Yeah, there should be offside technology, I never thought of that. One goal that happened in the FIFA WC 14- the player was offside and the ref didn't see that. And that caused them to win the match, which wasn't fair. FIFA needs offside technology, refs make bad calls or they don't make any calls at all.
Mexico vs Argentina WC 2010 Messi was CLEARLY offsides. Then the ref was in shock because he actually he admitted he messed up. Idk why they couldn't have taken off the goal
+ricomajestic Excactly....it won't even take that long. It'll take less than 25 seconds. What are you talking about...it'll take too long? As long as they get it right-that's what matters!
bjehulk...they can just do what is done in the NFL where a coach gets a limited number calls to be reviewed during a game. In soccer there could be a maximum of 2 review calls per team during an entire game. This would prevent repetitive stopping of the game. There is already technology that would review offside plays in real time and would not require the game to be stopped! Imagine how this could clean up the game. If a player is legitimately fouled or if he dives in the penalty area, the play could be reviewed by the 4th official and the correct call could be made. This might eliminate diving by players for fear of getting caught and receiving a red card!
Jerombolo The argument amongst the critics is if we introduce video replays like other sports it would slow down the game too much, so rather than stopping the game so the ref can watch a replay they use the current system so that the cameras and the tech do all the work and it just alerts the referee if it's a goal. FIFA stated the system must be able to do this in under 1 second to be considered. The 2 systems that passed are the ones that are now used.
Nicke. Well tennis is neither but they have this system there. Forgot it's name. You probably know which one, to see if the ball touches the line or not
+Carlos Franco the offside rule is a rule of interpretation.. it's not only about being in an offside position. the refs have to decide if he is active in the play...

hundreds of people keep saying in the comment that it can be solved by just using simple camera. If all of you have thought about it, what makes you think they skipped that idea? It's because they want more than that. Not because they didn't thought of it.
The NHL needs to use this technology for determining if the puck crossed the line or not. Far too often it's deemed inconclusive because the puck can't be seen through the goalies glove or underneath him.
+PugsNotDrugs4 That won't work, because this system only uses cameras. And if the puck is under the goalie and the goalie is in the goal with a part of his big protective material, even the cameras can't recognize it.

Funny how Football is the most popular sports around the world, and yet sports like Tennis, Ice Hockey, American Football etc. have those technologies and much much more, for years and years. In Ice Hockey, if the referee on the ice makes a mistake, the 2nd team of referees will watch the slow motion reply and correct him if necessary. Pav4n Because it's fucking expensive, goals can't really be moved again, it will be even more expensive, if something breaks, and it's not necessarily a useful effort. Plus, what happens, if referees start to count on this and then it doesn't work maybe one time? Nothing is flawless, but i'd rather have a very small human flaw than a very expensive technical flaw, which makes it lose all it's purpose.
It's not expensive relative for the money that is in football, at around £250K per install and it will last years and years, Premier League officials earn between £70,000/yr and £85,000/yr a year, the system pays for itself in the long run. Goals don't really get moved often, on the rare occasions where the groundsmen change the pitch they are more likely to repaint along the sides of the pitch. You seem to expect the system to have errors, Hawk-eye has been used in tennis for 10 years, and in other sports like cricket for nearly as long, this isnt exactly new technology. Even if Hawk-Eye was to slip up once, it would still be more accurate than a referee, look at all the close calls it has made already in the Premier League without incident. The reason this technology is needed isn't because the job cannot be done by a human, but because the decision needs to be instant, something a human cannot do. The reason it needs to be instant is so the ref can stop the game and declare the goal has been scored. You can't pause the game, or go back at a later time and declare that was a goal and play must be stopped, that's not football.
Pav4n uhm, your calculation is actuallypretty much non-existent. You don't pay more officials only because they need to watch the goals. And how does the camera decide, if it was the ball or just a head, which was going over the line?
People don't get it. The reason why cameras arent used is because there are barely any stoppages in football compared to the sports.you guys are on about. Having a review would stop the play and a possible counter attack that could lead to a goal.
thats the thing, the clock needs to be continually rolling, that's a huge part of why this sport is so amazing. I think if they stopped the game after every foul or offside or goal then the game would take twice as long and the game would be completely different.
the ref is allowed to change his decision.. it happened couple of times in soccer.. if there is a definitive reason to change it.. most recent to memory is kloses goal that was awarded then was cancelled when he told the ref he scored it with his hand.. then the ref cancelled the goal..
because in real business world, not everything require "upgrade" just because there is a new version available for something. or go with orkham's razor, simplest explanation: they had a XP client at that day. these kind of software are usually developed platform-independent. xp or vista or 7 or 8 is not relevant. they are just operating systems, hence tools.
Whilst i agree that works for many sports, that idea is used very effectively; unfortunately replays take time to analyse and make a decision upon. For stop-start sports like basketball, american football and rugby, that's fine! However for continuous sports with only very short breaks (by comparison), it is important that momentum etc is maintained by a very quick system, such as the ones shown.
It's harder to make an instant decision with cameras. You have to watch the replay and decide. Since football time is always going it takes unnecessary time.
+Joel Ayala doesn't matter. The game already is so long and time is wasted on every occassion (throw in's, corner kick, freekick etc). also those situations don't happen really often, so i would rather have a correct decision and play 94 instead of 92 minutes than having a wrong decision and just save two minutes. In the end those two minutes don't matter at all.
I totally agree 100% I really don't understand why they are complicating matters with all this technology. all you basically need is a guy to check the replays
I think of side technology would be difficult because you can't just stop at play, then expect everyone to get to the same exact spot if he wasn't offside!
Also because in football the time taken to make that decision would add to the extra time since the clock isn't stopped during intervals such as goals, outsides, corners etc
This video elegantly shows the inefficiencies of bureaucracy. All you really need is a couple of cameras and an extra official to watch the replay. Works well enough for hockey.
+K3NDO BL4CK The aren't trying to stop the game for replays, that's the issue, the system needs to be able to make up it's own mind in a quick amount of time. It's not as simple as putting a camera on the goal line (plus the camera can't effect the field of play).
randomstuff508 They engineered a much more precise system than a camera. Look at other sports that use video review, a lot of decisions are not changed because the video doesn't prove beyond a reasonable doubt.

They should set it up to where it flashes green lights on the post if the goal has been scored.
Why do they use windows XP ?
Because it took a very long time to develop, and it's probably a hassle to redesign it for anything else.
Andy Cox windows 7 was out in 2010 when they decided to make it...
TyloriusTechTips It doesn't make a different any OS will do the job.
because in real business world, not everything require "upgrade" just because there is a new version available for something. or go with orkham's razor, simplest explanation: they had a XP client at that day.
these kind of software are usually developed platform-independent. xp or vista or 7 or 8 is not relevant. they are just operating systems, hence tools.
exactly people need to understand that the underline technology is what matters and user interface is just for the avg users
DIOS NOS BENDIGA Y CUIDE A USTEDES Y A SUS FAMILIAS SIEMPRE. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🇵🇪🇵🇪🇵🇪🇵🇪🇵🇪.
as lONG AS we don't turn into hockey with the red lights and goal horns well actually Goal Horns are sick but I like the GOOAAAALLLL better
People were complaining about De Jongh's similar offense in the WC finals for months after...
*Uruguay vs Perú faltó está tecnología, el VAR manual no sirve para los goles*
Del 2013, y estamos en 2022
Why referees when you have cameras ^_^
Keezy .S for fights fauls and giving out cards
How is the ball tracked? Is there sensors inside the ball? How do the systems know the difference between the ball and other objects (like a head)?
Why cant they just put couple of go pros in the net?
I know right, it's easier than waiting for two years to have it installed
It's harder to make an instant decision with cameras. You have to watch the replay and decide. Since football time is always going it takes unnecessary time.
+Joel Ayala doesn't matter. The game already is so long and time is wasted on every occassion (throw in's, corner kick, freekick etc). also those situations don't happen really often, so i would rather have a correct decision and play 94 instead of 92 minutes than having a wrong decision and just save two minutes. In the end those two minutes don't matter at all.
i think most football fans would prefer no replays
slows the game down too much
I totally agree 100% I really don't understand why they are complicating matters with all this technology. all you basically need is a guy to check the replays
France - Honduras !
I think of side technology would be difficult because you can't just stop at play, then expect everyone to get to the same exact spot if he wasn't offside!
clicked off the video when sepp Blatter came
Also because in football the time taken to make that decision would add to the extra time since the clock isn't stopped during intervals such as goals, outsides, corners etc
Is the referee reading a script? O_o
Offside technology is also quite important as that of the goal line technology... Waiting for the FIFA to take that immediate action
minuto 6:48 sale guerrero de PERU :D
another great step towards matching fixing prevention!
Haha he is definitely reading that at 6:26
he is TURKİSH referee
Fenerbahçe cs one of the worst referees ever
Why?
goalref is magnetic, hawkeye is high speed cameras tracking the ball
FIFA should learn from Cricket, how to use technology.
After six years UA-cam recommended
more honest and competent referees. ball and line are fine
Where was this when Mexico played the Netherlands in 2014
WHO is here after Manchester and tottenhamn 😂
This video elegantly shows the inefficiencies of bureaucracy. All you really need is a couple of cameras and an extra official to watch the replay. Works well enough for hockey.
wtf u just need a camera at the goalline thats it
jezuuuz
+K3NDO BL4CK The aren't trying to stop the game for replays, that's the issue, the system needs to be able to make up it's own mind in a quick amount of time. It's not as simple as putting a camera on the goal line (plus the camera can't effect the field of play).
+jcdfbdus that's why you have a Video Ref like on rugby so they can make quick decisions on this
randomstuff508 They engineered a much more precise system than a camera. Look at other sports that use video review, a lot of decisions are not changed because the video doesn't prove beyond a reasonable doubt.
Frank Lampard is slowly retracting his middle finger in the background....
VAI CORINTHIANS
CAMPEÃO 2012
They don't want a system where it would take a minute to confirm a goal or not. They want to keep football a fast paced game
