Storm chaser in LA near Lake Charles doing a live feed earlier and roads near coast already over ran with water. Police said they are already received 911 calls asking for help and they couldn’t get to folks. Hope everyone who can get out do so.
Just Me people are stupid! If you stay, it’s on you! Don’t risk the lives of others when you should have listened to the authorities!
Southwestern Louisiana along the coast is the most dangerous place a storm chaser could be. It’s nothing but flat marshland for miles in every direction. Basically only two roads that take you away from the coast.
If those roads get cut off, those storm chasers are dead if they don’t get rescued immediately.
Houston got very lucky with this one just like they did with Rita
But that doesn't stop people from prep shaming. Even after we got hit bad by Harvey only 3 years ago! Drives me nuts!
@@Bcr3106 it’s just a matter of time before out luck runs out 😳👀
That is a scary looking storm. Prayers for all who live in its path. Please evacuate if advised to. Staying home will be terrifying and miserable anyway. And you can't save your home if the water or wind want to take it. 🙏🏻🧡
Thanks for the update. I love the super technical style of your videos.
You do a far better job than anybody I've ever heard. Thank you!
Thank you Levi for caring about us and bringing us such good information and details. This is very scary.
Lost everything in Laura and Delta came in October and finished my house off! Never ever want to go through that again. Unfortunately it seems like Lake Charles has become a target zone for these storms every year
Thank You for All of Your Hard Work for the Entire Life of This Storm.
The storm is so beautiful its dangerous. Evacuate if you can. 20 foot storm surge, 145 mph winds, 1’ of rain. Not survival. PLEASE GET OUT IF YOU CAN!
I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a Cat5.
Reminds me of Andrew just looking at her.
We were in Evangeline parish when Laura passed knocked out power 3 days got about 70 mph winds pretty shitty
Thank you for what you do Levi! This is a monster

Not to be flip - but always survivable possibility if there's a tree or some high stationary item and you have a strong grip.
Great video. Really feel for everyone in the path of Laura. If that’s you, do as he advised and evacuate now. Don’t wait til 3am when it’s dark and goodness knows what’s happening...
it would appear it is time to get the hell out of Dodge!!!!
Yes and pleeeaase take the pets!!!
It feels watching a small group of thunderstorms in the Atlantic ocean progress into cat 4 thousands of miles away.
A week or so ago this was just a rainy day in Africa.
Thank you for all the information you put out. I habe followed you since last year. I live in florida and your knowledge and information makes my life easier during hurricane season. Best weather channel

God bless them because we know what they will face and are praying for them. Let me start with this I am a Hurricane Michael survivor and will never forget and they will not either.
Pray for everyone in these affected areas. This storm is blowing up to maximum intensity with a broad damaging wind reach
There's a bunch of oil refinery plants in that area...
God bless all of the people who live in Laura’s path.
You can tell this is bad we’re getting bad up in Arkansas. And that’s pretty far away. God Bless America we sure need it rn
You're a national treasure Mr. Tidbits!
I just noticed the coulees and canals are getting full over here. Moved everything up high. They say it’s gonna be worst than Rita. Guess we gonna see.
Water reaching 30 miles inland!!!! Wow
Earlier, I shared this video on Facebook and its thumbnail was correct. Now, the thumbnail has changed into something blurry that looks like a pink bridge. Not sure what happened there, but I thought you should know.
Evacuate now
Man I like when your updates come out. I live on Galveston Bay, on the water and have decided to ride this one out. Was tickled to death that it stayed right! Prayers for the folks on LA / TX border!
Others report the weather...tropical tidbits forecasts the weather. Best content out there!
Once again, thank you for analysis w/o hype.
Continue your coverage.... we don't trust the local "officials "...... or the visiting "officials" either.....
It's really to late too prepare for this Hurricane with barely any time to even take cover if there is anyone who held off on their decision. I would suggest for anybody who held off too get too a local hotel at least a few stories high due to the storm surge that can become deadly for the families. Forget stocking up at this point. Grab what ever food on your way in through a convenient store or what ever for a day or two and after the storm clears, you can drive a county over for supplies if needed afterwards.
thanks for your insight as always!
It's hard to believe that this monster was just a regular storm when it passed over the Lesser Antilles two weeks ago...
Another excellent analysis
It's starting to look eerily like Katrina. That nearly perfect circle of an eye is ominous.
Its gonna be worse than that. ua-cam.com/video/LcUbq8IUKj8/v-deo.html
I don't know if it will be enough to weaken little bit before landfall.

How did this strengthen so fast...? Went from a strong tropical depression that might not even become a CAT-1...... to this? How did all the predictions underestimate it so much?
Thank you Levi! 🙏🏻👍
I was here in Florida during Hurricane Andrew. This looks a lot like Andrew but worse because of the flooding. We didn’t have flooding. Just severe winds.
Thanks. We are safe this time. Looking for you’re info on the next one.

Very concerned about this living in Miami. Its a sad feeling watching this happen, and I can't help out. Leave the coast peoples Find high ground at least. Bless.
You sounded kinda sad there at the end. Cheer up.

It kept calling for Cat 1 and I basically got bored of it and stopped checking on it for a couple days, now all of a sudden it's a mid cat 4... holy heck that was quick.
I've got your Stadium right here, Loiusianna!
