Functional wood working. You took the time to study the mechanics and that machine is running smooth as butter. Whereas, you know how hard it is to drill a bore in a 5/8 dowel for the bobbins? Sure my wood is some hard woods I hewn from logs and I finished it nicely with a shellac so it looks nice, but the bobbins got some wobble. I think you need a lathe to perfectly drill center for the bobbins. Even then Ive seen expensive lathes where machining and intelligence is required to build a ram with enough travel for a perfectly bored bobbin. Doing it with a drill press and a 3" long bit for a 6 inch stock..the tolerances leave something to be desired. At best its a little noisy. But hey it looks great. The plyed yarn youre getting off that thing looks perfect to my eyes. Practical application no one would notice what your lazy kate looks like besides a guy building lazy kates. The only problem I see here is that hacksaw. They ripped you off. You could have gotten the real deal one for around that price and theyre all from China. The only tool Im glad I own from the usual suspects is a socket set. Because its shiny and comes with a decent organizational case for the sockets and 90% of the time thats the tool Im holding. So its worth the extra money to have the logistics there well thought out. Guild posting.
