The Meaningful Stories Mod by roBurky adds a bunch of new features to the game's emotions system, making bad moods more likely, reducing the frequency of mood changes, improving traits, and

I like your mod reviews a lot. Not too in depth, not too superficial. Many simmers do chaotic reviews that doesn't help much to decide. I would like to see more of yours.

Appreciate you telling me Nicolás. I had a tendency to ramble when I started but cut some out, so maybe I have found a bit of a balance. i'm still trying to improve. On this mod, even if you don't like how it is the fact it lets you toggle anything and modify values for certain options, it is so tunable most players who fiddle with it will like it for one thing or another. I think you could put it in just for the change to happy or the satisfaction :)

Gotta agree with Nicolas. As a heavy modder in most games that let me mod, I look at a lot of mod reviews and spotlights. Actual helpful videos are rather rare for some games. Your mod vids (and guide vids) are by far the most helpful for info and decision making.

@@skyesfury8511 Thanks a lot. I'll be looking at Slice of Life and have some Personality Please next time (which may be weeks) but I enjoy mod reviews. This one was particularly hard because most of what's happening is under the hood and related to changing emotions which doesn't make for great footage. Had to get creative.

@@CarlsSimGuides I think what I like the most is that you try to be informative and fair. You state your personal opinion but without interfering with the facts. I've been using this mod for a while and it's become so standard to me that I sort of forget that the base game moods are broken. If EA is serious about that survey they did a little while ago where they asked about improvements to the base of Sims 4, they should really investigate making something similar to this how moods are handled by default.

thelostgirl101 i was thinking about this yesterday when I was playing. Death is pretty random and waits for no one. I haven’t had a single death of anyone besides an elder since I started playing when it came out (aside from me doing it on purpose). People die all the time from falling in the tub, choking, car wrecks, work accidents, etc. It would be sad but would add depth to gameplay to see someone who wasn’t old to get a randomized death every once in awhile.

Excellent review! I mostly build so I don't play with my Sims too terribly much, but when I do, I like to throw this mod into the game, because it makes moods so much more interesting. One of my main gameplay Sims has the Gloomy trait, and if he goes into a Sadness spiral, it's truly tough to get him out of it, which feels more realistic to me, while also adding a much needed layer of challenge to the game. I like that my Sims are "Fine" when they're eating breakfast and don't have these huge creepy grins on their faces, and I like that they can truly have bad days.

      @biblicallyaccuratecockroach 4 роки тому

I do not have the full "Meaningful Stories" installed, but I do have the "True Happiness" portion of the mod, so I can answer this! In vanilla, the default is "happy" = green and "fine" = white, and it's also the default option on the mod, to switch them requires the appropriate add-on. But because the mod effectively switches their roles, and the boosting moodlets are *hard-coded* to be half green / half the other mood's colour no matter the kind (even with the "Umcomfortable Overhaul" mod, the boosting "uncomfortable" moodlets also appear half green, this cannot be changed unfortunately), if they are not switched, and you have a bunch of "fine" moodlets boosting a true "happy" moodlet, with the moodlet bar collapsed they will all be green, aka you have no way of knowing which is which at a glance. When I installed the mod I also ignored the switcher, but found it confusing, and much easier to work with them switched.
Personally, after the initial strangeness, I like it. Happy being white also reminds me of the "platinum" maximum mood from Sims 2. As a side effect, however, the ghosts' default colour will now be green instead of white, since their colour is dependent on their current mood (not sure if it affects their portaits though). But it reminds me of the Ghostbusters ghost, and I think it's funny, so I don't mind.

It pisses me off that emotions can easily be fixed by just changing values, but developers don't do anything. Yes, we have this mod, but it's supposed to be in a game. Great mod, but I couldn't go to any of my households after playing with it in one sitting. Had to unistall.

I feel for the poor console players who can't use mods. I think any changes to gameplay at this stage should have this level of customization so as not to piss off one type of player or another. I don't know what's coming but I expect we'll get a big patch by Summer (pure speculation on my part).

Hey Karen. I'm a bit behind but usually want to do 8 a month, usually midweek and weekends. Nothing specific as I want to show more love to a topic if it requires it (especially those 20m+ heavily edited videos that aren't simple LPs) but I am finding taking more time on the script and video itself is making it more like 6/month. I always try to do one by sat afternoon-sunday evening. It's chaos lol.

Personally I agree with all of these but it should do something about uncomfortable triggers. You don't get uncomfortable when you're aware you'll have to pee in a few hours, you're just aware and not uncomfortable unless something has been making you wait til you almost burst. Some people skip meals and it doesn't completely ruin them. I found in my plays sims is an annoying battle of "Happy" and "uncomfortable". I would especially love if boosts for moods were based not only on good or bad but their relation to eachother

@@CarlsSimGuides I really enjoy them. Mods in my opinion are essential to keeping the game fresh and to add the depth the game normally lacks. Sadly there are some mediocre mods that have issues that sound great on paper yet in play aren't so great. And there are some that cause issues that completely wreck the game. I respect your opinion over most so I get excited when you cover mods, especially ones I haven't yet dabbled in. Keep it up.

What is this? Traits actually defining the personality of your sim? When I first played the game, I avoided the hothead trait b.c I thought it was going to make my sim a...well a hot head. When I finally made a sim I wanted to be a hothead, he played just like my happy sims which I found extremely disappointing. Now I just blindly randomize a sims traits b.c I doesn't matter what I pick.

Is there a way to lower/disable death by anger/laughing/etc with this? I use the basemental drugs mod and tend to pick the emotion bomb celebrity quirk. This could easily end a sim over the edge into death by emotion. I really like the idea for gameplay, but... idk. I'm hesitant because of that risk.

It is so shameful that we would have to install a mod to make things right in our games. The fact that TS4 will not incorporate the special things certain modders do just shows me how much TS4 relies on outside sources to fix the game rather than them doing it themselves. When in doubt, mod it out. Tsk, tsk.

Why does the Sims team leave it up to modders? If a fan can do it with a mod, dev can add it to the base game. So why don’t they?!? They released a game with an emotions system that was only half done. There are so many things modders have done to gameplay that the Sims team should have added themselves. They need to step up.

Unfortunately I have no PC so I can’t take advantage of this mod or any mod. It seems that this mod adds depth to the sims and that’s what the game has been lacking as a whole. I literally need no real reason to create other households because there’s no real in depth change that changes your sims life. Variety is good and that’s what I like about the sims but if I had this mod I think I’ll enjoy this game a lot more because it give depth that the sims really needs. Choosing traits for your sim will be a lot more meaningful.

Meaningful Stories has become so much a part of my play style that like MCCC I only notice it when I'm playing without mods. I really does feel like a natural part of the game. Slice of Life comes close but is not quite as seamless or indispensible. Still, once SoL is tweaked a bit (I remove the autonomous hookups) it integrates well.

It's so damn cool - I really did not know anything about it other than its name thanks to the solid reputation.. it seems like people could almost trade different configurations because of all the options. • @YAUUN

@@CarlsSimGuides Yeah the level of tweakability is one of the things that impresses me. And you can just drop it in and not touch it, if you want, it does't require huge amounts of tweaking like some mods. I don't tweak it much, although I have been thinking of playing with the emotional inertia settings in my next game to see how that goes.
