I was a teen when he died, and my dad also loved his music often singing to it in the car. We both mourned when we learned of his death. His songs were so relatable. Such a tragic loss, such a beautiful legacy.

To still be talked about and relevant 50 years later says so much about his talent. Saw Croce sings Croce and it was amazing. I still remember hearing about his passing and how hard it hit me. Gone WAY too soon.

Every time I thought i had mastered the acoustic guitar, I would put a Croce album on the turntable. Jim showed me, I still had a lot of learning to do!

Ironically, I was watching a film about Paul Simon. He and his band were driving to a gig, and playing a trivia game called "Plane crash or overdose" where they would take turns naming a musician and their cause of death.
Good video! It hard to believe that it has been 50years since Jim has passed! I always enjoyed his music! I remember writing an High School English paper on Jim's passing! I got a 100 from my English teacher on that paper!
I remember hearing about his death when I was a teenager while watching the Midnight Special. My late father used to love his song Bad, Bad Leroy Brown. I enjoyed all of his music but my two favorite songs are I Got A Name and I’ll Have To Say I Love You In A Song. Jim Croce’s music took you on a beautiful journey.
Childhood memory, on that 1 1/2 hr ride home from grandma`s house, my dad would play the Croce 8 track while I sat way in the far back seat riding in that station wagon. You know that seat facing out the back so I can see where we used to be. My sisters never bothered me back there so it was heaven for awhile. lol I like his music and he left us too soon.
I just heard AJ perform both his songs and his Father's. It was very touching to see and hear the son follow in his Father's footsteps. AJ is soft spoken and a tremendous musical talent. He, like his Father, is also a storyteller remembering many stories from the past. I would highly recommend seeing him should he come to your town. It will be a night to remember.❤
Jim Croce is probably my favorite singer/songwriter of all time. As a kid his music was a huge influence to my acoustic guitar playing. His music was something that my mom and dad who were both born before ww2 could listen to, and I could listen to it and we’d sing it together. My mom had his 3 records he recorded in an 18 month period before his tragic death in 1973, and a greatest hits 8 track that we listened to on moms zenith console stereo over and over again. My brother always had a Jim croce tape or cD in his vehicles and we’d always listen to it when driving around going places. I may possibly be the biggest Croce fan in the world. From his early stuff with his wife Ingrid like “railroad’s and riverboats” to the last song he ever recorded “salon and saloon”.. his son A.J. Croce has had a heluva ride as a musician. From losing his father at 2 years old, to going blind at 4, and regaining partial sight at age 10 , to learning how to play piano while blind, later guitar, and writing many of his own albums which are a combination of soul, jazz, blues and americana, and a career of over 30 years AJ is playing his father’s music to honor him on a tour that is coming here to Davenport tonight. I didn’t think I’d get to go, but thanks to my father in law and mother in law we get to see him tonight at the Adler Theater. This is exciting for me. I have wanted to see AJ for years but never have gone. Also did you know he recorded an album here in the quad cities a few years back, at Daytrotter studios. Yeah I’m a nerd but Jim Croce’s music means so much to me because of what it was for my family, and the influence it gave me to play guitar 🇺🇸
I can't imagine how many songs and how much music we lost when these two artists died. Remember that Maury Muehleisen was also on the aircraft. Couple of others too.
I’ve been a huge fan since I was 8 years old back in ‘73 and it’s really hard to choose a favorite since I love all of them! But I think “The Hard Way Every Time” really is one of his most underrated songs that truly resonates with me. ❤️ Very sadly and fondly remembering him and Maury as it was 51 years ago tonight. 😢💔🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I was 10 y.o. when Jim died in the 6th grade on a field trip I started singing Bad Bad Leroy Brown on bus when everyone including teacher , chaperone and Bus driver joined in , I'll never forget that and will never forget Jim Croce ! R.I.P. Jim ! 🥀🌺🌷🌹💐🌷🪷🌸💮🏵️🪻🌻🌼
He was my first musician that I chose as my favorite, I was 12, he died a year later. I can still sing word for word most of his songs and I can’t remember what I had for breakfast.
I just came from a show down town Kansas City - CROCE plays Croce - Jim’s son AJ . Played a couple hours and told stories and I have to say Jim , you have to be proud watching from heaven . Your son is amazing
I'm old enough to remember that about a year or so before he died, he was fast becoming one of the biggest stars in music. And after he died, he did become the biggest star in music.

He was killed on my 8th birthday in Natchitoches (Nak-a-tish), LA. He had just finished a show at Northwestern St. University and was looking forward to going home. When taking off from the small airport the place clipped a pecan tree at the end of the runway killing all on board. An older friend of mine was a student and escorted him to his car to go to the airport, so he was one of the last people to see him alive.
He was killed on my 18th birthday in Natchitoches, Louisiana. As told to me, the Natchitoches Police was after him for marijuana and that caused a hasty rush to escape Natchitoches. The same year I saw ZZ Top at Northwestern.
In a Song. He missed😢. He a icon, legend gone too soon. We have lost a lot of great musicians throughout our lives. A lot of what ifs has pop up to me and the shape of music would become more present if they were still around. RIH to Jim Croce and other greats who left us too soon and their legacies for us to remember. Sad video to watch😢.
Time in a bottle! He is the person who inspired me to buy a guitar! Loved his songs! Unfortunately my short fingers couldn’t play any of his songs! I still play guitar & sing though!
I was working as a bus boy the evening they announced over the radio the dish washer had in the kitchen, that Jim was killed in a plane crash. Unbeknown to me at the time, was that sitting in the restaurant that fateful night was Sam Walton and his wife Helen. The restaurant, Fred's Hickory Inn, Bentonville, Arkansas, is still in operation.
I was only 12 when Jim Croce died but I remember Bad Bad Leroy Brown and I remember the cartoon video that Sonny and Cher made and sang to on their TV show.
He, like many others were killed in a plane crash. Some even predicted that they or their relatives would become the next victim of a plane crash. It’s so sad especially when he, like many others were already at the peak of their careers. I never really liked flying in a plane.
The question really should be....... Which Jim Croce song do you dislike! But even with that question it would be hard to figure out which one if any!🎙️ 🥀the music world is less without him🎉
