A few lucky escapes because of this play from the back system up until now, today was Emery's fault. Leicester were high pressing after watching likely the Wolves game on video. He also needs to look at his team selection and setup, Digne on the left and with no midfield cover was poor from the management.
It's funny how we each see the same game through different colour tinted specs. I agree that all four of our goals were helped by Villa defensive errors, but really I thought we did boss the game for really long parts. Saying that, Villa did press quite a number of times especially down our right where we were weak, but we were defensively pretty strong and I think we ran the midfield especially in the second half. Our three transfer window signings, Tete, Christiansen and Souttar played really well and in turn give the rest of the team a real boost. Long-term injuries have caused us so much problems in the last three seasons but we are almost back to full strength, unbelievably I think we should be going for a European place now. Ps, always love going to Villa Park such an iconic old style football ground.
Watkins is such a frustrating player. His hold up play and general play is so good and that finish for the first goal was sublime… but then he just loses all composure for the rest of the game… it’s so frustrating

I'm trying to recover from a long battle with pneumonia, so this wasn't exactly good for the health. The defence let us down mainly, concentration was poor and we basically let this game slip from our grasp. If we want to move up the the table, we can't get into situations where we surrender a lead TWICE. And we need more players who are up to top of Prem table level. Unai Emery is doing a great job generally, but there's some stiff work needing to be done at Bodymoor Heath now, as much about getting the team in the right place psychologically as well as physically and technically. This was unacceptably careless. Villa can do much better, so let's not have a repeat! UTV.
