@Kauê Corteze for me personally, they are good for what they are and where they are, as slayer songs. But I really REALLY prefer hanneman or holt's solos over Kerry. He plays that one B minor lick everytime. Though, I really like his solo part on repentless.
more brutal it might be..but the originall is more chaotic..cause back in 1984..it was chaos..and metallica..they were Kings..If it wasnt for them..all those bands Vader included..wouldnt have existed..so respect plz..!!!
I don't know. The original has that hint of savagery I can't find here. Probably because of the mix. I usually like Pavel Wiwczareks voice, but it sounds...funny here. I'm not really into covers when I listen to metal because a cover is an interpretation and even if it is technically perfect it sounds off-topic to my ear. This is exactly what happens with this song.

Great cover, Vader are a great band, when I first heard Ride The Lightning I was blown away by the heavy riffing, Metallica found a different path that wasn't for me but to each their own
I just love how Vader didn't even bother doing the acoustic intro HAHAHAHAHA, great cover, I personally like it even more than the original because it's a different style.
@@hieioni3354 Not even close. The original was way more raw and powerful. The stark contrast between the intro and verse shaked the entire metal world to its very core when it came out. Just because they tuned down and have a growly vocal doesnt make it more heavy.
comparison between Vdr and Met is senseless - both arrangements are fuckin kickass. The difference is genre. I prefer Vdr's death metal version. Cheers!
In my opinion it's the best song made by Metalica..When i hear it for the first time in 1994 ( edit. 1984 not 1994..) i fall in love...Comunist Poland in 1994 ( edit. 1984 ) - it was no so simply to buy Metalica album or Slayer tape...It was a tape time...
The recording quality of this cover sounds massive i can imagine an intense bloody gory battle going on while a dark sky vortex opens up. With regular thrash i cant really imagine this kind of intensity. Vader is awesome
This is the first cover of a Metallica song (that I have heard) that has not completely butchered it. Too many death metal bands thinking "blast beats!!!!! Blast beats everywhere!!!!!!!!!" Ever think there is a reason they weren't in the original? (other than the fact I doubt Lars can even play them)
The older I grow, the less I like blast beats. Blast beats ruins good riffs just like infinite double bass drumming. Must be the reason why I gave up on death and black metal lately.
It's very nice cover, but first solo is failed. I don't like Kirk style (you know wah I mean...), anyway he done good work in some old Metallica song. So sad that most covers of classic Metallica stuff don't touch that feeling.
Vader is of course a Polish band. I am Polish as well but when I read what some of you say that Lars should learn to play - say it to Chopin that some Japanese guys play his works better, say it to Chuck Berry that most teens can play his soloes better, and that Bob Dylan shouldn't have started writing cause everyone plays his songs better.
@@hatred9427 No lars = no Metallica. You can not like his drumming but Lars surely knows his job at the studio and you can even watch them at work. He is very important in the studio.
I'm laughing at people's comments who are saying they like it better than the original and criticizing Ulrich. Metallica WROTE THE SONG. THEY OWN IT. They also (including Ulrich) invented Thrash Metal.
Awesome cover! I listen to this version when I'm alone, and the original around my die-hard Metallica fan friends. The lack of the classical guitar intro and going straight into the heavy stuff makes it somewhat better. When I listen to the original, I usually skip the intro anyway. DLC out! \m/ (btw I completely loled on that last picture)
You should listen to the original. It's pretty brutal, even for Metallica (the only difference with the cover is the guitar tone, tuning, and vocals). This song (the original version of it) actually achieved the world record for the fastest-paced song ever recorded until it was surpassed by "Angel of Death" by Slayer (which I'm sure has also been surpassed since then).
I guess it depends on preference. This is a badass cover nevertheless except I wish they kept it in E Standard instead of downtuning to D Standard. I want to cover it with a Parkway Drive guitar tone and Winston McCall's vocal style myself, but keep the tuning in E Standard.
I don't know which one of us you're trying to insult with that, but I don't need a "metal card", anyway because I don't fit into that box. If you're insulting her, just stop because she has a right to not like the original version.
+raphael hourez Metallica was not the beginning of metal if that's what you're trying to say. And yes he deserves respect for what he's done but from a drumming perspective his technique is lazy and sloppy it wasn't that good to begin with and got worse over time
+tyler metz no, hes not saying that Metallica is the beggining of Metal, cause certainly its not, but when comes to Extreme Metal, yes, Metallica is a very important part of it...and the Ulrich subject, well people like you repeat what they read...the man was good at the time, certainly not the best, but "lazy"...no, in fact he used to be pretty tight most of the time...and yes, he deserves respect, his band is one of the most influential and big of all time
I'm probably in the minority but I still prefer the original, the riff, the vocals the bassline, the solos just sound much more aggressive on the original, the drum fills are more complex than the original but overall I feel they don't come across as strong as the pounding snare and bass on the original. A great cover but certainly doesn't get me going like the original.

I know this will sound weird but when listening to the 'ride the lightning' album, does anyone think the audio tone of the album feels like ice?
I dont ,probably because its the way I first heard it so to me its normal, other than wishing they would remaster it with more BASS.

Same, guess it's not that weird xD
YES the right amount of reverb over the Marshall distortion just gives off a frosted hellish sound
