Building a relationship with different artist is good, but if your product ain't no good you are just wasting your time. I like when he said " Be your own individual." there are so many upcoming rappers out there feel that if they sound like somebody already out there in the business that they are going to make it as well. Not true.
Roger Cook you either sound like somebody else & people think it's impressive but they don't ever come back for more. Or you sound like something crazy different & get mad hate for it but guarantee half those haters hitting your soundcloud links more than your real fans.
His first reason he made it was because of the 5 years of hustle. That is the key to any success. It takes 10,000 hours of hustle to make it in America. Do that and you become a master. Or don't....
Brandon Derrick I agree hustle is important, but you gotta be hustling on shit that’s productive for that line of work. There’s a lot of people who think that making 20 beats a day is grinding hard. First of all, this is the exact cause of why the rap game is so watered down on the radio the last decade. Dudes are making 10 beats a day off the same 808 saved template and moving the bass around with a brass hit here and a synth there. Hard work is better used spending maybe 6 hours a day setting up lunches with artists or buying studio time. Researching record labels and calling distributors. It’s reading up in music business. It’s investing in an RnB real singer for vocals. It’s listening to your beat 100 times and not rushing it, so it is a masterpiece...I would also say to someone younger 16-25yrs old. Get an internship at an Indie radio station or any radio station for that matter. Think of what you will learn and how many contacts you will get every week.
Nothing but respect for this guy. In a time where its "cool" to deny god and his existence, its nice to see somebody successful speak so highly of him.

2. Be your own individual. Zay is a legend with music he created and branding his own sound with real instruments particularly the organ. It's sad when you look another producer like Lex Luger who was unique, crafted his own sound, and was so successful with that sound he changed hip hop entirely and gave it new life. But never really got to chance to reap the benefits or recognition because so many other producers came in and began to steal his trademark.
Good interview. Zay seems grounded and a relationship with God will keep you focused and your eyes on the prize. And a producer to stay around over 10 years is an accomplishment. Him and Gucci are just made for each other.
Zaytoven's guide to being a successful producer. Step 1: Make a beat Step 2: Sell that beat to rapper A Step 3: Sell that same beat to rapper B Step 4: Slightly change that beat and sell it to rapper C Step 5: ??? Step 6: Profit
Zaytoven is dropping some real knowledge here. Being a individual is a must if you are going to make in this industry and stand out from the rest. I also agree with the favor of God all things are possible. I got a lot respect for Zaytoven, he seems like a real down earth person.
The sound of these trap beats today are based off Zaytovens style.. he's a Legend 1. 5 yrs Grinding even when you aren't being paid upfront 2. His sound didn't get accepted out the gate.. You got to believe 3. Have Faith... Know that everything isn't supposed to be in your control.
Zaytoven - You hit me in the soul when you said your 3.Step !!! You took ONLY 5 years to become rich, living the way u live, while like you also said "there may be others who are maybe better than me but God will never put him in the position to "make it" - I'm one of these. Why?I started playing music as a child, a piano-flute in a small orchestra, then I had to move to another city...and now I'm sitting at the same spot after producing my music more than 10 years with different daw etc. - But I'm still broke like 10 years ago! Damn!Oh yeah...am older than you but still living with my parents. My artist name is The 41 Pills. I feel now like a totaly failure :/
He played organ in church. I noticed that overwhelmingly, musicians that make it have one thing in common - classical training in a real instrument usually before they started even writing beats. Also he is right you also need the blessing of God.
2:33 when he says pulling up at different studios, how do you exactly do that? Do you book a session with someone then meet new people or just walk right in?
as a kid Zaytoven was probably like "mom, I want to become a producer full time," mom says, good luck with that, now go do your homework. now look at him, making millions and meeting famous rappers for his job.
Lol best way to make it. Find somebody who needs you as much as you need them or fits your sound and stick and build with them. Ex: chop&keef. Mike Will with future. Etc...

Be willing to try other things and diversify your income. I've been posting videos here on YT for artists on marketing, branding, and promotion. The feedback has been great.

MAJORITY (90%) of the world is religious. Atheist make up less than 10% and are ridiculed for it, even in silence.
We don't deny his existence that's your bullshit theologian nonsense there is no God you are an irrational buffon for believing there is.

You can create your reality no matter the circumstances

It's good this brother said God bless him to be that successful he said the right thing
I like that God is perfect its true do all the hard work be unique but praying and putting God first and if He don't put you there its not happening
I agree with that also!
So you dont believe in God?

Brian Fortiz ?
2:33 when he says pulling up at different studios, how do you exactly do that? Do you book a session with someone then meet new people or just walk right in?
That's the same word said when i started making beats
Make and create Beatz my own way
Just as Zay said be yourself and be unique
And also be yourself
That Future-Foreva track was his dopest beat he ever produced in my opinion.
No one wants to really give up game. I don't know why they just don't say it.

I plan on looking him up never heard of him before but like his style and humility. Church Boys can't be beat!

I wanna get up as an independent artist.
Zaytavovens strength is his keys
Great Interview

Everbody says the same thing😑😑 "keep working" but people out here been doing it for over 8 years and aint still get nowhere...
it wont happen for everyone but it could. for some it takes 2 decades
DJ kahled nephew cali is a beast at beats also
Exactly sometimes you need luck on your side to be successful! It ain’t all about hard work. There are way better beat makers then murda Beatz.
Much appreciated Zay and Vlad
