“Don’t dare question my loyalty to my leader or my party ever again” might be his most intimidating line in the whole show and not even a lick of “violent sexual imagery”
It's a shame as Rebecca's best line isn't in this, when they're watching Nicola's disastrous Remembrance walk and Rebecca says "She's officially a Cenotwat."
You absolutely know they actually rehearse like that. You also absolutely know we'd all buy the paper that would splash "too jaunty" all over the front pages. So it's both our faults, really.
"I don't know." You can see genuine confusion there. She's not just saying it to be nice, and certainly doesn't mean it to be nice, she's genuinely confused how Nicola, as bad as she was, was ousted by the other incompetents in charge - how she managed it.
I took it as obvious sarcasm, and that she knows exactly how Nicola lost out (because she's useless). Fits in with her "did you" line when Nicola says she really thought she could be PM. I don't think Rebecca ever really believed in her or that she'd win.
Given the statement by the new DG of the BBC that 'left wing' comedy must be purged its crystal clear that a show like this could not be done in the era of Johnson/Cummings.
Yes, it's all very sad isn't it? The big scary finger waggers have taken all our comedy away because it's got naughty words in. Except, that isn't true is it?
What? You know this only a few years ago and commissioned by the BBC...the home of PC...stop using 'PC Culture' as something to blame for everything. Remember that this is the work of Armando Iannucci who's been behind most of the best British comedy in the last 20 years. Content creators of that magnitude just simply don't come around that often.
Such great casting all round. Love Rebecca Gethings and Rebecca Front. Miles Jupp always cracks me up too

It was a good line but its cos she was right.

"The girl with the drag act tattoo" must be one of the funniest Malcolm Tucker insults.
"I don't think you got enough cuddles as a child." 😂
World-class eyebrow work Rebecca!
The best "Did you?" in TV history 😂
Saw your comment from 3 years ago, its right next to this one. You sir are history
Both of you are
Nicola's remembrance walk is iconic
Watching a politician laying a wreath will always be accompanied by "Down 2, 3, *frown* 2, 3,..." in my mind now 😄.
@@jayaybe1 ooh I just remembered!
she was always one of my favourites. her and ollie specifically were really interesting characters.
4:35 cheeky reflection of boom mic operator in the window
It's a shame this show wrapped up before brexit...imagine the material.
Five Sigma Brexit and Teresa May's goverment would be a material gold mine for this
Corbyn would have broke Malcolm's brain.
or a trump presidency
Brexit is more ridiculous than this.
Mourtzouphlos no Malcolm would have broke corbyn’s brain, if socialists had brains.
She's fit.
Very.
Indeed she is

that's arguably one of the shitter lines in the entire series
"Just get in there before I push you in!" Brilliant.
Solemn heron, think-thoughting session, quiet batpeople, what a creative force.

@Bilal Khalid Or possibly one of the greatest espionage novels ever written, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy from back in 1974.

This show was hardly left wing. It was actually very evenhanded.
i felt she was a lot more competent than Ollie
Nicola seemed to listen to her more than Ollie.
She was Nicola's Ollie, who was Ben's Glenn.

Surely they should have just stopped her press call. That would have made sense.

Best political satire in the 21 st century so far. I guess the PC-culture nowadays would never approve of such a series... shame.

+DiggingNorway This show ended in October 2012. I don't think PC culture has advanced much in the last 4½ years.
I can't have an electric fire in the bath anymore in case queers see it.
Thanks Jamie, you have just written what I was going to write - thanks for saving me the time and effort.
Brighouse!!
I loved this show. Back in the good old days when people could take the piss out of each other, be real and make jokes. I miss jokes.
They’d all be had up for bullying and verbal/emotional abuse, people would say they’re traumatised, can’t go out, ptsd etc.
'The good old days' i.e. the noughties? Wasn't that long ago lol
