I’ve downloaded the trial for Xbox Series X and while combat is really fine, graphics were extremely blurry. Developers have acknowledged that this is a problem and they’re working on it. I hope they fix it soon.

I agree with your assessment of the karakuri in that when you watch it it seems off and weird but when you're actually playing it it feels great and very fun to use.
Going to check it out when it launches this week. I do like Omega Force and did enjoy Toukiden. So I’m looking at this as a spiritual successor of sorts, and hope it does well enough.
@@MrPatwag yeah, I noticed that too when I was playing the trial. Might consider playing something else if the performance issues get too annoying (or put in more work in Rise).

I played one hunting game that was different from monster hunter called Lord of Arcana on the PSP, it was actually super addictive considering the story was abut you gaining power to stop Vermillion (monster) from destroying everything. It was heavily influenced with alot of fantasy like monsters that you would hear in lore and such, and it had magic, I thought, "Why not?" I played it so much that I heard there was a sequel on the Vita and hoped that they would bring it to main consoles but I don't think it got alot of revenue, there was a psp version I bought from Ebay and even though it was in Japanese I still managed to beat the game!
As a big fan of MH, been playing it for more than a decade and i cant wait to play this game especially after i know its the same dev with Toukiden now im excited
I fucking love this game. Been enjoying playing it so much, healthy competition is amazing. Obviously the game isn't perfect, but imo this is by far the best hunting game other than monhun.
Been a huge fan of MH since Freedom Unite (aka Portable 2nd G) and I've played and enjoyed most of its... Replicas, for lack of a better word, and always found something about them to enjoy. From the big guns in freedom wars, to the devour & custom bullet system of God Eater, to the Mitama system of Toukiden, or even the dark atmosphere of Soul Sacrifice/Lord of Arcana. But I think my top 3 were always MH, Toukiden, and God Eater; and when Toukiden suddenly stopped releasing more I was honestly quite sad and most games couldn't match the aerial play of its dual daggers/naginatas but now the devs have Wild Hearts which while I had high hopes for I was quite worried about how the building system would hold up in this style of game. Thank you for relieving me of those worries!
I believe if you're comparing this to Monster Hunter world's then that means this game is pretty dang amazing for the developer to come to a game that is their first of its kind and being compared to a game that has been in the genre forever
I hope they bring back some weapons from Toukiden like the Chain and Sickle, Chain Whip, Naginata, Gauntlets, club, Spear or even rifle. They've had cool weapons.
Feels like MH, you can craft base weapon, upgrade with elements and bonus skills. They have this skill/weapon tree like in MHW. Armors do change a bit but I also have not sure about it. You dont get to farm decorations for sure
@@loneaquilaThe system is different from MH it’s a mouthful but I’ll simplify it. You can craft the armor at its base form, but then you have 2 options to enhance from : Human-side and Kimeno side. You get certain skills based on the majority side. example craft 3 kimeno side and 2 human side from your full armor set it will lean more to kimeno side.
So this confirms what I thought from the few gameplay videos I've seen. Very interesting concepts but a lack of polish. Good to know that the execution of these concepts does work, I wasn't convinced about that. I'll probably wait for a month or two before buying. Playing a western game (or maybe just a non-Nintendo game) day one is generally a mistake as they tend to be released unfinished. If patches aren't enough to fix the polish issues, I'll wait for a sale, but I do intend to try this out at some point.
It woulda been great if they undercut MH Rise by like $15 and outsold, but I’m awaiting Friday eagerly lol. Video gave me a pretty good idea too, thanks

@@ken5040 people hate everything now a days. You say something on the internet and people want to talk shit. I look forward to the game. Lots of people are having a lot of fun with it
I played the 10 hour demo and I can't quite say that I'm as happy with this as I thought I was going to be. I understand that this is their first hunting game however they have years of comparable material to research. I played this mainly single player and I found that all of the monsters attacks seem persistent and overwhelming. This is normally fine but I'm used to a fast recovery from being knocked down by rolling, dodging, or the new wirebug from Rise. As an example I got charged by a monster and no matter what I did (except build a dumb wall) the charge attack was unavoidable. It was almost like the monster's AI was a magnet to your character. My last complaint was really about the building mechanics. I did like building the small blocks and leaping off them for attacking. However I had no indication that I had to collect materials to be able to build and that you can run out mid build. Example, I had to build a wall because Im not allowed to roll or dodge certain attacks. I built a wall, got stopped half way before it was done, and told that I ran outta materials. This resulted in my death. Im sure these are traits and issues that can be learned but like this video stated, I bet Wild Hearts 2 will be worth chasing, but I think I'll sit this one out. I'm a monster hunter vet. For a personal score I would give this game a 6 out of 10
Hmm, interesting to me...seeing as I am NOT A MH veteran and Don't really like the games...I wonder how you would rate all the MH games...and then vs this game. Kinda biased assessment is all.
The monsters might be more aggressive but you literally have a dodge with s, monster hunter you don't have that, and also you run out of stuff for healing and have to pick up mats everywhere and craft and traps and Flashpods, none of that in wild hearts, only the building, and you get the thread ammo back by just attacking you don't need to find any, and also you are able to see how much each buildable piece costs to place down, so if you want to build a wall, and it costs 6 blocks and each block costs 1 thread (2 rows with 3) then that means it's gonna cost 6 thread. Not the hardest mechanic to understand in a game, especially if your a monster hunter vet, WH seems easier to me then monster hunter and I've played all mh games except for the stories ones or whatever.
Will definitely give a try to this one when on sale, at least by then most bugs will be fixed and some QOL patches gameplay improvement and other optimisations been made, and i also hope it will force capcom to stop reskinning the same formula and make them more creative for next MH title, i guess some serious competition on their title won't hurt and benefits players, not just shareholders.
The co op bugs definitely need to be fixed. I played online one time and when I realized I could do a whole combo on a monster and not get a single hit because of desync I never did it again. Hopefully that'll be patched soon
@burner boy !!! idk ive seen the people who have the full game which seems to be a different version than the trial and they still have those issues. Idk if its gonna be patched on day 1 to fix that.
I really want this to succeed! I loved MHW but I hate that falcon just keeps releasing more and doesn’t have one that stays supported. I want a king lasting one. I will be holding off on buying as I’m still see into Hogwarts Legacy and then have Lightfall but from there I’ll for sure be checking it out
Honestly i fell like Toukiden doesnt get enough attention, while i played Monster Hunter Rise i find the story and characters lacking compared to Toukiden, so if you want a monster hunter game with good story i suggest Toukiden but if you want a good gameplay with friends i would suggest Monster Hunter. As for Wild Hearts its a good alternative if you want another type of MH game.
I enjoyed the 5 hours I was playing of it but yeah there's some technical issues that could use some smoothing. I think the biggest issue I had which can be fixed with patches are that it felt like the i-frames for rolling didn't always work? Or the window is stupidly small. It made me feel like my dodge rolls weren't working. Which maybe it's a bug? But over all I heavily enjoyed my time with it in the trial I got to play.
I have purchased it and am waiting eagerly for Friday!! I have hopes for this game and believe I will enjoy it. World definitely has that polish and passion we don’t see here but I do believe this will be a great secondary experience.
I usually dont watch videos like this on games I am thinking of getting (I dont know why as it would be smarter to do so) I wanted to watch this considering the game is $70 for the standard edition and $80 for the Karakuri. I also wanted to see videos because the only other Monster Hunter type game I have played before is Dauntless for like 3 hours back when it first came out so I wanted to know if Monster Hunter games are something I would like. After watching this video I can say with certainty that I will be getting this game. 10/10 review would watch again.
"At times it can be something really special. But its impossible to ignore how rough around the edges the game is." Oh, so just like Monster Hunter. Got it.
I truly wish people would just stop and think before they start hating a game that is in the same genre as MH. MH has had over a decade to improve and polish it's formula, where as Wild Hearts is a brand new IP that still has room to grow and fix the issues that arise from these experimental ideas. I personally hope it succeeds so we all can have another fun game to play rather than take joy in them failing, plus MH needs competition whether you like it or not.
To be honest, a game playable offline meant we gamers already have a ownership of the game, no more fears of being shutdown. For me I will buy and play this regardless, i bought and i own the game and no worry of no internet connection.
I hope the game gets a performance update soon. Tried to play the game but was having a lot of performance issues even with medium settings. It eventually crashed 40 minutes in and I have decided to wait for and update if that ever comes.
I'm loving the trial so far on xbsx - with the ps5 version currently looking better in performance mode I will probably buy that version. The gameplay is great I love building zip lines and wind risers everywhere.
That's rough. Most people make up their minds about a game after 2 hours of playtime. If the game get's good in the mid- late game then I'm afraid that might be too late for a lot of players.
Tbf their competitor is also the same way. Hunting games always lag a lil early game due to the massive amount of gameplay mechanics which it tries to slowly lean you into.
I'm hyped to play this once I finish up my current game. I didn't like World but Rise is fantastic to me. And I also liked God Eater 3. This will be the 3rd hunting game I actually enjoy I bet
Oh my, I’m sooo looking forward to this: as I too I’m a massive fan of MH been playing since the ps2. (Lol I’m the old lol) happy hunting everyone ☺️☺️☺️ love the content of the channel as always
With hope that they'll include a demo or open beta, I wasn't much insterested at first but with your review it picks my interest now. To be honest Dauntless was a good alternative to MonsterHunter, played both and would still be if it wasn't for the Epic Games exclusive bullsh*t ~
You could try it out via EA Play ($5 for a monthly sub, or $15 for the Pro version) rather than paying the full $70. That's what I'm doing. I think you only get a 10 hour trial to new games with the $5 version though.
Enjoyed the hell out of MHW and most of the previous installments. Rise was nice but felt like MHW DLC rather than a new game. Playing Wild Hearts currently & enjoying it thus far more than MH. Definitely the kind of competition MH needed
see this is the kinda review i get behind. We know going in its not monster hunter and its not even as fleshed out as that franchise but its a really great start that just needs to be ironed out in dlcs or sequels down the road. we NEED to give this boy a chance.

I doubt it, but it’s their first swing at it so I wouldn’t expect it anyway
It's a new IP, world had 14 years of baggage to build upon, all we can hope for is that this IP does well so they can improve upon it with every new update/sequel
@@hua.. but they already made 2 games like this before. Toukiden 1&2?
@@dewi2658this is what I was gunna say. Plus the combat is more Fromsoft Nioh action style like DMC so while it is like World the gameplay is different enough to bring in a whole diff genre of gamers
@@dewi2658 They hav but tht is irrelevant as none of the made content and very lil of the systems was brought over.
Definitely not their "1st swing" like r2d is saying but its definitely hoping tht this game will get a sequel and expand upon these systems.
Soul Sacrifice Delta felt like it deserves more love and hopefully one day it will make triumphant return :)
funny how he talks about wild hearts being "rough and janky" meanwhile monster hunter has been rough and janky its entire life
4:10 thank you Arekkz couldn’t have said it better myself. First thing I thought of when seeing this weapon.
I think it counts but besides freedom wars on the vita I felt soul sacrifice and soul sacrifice delta was such a hidden gem! Was like a magic themed hunting game with a light and dark kind of system that would change your arm and eventually your whole body! So cool!
God I loved SS and especially SSD. For me with Delta putting the middle path or neutral was such a cool thing. It was Dark souls but magic
@@Omega343666 exactly dude I loved the middle path but going full demon looked insanely cool! Remember nights grinding out decent enemies to finally get enough souls to max it out!!
Yeah that game was amazing
God what I would give for a console version if Soul sacrifice, heck I'd take a remaster
@@GodLikeC ugh agreed there!!! Would love a remaster!!!!
Downloading the Trial now. I hope this game is as awesome as it seems. I love Monster Hunter so this may be up my alley.
Have you hunted MR behemoth in world?
@@kogasoldier9379 Yep

Soul Sacrifice Delta is my most loved hunting game with heartbreaking world building
I really wish Toukiden was more popular, if only for the weapon selection. Spear? Check. Chain and Sickle? Check. Naginata? Check. I love my spear/lance type weapons and it's one thing that Monster Hunter severely lacks, because the "Lance" in Monster Hunter is just not what I am looking for.
I’ve downloaded the trial for Xbox Series X and while combat is really fine, graphics were extremely blurry. Developers have acknowledged that this is a problem and they’re working on it. I hope they fix it soon.
Where did they state this? This is why i dont buy the game rn, because of horrible graphics.. Hope it improves
@@kristiansteffensen98 I red it in a reedit forum.
I could never get into Monster Hunter but I love this game.
I was on the fence about getting this as a MH fan, but this review has sold me on getting it
I'm a casual monster hunter fan (played Freedom Unite, World's, and Rise) and I've been very hesitant to get into Wild Heart. Still on the fence, but I can say this definitely is pushing me towards giving it a try
I’m really excited for this game. I really hope they come in with some quick updates to fix some of the problems.
Probably wont play this, but im glad there's a decent competition for Monster Hunter. I mean, MH is always at the top of its game, but a serious competitor always pushes games to be the best they can be and don't stagnate, so it's all good for me.
Be wary there are huge optimisation issues that won't be resolved by launch.
@@MrPatwag yeah, I noticed that too when I was playing the trial. Might consider playing something else if the performance issues get too annoying (or put in more work in Rise).
I can't wait to see cool ways for buildings to be incorporated into combos also looks like they make simply traveling more entertaining then just walking or running which is nice to see
Actually only remembered Wild Hearts existed because a friend casually brought it up this past weekend. Now I'm surprisingly willing to pay $70 to pick it up day 1 -- it looks like a ton of fun.
Damn , 70 is too steep for me , I despise EA
@@omarsabeur9039 hurr durr ea bad
@@Werkvuur hurr durr EA just shut off Apex mobile with no refunds after less than a year . Give them your money you little whipping boy cuck.
Actually its bad optimized. Very very bad. No upscaling no dlss no nothing. A lot of stuttering.
@@omarsabeur9039EA just published the game they and it was made by a entirely different company. Wild hearts has and will not have any form of micro transactions. EA originals ( more credible and way less scummy than EA) have their hand on this also released other games like It takes two had no transactions in any way.
Lord of Arcana is definitely not talked about enough.
@baresize It's truly not, granted it's not as hyped as Monster Hunter, but damn did I have so much fun fighting to completion
I love that we all love competition in the Monster Hunting genre!
“Hunting games are most fun when playing with friends.” Couldn’t have said it much better than that.
They say it's poorly optimized
Still looks attractive and fun
considering mh is starting down the path of battlepasses, out of game paid outfits/weapon skins, etc. I for one am happy for competition.
How about endgame? Does it have alot to do or to upgrade after the main section of the game ends?
Endgame will probably be discussed on the full review.
Freedom Wars 2014 was my 1st game into Monter Hunter genre now Im here
Is there weapon and armor crafting? And what about armor and weapon customization? Is it like MH or more like Dragons Dogma?
Feels like MH, you can craft base weapon, upgrade with elements and bonus skills. They have this skill/weapon tree like in MHW. Armors do change a bit but I also have not sure about it. You dont get to farm decorations for sure
@@khaild7856 so armor crafting is still unknown.
You can craft it yes, but there is Karakuri style and basic style, I've not looked into it to see what it's like
Layered armor yes
@@loneaquilaThe system is different from MH it’s a mouthful but I’ll simplify it.
You can craft the armor at its base form, but then you have 2 options to enhance from : Human-side and Kimeno side. You get certain skills based on the majority side. example craft 3 kimeno side and 2 human side from your full armor set it will lean more to kimeno side.
Glad I wasn’t the only one experiencing frame rate issues. Hope they optimize the game a bit more because monster hunter could use a competitor
Glad to have this vid! I've had my eyes on this game and have been curious what the level of jank might be.
Thanks, awesome video and channel.
I fall in love with the umbrella weapon, really expecting to play with it :)
One of my favorite aspects is that we can recognize every day animals in them, making it feel more post apocalyptic than MH.
And to be fair thats what it is. On their webpage it says how these animals were basically fused with the environment around them.
It woulda been great if they undercut MH Rise by like $15 and outsold, but I’m awaiting Friday eagerly lol. Video gave me a pretty good idea too, thanks
Rise was a switch game originally so it made sense why it was cheaper. Wild hearts definitely has a lot to offer and super sad my trial ended DX
I have had very few bugs and playing with max settings and stable frame rates I enjoy Wildhearts more than I thought I would. I hope they fix the performance issues so more people can play it.
This game is amazing I’m a huge MH fanboy and this doesn’t disappoint I finished the trial In 2 hours beating the last monsters getting to where you have to own the game!! If I had the Cash I’d buy this right now it’s ridiculously fun
Also how many monsters are in game that’s my biggest buying factor
I saw in another video there's supposed to be 20 monsters at launch
Hopefully the game does really well so the next game they have a bigger budget to string out the bugs and make it even better
They could even do this with the title update
The game got one update already and another coming next week. All post launch content and DLC will be free, the game has everything it needs to succeed but a lot of ppl hating on it already
For a personal score I would give this game a 6 out of 10
the game tells you in the tutorial that you run out of building materials and you harvest from trees and rocks though?
Not the hardest mechanic to understand in a game, especially if your a monster hunter vet, WH seems easier to me then monster hunter and I've played all mh games except for the stories ones or whatever.
a game that is not worth 70 bucks thats for sure BUT when it comes to sale like 25% i will deffinetely buy it
Will definitely give a try to this one when on sale, at least by then most bugs will be fixed and some QOL patches gameplay improvement and other optimisations been made, and i also hope it will force capcom to stop reskinning the same formula and make them more creative for next MH title, i guess some serious competition on their title won't hurt and benefits players, not just shareholders.
The co op bugs definitely need to be fixed. I played online one time and when I realized I could do a whole combo on a monster and not get a single hit because of desync I never did it again. Hopefully that'll be patched soon
day 1 patch
@burner boy !!! idk ive seen the people who have the full game which seems to be a different version than the trial and they still have those issues. Idk if its gonna be patched on day 1 to fix that.
It's extremely hard to make a game that compares to MHW, hopefully this succeeds!
I just picked this up for 17$ on Steam. Best 17 dollars ever spent. It's AWESOME
This man said it could give Mon Hun a run for it's money. Big praise here! I guess I have to try it.
I definitely like it but yeah it really needs some more work / polishing
"At times it can be something really special. But its impossible to ignore how rough around the edges the game is."
Oh, so just like Monster Hunter. Got it.
Prior to watching this, I just wanna thank you for not making this an hour long. :)
For me I will buy and play this regardless, i bought and i own the game and no worry of no internet connection.
i've been loving this game
I hope the game gets a performance update soon. Tried to play the game but was having a lot of performance issues even with medium settings. It eventually crashed 40 minutes in and I have decided to wait for and update if that ever comes.
I'm loving the trial so far on xbsx - with the ps5 version currently looking better in performance mode I will probably buy that version. The gameplay is great I love building zip lines and wind risers everywhere.
I haven’t played the game yet but so far I think this game has some serious potential, definitely excited for it
One question. Do you need to launch Origin to play?
Cant wait for this. Im a huge fan of hunting games like toukiden, soul sacrifice, god eater burst, and of course, monster hunter
That's rough. Most people make up their minds about a game after 2 hours of playtime. If the game get's good in the mid- late game then I'm afraid that might be too late for a lot of players.
Early game monster hunter world, and rise, were terrible. Late game was always the star of those games.
Tbf their competitor is also the same way. Hunting games always lag a lil early game due to the massive amount of gameplay mechanics which it tries to slowly lean you into.
Are you new to monster hunter like games because that’s exactly what happened to monster hunter world rise GU every iteration ever
Arekkz: there are monster types we’ve never fought before Like the chicken.
Kulu-Ya-Ku: 🐔 Am I a joke to u?
I'm hyped to play this once I finish up my current game. I didn't like World but Rise is fantastic to me. And I also liked God Eater 3. This will be the 3rd hunting game I actually enjoy I bet
Played all MH Type games since psp days. Would really try this despite some of the negative reviews.
How do I unlock all weapons? Like I've finished the story, but still have some 2 star weapons hidden. Is it the scroll quests or hunting kemono?
Oh my, I’m sooo looking forward to this: as I too I’m a massive fan of MH been playing since the ps2. (Lol I’m the old lol) happy hunting everyone ☺️☺️☺️ love the content of the channel as always
With hope that they'll include a demo or open beta, I wasn't much insterested at first but with your review it picks my interest now.
To be honest Dauntless was a good alternative to MonsterHunter, played both and would still be if it wasn't for the Epic Games exclusive bullsh*t ~
who plays dauntless dull. it was made just before MHW comeout haha
The game is coming out tomorrow... you ain't getting an open beta bud... lol
@@demonportable "Who plays Mario 3, it was made just before Mario World"
What a fucking idiotic comment LOL
You could try it out via EA Play ($5 for a monthly sub, or $15 for the Pro version) rather than paying the full $70. That's what I'm doing. I think you only get a 10 hour trial to new games with the $5 version though.
One of the rare few ppl tbh who hav talked about Dauntless being a "good" alternative.
MH Veteran here and I have to say I love Wild Hearts. The graphics are not great but thats my only downside. Apart from this the game feels awesome especially weapon playstyle and the Karakuri mechanic...it is so much fucking fun. I hope this game gets enough support to be succesfull to see more of it. To me its the best MH competitor and some things its doing even better.
I lived World (my first hunting game) and Rise was so special to me. I was so hyped for it, and it delivered. I hope this new game is good too
Man i was one of those people who listened to the reviews so i passed on the game which i rarely do but seen it on sell and went and n bought it ...never again will i rely on reviews i love this game
I love it the katana is so smooth totally different from monster hunter it moves like a katana not a great sword.
I tried playing through rise when it came to Xbox and it just felt like I had already played through it. This feels refreshing yet familar. Enjoying the exploration a lot more in this than i have in other titles
Eventhough the game is getting so much positive review, I just can't trust EA. Personally I would like to know how many Monsters are in there and especially how the end game looks like? Overall a good first impression.
Played rise and really enjoying it, also playing monster hunter stories and would like to see that very more love and brought to the consoles! Can't wait to play this though have it ready for download tomorrow I only ran across it on Ps5 looking for something new to play and it was under related to MH: Rise
Game looks interesting enough, but I'll wait for a patch or two before purchasing for them to hopefully iron out a lot of the bugs and performance issues.
I love the God Eater series. It's the faster version of the MH and has clear storyline.
Will wait for a couple updates and sale.
Been playing for 3 days now and even that there is som problems where it feels like playing at 15fps i still love it its fun and New style of Hunter game. I recommend the game is pretty good
